| 1 Ora dice il Signore, che te creò, o Giacobbe, e te formò, o Israele: non temere; perocché io ti ho redento, e ti ho chiamato pel tuo nome: tu se mio. | 1 But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. |
| 2 Quando tu passerai per mezzo alle acque, io sarò teco, e non ti cuoprirà la corrente: quando passerai per mezzo al fuoco, non sarai abbruciato, e la fiamma non avrà ardore per te. | 2 When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. |
| 3 Perchè io sono il Signore Dio tuo, il Santo d'Israele tuo in Salvatore, prezzo di tua liberazione ho dato l'Egitto, l'Etiopia, e Saba | 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. |
| 4 Dopo che tu diventasti orrevole, e glorioso negli occhi miei, io ti ho amato, e per te darò degli uomini, e de' popoli per tua salvezza. | 4 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. |
| 5 Non temere; perocché io son teco dall'Oriente condurrò i tuoi figliuoli, e dall'Occidente vi riunirò. | 5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you; |
| 6 Al Settentrione dirò: Dammeli: e al Mezzogiorno: Non ritenerli: conducetemi i miei figliuoli da' rimoti paesi, e le mie figlie dalle estremità della terra; | 6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, |
| 7 Perocché tutti quelli, che invocano il nome mio, per gloria mia gli ho creati, gli ho formati, e gli ho fatti. | 7 every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." |
| 8 Manda fuora quel popolo, che è cieco, benché abbia occhi; ed è sordo, benché abbia orecchie. | 8 Bring forth the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! |
| 9 Si radunino insieme tutte le genti, e si uniscano le tribù: chi di voi annuncezierà simil cosa, e farà a noi ascoltare quello, che dee prima accadere? Producano i lor testimoni, si giustifichino,e que' che ascoltano, dicano: E' vero. | 9 Let all the nations gather together, and let the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to justify them, and let them hear and say, It is true. |
| 10 Testimoni miei, dice il Signore, esiete voi, e il mio servo; affinchè conosciate, e crediate, e intendiate, ch'io son quell'io. Formato non fu alcun Dio avanti di me né saravvi dopo di me. | 10 "You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. |
| 11 Io sono, io sono il Signore, e non è Salvatore fuori di me. | 11 I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior. |
| 12 Io predissi, io salvai; e vel feci sapere, e nissun Dio straniero fu tra di voi: voi miei testimoni, dice il Signore, ed io son Dio. | 12 I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses," says the LORD. |
| 13 E io stesso sono fin da principio, e non è chi dalla mano mia si sottragga: io farò, e chi disfarà? | 13 "I am God, and also henceforth I am He; there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work and who can hinder it?" |
| 14 Queste cose dice il Signore Redentor vostro, il Santo d'Israele: Per amor di voi ho mandato gente a Babilonia, e ne gettai a terra tutte le difese, e i Caldei, che si gloriavano delle loro navi. | 14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "For your sake I will send to Babylon and break down all the bars, and the shouting of the Chaldeans will be turned to lamentations. |
| 15 Io il Signore, il Santo vostro, Creator d'Israele, Re vostro. | 15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King." |
| 16 Queste cose dice il Signore, che aperse una strada nel mare, e un sentiero nelle acque precipitose. | 16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, |
| 17 Egli è, che fece uscir in campo cocchi, e i cavalli, le schiere, e i capitani, e si addormentarono insieme, né si sveglieranno: furono spenti come lino fumante, e perirono. | 17 who brings forth chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: |
| 18 Scordatevi delle cose passate, e non badate alle antiche. | 18 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. |
| 19 Ecco, che cose nuove io fo, e or ora verranno in luce, certamente voi lo saprete: aprirò una strada nel deserto, e sorgive di acqua nel paese disabitato. | 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. |
| 20 Daran gloria a me le bestie salvatiche, i dragoni; e gli struzzoli; perchè ho fatto scaturire acque nel deserto, e fiumi nella terra disabitata per dar da bere al mio popolo, al mio eletto. | 20 The wild beasts will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, |
| 21 Questo popolo l'ho io formato per me: egli annunzierà le mie laudi. | 21 the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise. |
| 22 Tu non mi hai invocato, o Giacobbe, tu non ti se' preso cura di me, o Israele. | 22 "Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel! |
| 23 Tu non hai offerto a me il tuo capro in olocausto, e non mi hai onorato colle vittime: non son io quegli, cui tu hai servito colle obblazioni, ne io ti ho data la fatica di bruciare l'incenso. | 23 You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings, or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, or wearied you with frankincense. |
| 24 Non hai comprato per me col denaro la canna odorosa, e non mi hai rallegrato col grasso delle tue vittime. Piuttosto me hai tu fatto servire ne' tuoi peccati: a me hai recato pena colle tue iniquità. | 24 You have not bought me sweet cane with money, or satisfied me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins, you have wearied me with your iniquities. |
| 25 Io sono, son io stesso, che cancello le tue iniquità per me medesimo, e de' peccati tuoi non avrò più memoria. | 25 "I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. |
| 26 Ricorda tu a me, e facciasi insieme giudizio di noi, racconta se hai qualche cosa per essere giustificato. | 26 Put me in remembrance, let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right. |
| 27 Il padre tuo egli il primo peccò, e i tuoi intervenzi prevaricarono contro di me. | 27 Your first father sinned, and your mediators transgressed against me. |
| 28 Per questo dichiarai immondi i principi sacrati, e Giacobbe diedi allo sterminio, e Israele all'obbrobrio. | 28 Therefore I profaned the princes of the sanctuary, I delivered Jacob to utter destruction and Israel to reviling. |
