1 I sacerdoti adunque, che sono tra di voi, gli scongiuro, io consacerdote, e testimone de' patimenti di Cristo: e chiamato a parte di quella gloria, che sarà un giorno manifestata:	1 The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come:
2 Pascete il gregge di Dio, che da voi dipende, governandolo non forzatamente, ma di buona voglia secondo Dio: non per amore di vil guadagno, ma con animo volenteroso:	2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily:
3 Né come per dominare sopra l'eredità (del Signore) ma fatti sinceramente esemplare del gregge:	3 Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart.
4 E quando apparirà il principe de' pastori, riceverete corona immarcessibile di gloria.	4 And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory.
5 Parimente voi, o giovani, siate soggetti a' sacerdoti. E tutti rivestitevi di umiltà gli uni verso degli altri, perché Dio resiste ai superbi, e agli umili da la grazia.	5 In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace.
6 Umiliatevi adunque sotto la potente mano di Dio, affinchè vi esalti nel tempo della visita:	6 Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation:
7 Ogni vostra sollecitudine gittando in lui, imperocché egli ha cura di voi.	7 Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.
8 Siate temperanti, e vegliate: perché il diavolo vostro avversario come lione, che rugge, va in volta cercando chi divorare:	8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.
9 A cui resistete forti nella fede: sappiate, come le stesse cose patiscono i vostri fratelli, che sono pel mondo.	9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world.
10 Ma il Dio di ogni grazia, il quale ci ha chiamati alla eterna gloria sia in Cristo Gesù, con un po' di patire vi perfezionerà, vi conforterà, e assoderà.	10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you.
11 A lui la gloria, e l'impero pe' secoli de' secoli. Cosi sia.	11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Per mezzo di Silvano fratello fedele vi ho scritto, parmi, brevemente: per esortarvi, e attestando, che la vera grazia di Dio è questa, nella quale state costanti.	12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand.
13 Vi saluta la Chiesa, che è in Babilonia, con voi eletta, e Marco mio figlio.	13 The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark.
14 Salutatevi gli uni, gli altri col bacio santo. La grazia a tutti voi, che siete in Cristo Gesù. Cosi sia.	14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
