| 1 E il Signore parlò la seconda volta a Geremia nel tempo, ch'egli tuttora era rinchiuso nel cortile della prigione, dicendo: | 1 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard: |
| 2 Queste cose dice il Signore, il quale farà, ed effettuerà, e disporrà quello, che dice: Il nome suo è il Signore. | 2 "Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it--the LORD is his name: |
| 3 Alza a me le tue grida, ed io ti esaudirò; e ti annunzierò cose grandi, e certe, le quali tu ignori; | 3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known. |
| 4 Imperocché queste cose dice il Signore, il Dio d'Israele intorno alle case di questa città, e intorno alle case del re di Giuda, che sono distrutte, e intorno alle fortificazioni, e intorno alla spada | 4 For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah which were torn down to make a defense against the siege mounds and before the sword: |
| 5 Di coloro, che vengono a combattere co Caldei, e a riempirle di cadaveri di uomini, i quali io nel mio furore, e nell'indegnazione ma ho percossi, ascondendo la mia faccia a questa città, a motivo di tutta la malizia loro. | 5 The Chaldeans are coming in to fight and to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I shall smite in my anger and my wrath, for I have hidden my face from this city because of all their wickedness. |
| 6 Ecco, che io rassetterò le brecce, e ristorerò le rovine: e farò vedere ad essi la pace, e la verità, ch'ei domandano. | 6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security. |
| 7 E farò, che ritornino i fuorusciti di Giuda, e i fuorusciti di Gerusalemme, e li riporrò nell'antico stato. | 7 I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and rebuild them as they were at first. |
| 8 E li monderò da tutte le loro iniquità, colle quali hanno peccato contro di me: e perdonerò ad essi tutti i peccati, co' quali mi hanno offeso, e mi han disprezzato. | 8 I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me. |
| 9 E ciò acquisterammi nome presso tutte le genti, alle quali perverrà la notizia di tutti i benefizj, ch'io farò ad essi, e ne avranno allegrezza, e a me daran laude, ed esulteranno, e temeranno, e resteranno stupefatte de' benefizj di ogni maniera, e della perfetta pace, che io ad essi concederò. | 9 And this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them; they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it. |
| 10 Queste cose dice il Signore: In questo luogo (che voi chiamate un deserto, perchè non v'è uomo, né giumento) e nelle città di Giuda, e ne' contorni di Gerusalemme, che son desolati senza un uomo, e senza un abitatore, e senza bestiame, si udiranno ancora | 10 "Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, 'It is a waste without man or beast,' in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man or inhabitant or beast, there shall be heard again |
| 11 Voci di gaudio, voce di allegrezza, voce di sposo, e voce di sposa, voce di gente, che dirà: Date lode al Signore degli eserciti, perchè buono è il Signore, perchè la sua misericordia è in eterno: e voci di coloro, che veranno a sciogliere i loro voti nella casa del Signore: perocché io riporrò i fuorusciti della terra nell'antico stato, dice il Signore. | 11 the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD: 'Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever!' For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the LORD. |
| 12 Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: In questo luogo deserto, e privo di uomini, e di giumenti, e in tutte le città di Giuda saranno ancora le tende dei pastori de' greggi, che ivi si sdraeranno. | 12 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place which is waste, without man or beast, and in all of its cities, there shall again be habitations of shepherds resting their flocks. |
| 13 Nelle città di montagna, e nelle città campestri, e nelle città, she sono a mezzodì, e nella terra di Beniamin, e ne' contorni di Gerusalemme, e nelle città di Giuda passeranno ancora i greggi sotto la mano di colui, che ne fa il novero, dice il Signore. | 13 In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin, the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks shall again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD. |
| 14 Ecco, che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, e io adempierò la buona Parola detta da me alla casa d'Israele, e alla casa di Giuda. | 14 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfil the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. |
| 15 In que' giorni, e in quel tempo farò spuntare a Davidde un germe di giustizia, che renderà ragione, e farà giustizia sopra la terra. | 15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring forth for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. |
| 16 In que' giorni Giuda avrà salute, e Israele abiterà nella pace: e il nome, che a lui daranno, egli è: Il Signore nostro giusto; | 16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.' |
| 17 Imperocché queste cose dice il Signore: non mancherà della stirpe di David uomo, che segga sul trono della casa d'Israele. | 17 "For thus says the LORD: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, |
| 18 E non mancherà della stirpe de' Sacerdoti, e de' Leviti uomo, che offerisca davanti a me gli olocausti, e il fuoco accenda pel sagrificio, e scanni in ogni tempo le vittime. | 18 and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn cereal offerings, and to make sacrifices for ever." |
| 19 E il Signore parlò a Geremia, dicendo: | 19 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: |
| 20 Queste cose dice il Signore: Se rotto può essere l'ordine stabilito da me pel giorno, e l'ordine stabilito da me per la notte, talmente che non sta il giorno, e non sia la notte al suo tempo, | 20 "Thus says the LORD: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, |
| 21 Potrà ancora esser rotta l'alleanza mia con Davidde mio servo, talmente che di lui non siavi un figlio, che regni sopra il suo trono, e non sianvi i Leviti, e i Sacerdoti ministri miei. | 21 then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. |
| 22 Come non posson contarsi le stelle del cielo, né misurarsi la sabbia del mare: cosi io moltiplicherò il seme di Davidde mio servo, e i Leviti ministri miei. | 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me." |
| 23 E il Signore parlò a Geremia, dicendo: | 23 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: |
| 24 Non hai tu fatto riflessione alle parole di questo popolo, che dice: Le due famiglie, che il Signore aveva elette son rigettate? Così disprezzano il popol mio, talmente che nel cospetto di costoro ei non è più una nazione? | 24 "Have you not observed what these people are saying, 'The LORD has rejected the two families which he chose? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. |
| 25 Queste cose dice il Signore: Se io non ho stabilito l'ordine tral dì, e la notte, e poste leggi al cielo, e alla terra; | 25 Thus says the LORD: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the ordinances of heaven and earth, |
| 26 Potrà ancor essere, ch'io rigetti il seme di Giacobbe, e di Davidde mio servo, talmente che del seme di lui io non elegga i principi per la stirpe di Abramo, d'Isacco, e di Giacobbe. Ma io ricondurrò i lor fuorusciti, ed avrò di essi misericordia. | 26 then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his descendants to rule over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes, and will have mercy upon them." |
