| 1 Egli si fabbricò delle case nella città di David, ed edificò un luogo per l'arca di Dio, e formolle un tabernacolo. | 1 David built houses for himself in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it. |
| 2 Allora disse David: Non è lecito, che l'arca di Dio sia portata da altri, che dai Leviti eletti dal Signore a portarla, e ad essere suoi ministri in perpetuo. | 2 Then David said, "No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister to him for ever." |
| 3 E convocò tutto Israele a Gerusalemme per far portare l'arca di Dio al suo luogo, ch'ei le avea preparato. | 3 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it. |
| 4 E (convocò) anche i figliuoli di Aaronne, e i Leviti. | 4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites: |
| 5 De' figliuoli di Caath, era capo Uriel; e avea seco cento venti de' suoi fratelli. | 5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, with a hundred and twenty of his brethren; |
| 6 De' figliuoli di Merari, era capo Asaia; e con lui dugento venti de' suoi fratelli. | 6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, with two hundred and twenty of his brethren; |
| 7 De' figliuoli di Gersom, capo era Joel; e con lui cento trenta de' suoi fratelli. | 7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, with a hundred and thirty of his brethren; |
| 8 De' figliuoli di Elisaphan, era capo Semeia; e avea seco dugento fratelli. | 8 of the sons of Eli-zaphan, Shemaiah the chief, with two hundred of his brethren; |
| 9 De' figliuoli di Hebron, era capo Eliei; e avea seco ottanta fratelli. | 9 of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, with eighty of his brethren; |
| 10 De' figliuoli di Oziel, capo era Aminadab; e con lui cento dodici fratelli. | 10 of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, with a hundred and twelve of his brethren. |
| 11 E David chiamò a se Sadoc, e Abiathar Sacerdoti, e i Leviti, Uriel, Asaia, Joel, Semeia, Eliei, e Aminadab: | 11 Then David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab, |
| 12 E disse loro: Voi, che siete i capi delle famiglie Levitiche, purificatevi insieme co' vostri fratelli, e portate l'arca del Signore Dio d'Israele al luogo preparato per essa; | 12 and said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, so that you may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it. |
| 13 Affinchè come l'altra volta il Signore ci gastigò, perchè voi non eravate presenti, cosi non avvenisse ora, se alcuna cosa non permessa si facesse da noi. | 13 Because you did not carry it the first time, the LORD our God broke forth upon us, because we did not care for it in the way that is ordained." |
| 14 Si purificarono adunque i sacerdoti, e i Leviti, per portar l'arca del Signore Dio d'Israele. | 14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel. |
| 15 E portarono l'arca dì Dio il figliuolo di Levi (conforme aveva ordinato Mosè secondo la parola del Signore) sopra le loro spalle, sulle stanghe. | 15 And the Levites carried the ark of God upon their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD. |
| 16 E David ordinò ai capi de' Leviti, che scegliessero tra i loro fratelli dei cantori, e sonatori di musicali strumenti, viene a dire, di nabli, lire, e cimbali, affinchè risonassero fino al cielo i suoni di letizia. | 16 David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brethren as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy. |
| 17 E quelli scelsero de' Leviti. Heman figliuolo di Joel, e de' fratelli di lui, Asaph figliuolo di Barachia; e dei figliuoli di Merari, e loro fratelli, Ethan figliuoli di Casaia: | 17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari, their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; |
| 18 E con essi i loro fratelli: e nel secondo ordine Zacharia, e Ben, e Jaziel, e Semiramoth, e Jahiel, e Ani, Eliab, e Banaia, e Maasia, e Mathathia, ed Eliphalu, e Macenia, e Obededom, e Jehiel, che erano portinai. | 18 and with them their brethren of the second order, Zechariah, Ja-aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Ma-aseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Je-iel. |
| 19 E i cantori Heman, Asaph, ed Ethan sonavano i cimbali di bronzo. | 19 The singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; |
| 20 E Zacharia, e Oziel, e Semiramoth, e Jahiel, e Ani, ed Eliab, e Maasia, e Banaia cantavano inni misteriosi sui nabli. | 20 Zechariah, Azi-el, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Ma-aseiah, and Benaiah were to play harps according to Alamoth; |
| 21 E Mathathia, ed Eliphalu, e Macenia, e Obededom, e Jehiel, e Ozazia cantavano inni di vittoria sulle cetere a otto corde. | 21 but Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Je-iel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres according to the Sheminith. |
| 22 E Chonenia principe de' Leviti era quello, che presedeva al canto, per dare il tuono: perocché era molto intelligente. | 22 Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in music, should direct the music, for he understood it. |
| 23 E Barachia, ed Elcana facevano da portinaj dell'arca. | 23 Berechiah and Elkanah were to be gatekeepers for the ark. |
| 24 E Sebenia, e Josaphat, e Nathanael, e Amasai, e Zacharia, e Banaia, ed Eliezer sacerdoti sonavan le trombe dinanzi all'arca di Dio: e Obededom, e Jehia erano uscieri dell'arca. | 24 Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, should blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah also were to be gatekeepers for the ark. |
| 25 Davidde adunque, e tutti i seniori d'Israele, e i tribuni andarono a trasportare l'arca del testamento del Signore dalla casa di Obededom con gran festa. | 25 So David and the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom with rejoicing. |
| 26 E perchè Dio avea dato aiuto ai Leviti, che portavano l'arca del testamento del Signore, furono immolati sette tori, e sette arieti. | 26 And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams. |
| 27 Davidde poi era vestito di una veste lunga di bisso, come anche tutti i Leviti, che portavan l'arca, e i cantori, e Chonenia maestro del coro dei cantori: ma David avea ancora un Ephod di lino. | 27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as also were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the leader of the music of the singers; and David wore a linen ephod. |
| 28 E tutto Israele accompagnava l'arca del testamento del Signore con voci di giubilo, e tra i suoni di buccine, e di trombe, e di cimbali, e di nabli, e di cetere. | 28 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, to the sound of the horn, trumpets, and cymbals, and made loud music on harps and lyres. |
| 29 E quando l'arca del testamento del Signore fu arrivata sino alla città di David, Michol figliuola di Saul mirando da una finestra, vide il re David, che saltava, e ballava; e in cuor suo lo disprezzò. | 29 And as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David dancing and making merry; and she despised him in her heart. |
