Osea 11

1 Come passa un mattino, passerà il re d'Israele. Israele era bambino, ed io l'amai, e dall'Egitto richiamai il mio figliuolo.	1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
2 Lo richiamarono, ed egli si alienava da essi. Hanno immolato vittime a Baal, e offerti sagrifizj ai simulacri.	2 As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
3 Io feci da balio con Ephraim; lo portai tralle mie braccia; ed ei non conobbero, che io son quegli, che ho cura di lor salute.	3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
4 Io li trassi co' vincoli proprj degli uomini, co' vincoli della carità: io fui, che tolsi il capestro, che stringeva lor le mascelle, e porsi lor da mangiare.	4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
5 Ei non torneranno nella terra d'Egitto, ma Assur sarà il loro re, perchè non han voluto convertirsi.	5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
6 La spada ha cominciato di andar in giro pelle loro città, e sterminerà i cittadini migliori, e divorerà i loro capi.	6 And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
7 E il mio popolo aspetterà ansiosamente il mio ritorno; ma il giogo, che sarà imposto a tutti loro, non sarà tolto.	7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
8 Che farò io di te, o Ephraim? ti proteggerò io, o Israele? ma in qual modo potrò io trattarti come Adama, e ridurti come Seboim? Il mio cuore alterna dentro di me, io mi ripento insieme, e mi conturbo.	8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
9 Non lascerò agire il furore dell'ira mia; non m'indurrò a sperdere Ephraim, perchè io son Dio, e non un uomo: il santo in mezzo a te, e io non entrerò nella città.	9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
10 Eglino seguiranno il Signore, egli ruggirà qual lione, ruggirà egli stesso, e ne avranno spavento i figliuoli del mare.	10 They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
11 E voleran dall'Egitto come un uccello, e dall'Assiria come una colomba, e io li rimetterò nelle case loro, dice il Signore.	11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
12 Ephraim mi ha circonvenuto con rinegarmi, e la casa d'Israele colle sue frodi; ma Giuda è venuto a rendere testimonianza a Dio, ed è fedele co' santi.	12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
