1 Udirono gli Apostoli, e i fratelli, che erano nella Giudea come anche i gentili ricevuto avevano la parola di Dio.	1 Now the apostles and the brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.
2 E allorché Pietro fu tornato a Gerusalemme, contendevano con lui quelli, che erano della circoncisione,	2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision party criticized him,
3 Dicendo: perdio sei tu entrato in casa di uomini non circoncisi, e hai mangiato con essi?	3 saying, "Why did you go to uncircumcised men and eat with them?"
4 Ma Pietro cominciò a esporre le cose per ordine, dicendo:	4 But Peter began and explained to them in order:
5 Io era nella Città di Joppe, e orava, e ridi in un'estasi questa visione: scendeva un certo arnese come un gran lenzuolo, il quale pei quattro angoli veniva calato dal cielo, e arrivò sino a me.	5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, something descending, like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came down to me.
6 Io lo considerava guardandolo fissamente, e osservai e quadrupedi della terra, e fiere, e rettili, e uccelli dell'aria.	6 Looking at it closely I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air.
7 E udii una voce, che a me diceva: via su, Pietro, uccidi, e mangia.	7 And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.'
8 Io risposi: no certo, o Signore: perché non è entrata mai nella mia bocca cosa comune, o immonda.	8 But I said, 'No, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'
9 Mi replicò la voce per la seconda volta dal cielo: non voler tu chiamare immondo quello, che Dio ha purificato.	9 But the voice answered a second time from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.'
10 E questo accadde per tre volte: e di poi fu ritirata ogni cosa in cielo.	10 This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven.
11 Ed ecco in quel punto tre uomini sopraggiunsero alla casa dove io mi stava, mandati a me da Cesarea.	11 At that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea.
12 E dissemi lo Spirito, che andassi con loro senza difficoltà. E meco vennero anche questi sei fratelli, ed entrammo in casa di quell'uomo.	12 And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brethren also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
13 Ed egli ci raccontò, come avea veduto in casa sua farsegli davanti un Angelo il quale gli disse: manda a loppe a chiamar Simone soprannominato Pietro,	13 And he told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, 'Send to Joppa and bring Simon called Peter;
14 Il quale ti annunziera parole, per le quali sarai salvo tu, e tutta la tua casa.	14 he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.'
15 Or avendo io principiato a parlare, discese lo Spirito santo sopra di essi, come sopra di noi a principio.	15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning.
16 E ritornommi a memoria la parola del Signore com' ei diceva: Giovanni battezzò coll'acqua, ma voi sarete battezzati nello Spirito santo.	16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
17 Se adunque eguai grazia ha dato Dio a loro, che a noi, i quali abbialo, creduto nel Signor Gesù Cristo: e chi era io che potessi oppormi a Dio?	17 If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"
18 Udite tali cose, si acchetarono: e glorificavano il Signore, dicendo: Adunque anche alle genti ha conceduta Dio la penitenza, affinchè abbiano vita:	18 When they heard this they were silenced. And they glorified God, saying, "Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance unto life."
19 Quelli pertanto, che erano stati dispersi dalla tribulazione succeduta per causa di Stefano, arrivarono sino alla Fenicia, e in Cipro, e ad Antiochia, non predicando la parola, se non a soli Giudei.	19 Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to none except Jews.
20 Ed erano tra essi alcuni Cipriotti, e Cirenei, i quali entrali in Antiochia, parlavano anche ai Greci, evangelizzando il Signore Gesù.	20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 E la mano del Signore era con essi: e gran gente avendo creduto, si convertì al Signore.	21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number that believed turned to the Lord.
22 E venne questa nuova alle orecchie della Chiesa, che era in Gerusalemme? e mandaron Barnaba fino ad Antiochia.	22 News of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 Il quale arrivato che fu, avendo veduto la grazia di Dio, si rallegrò: ed esortava tutti a perseverare nel Signore con cuore risoluto:	23 When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad; and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose;
24 Perché egli era uomo dabbene, e pieno di Spirito santo, e di fede. E s'acquistò gran moltitudine di gente al Signore.	24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large company was added to the Lord.
25 E Barnaba si parti per Tarso a cercare di Saulo, e trovatolo, lo condusse ad Antiochia.	25 So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul;
26 E per un anno intero si trattennero in quella Chiesa, e istruirono una gran moltitudine, talmente che in Antiochia fu dato per la prima volta a' discepoli il nome di Cristiani.	26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church, and taught a large company of people; and in Antioch the disciples were for the first time called Christians.
27 Di que' giorni vennero da Gerusalemme ad Antiochia dei profeti:	27 Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 E alzatosi uno di questi, Agabo di nome, faceva sapere per virtù dello Spirito, come una gran fame doveva essere per tutto il mondo, la quale anche fu sotto Claudio.	28 And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world; and this took place in the days of Claudius.
29 E tutti i discepoli secondo la possibiltà di ciascheduno determinarono di mandare soccorso ai fratelli abitanti nella Giudea:	29 And the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brethren who lived in Judea;
30 Come pur fecero, mandandolo a' seniori per le mani di Barnaba, e di Saulo.	30 and they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
