Psalms 48

1 A psalm of a canticle, for the sons of Core, on the second day of the week.	1 Cantique.Psaume. Des fils de Coré.
2 Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.	2 Grand, Yahvé, et louable hautement dans la ville de notre Dieu, le mont sacré,
3 With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.	3 superbe d'élan, joie de toute la terre; le mont Sion, coeur de l'Aquilon, cité du grand roi:
4 In her houses shall God be known, when he shall protect her.	4 Dieu, du milieu de ses palais, s'est révélé citadelle.
5 For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: they gathered together.	5 Voici, des rois s'étaient ligués, avançant à la fois;
6 So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved:	6 ils virent, et du coup stupéfaits, pris de panique, ils décampèrent.
7 trembling took hold of them. There were pains as of a woman in labour.	7 Là, un tremblement les saisit, un frisson d'accouchée,
8 With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.	8 ce fut le vent d'est qui brise les vaisseaux de Tarsis.
9 As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God hath founded it for ever.	9 Comme on nous l'avait dit, nous l'avons vu dans la ville de notre Dieu, dans la ville de YahvéSabaot; Dieu l'affermit à jamais.
10 We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.	10 Nous méditons, Dieu, ton amour au milieu de ton Temple!
11 According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of justice.	11 Comme ton nom, Dieu, ta louange, jusqu'au bout de la terre! Ta droite est remplie de justice,
12 Let mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Juda be glad; because of thy judgments, O Lord.	12 le mont Sion jubile; les filles de Juda exultent devant tes jugements.
13 Surround Sion, and encompass her: tell ye in her towers.	13 Longez Sion, parcourez-la, dénombrez ses tours;
14 Set your hearts on her strength; and distribute her houses, that ye may relate it in another generation.	14 que vos coeurs s'attachent à ses murs, détaillez ses palais; pour raconter aux âges futurs
15 For this is God, our God unto eternity, and for ever and ever: he shall rule us for evermore.	15 que lui est Dieu, notre Dieu aux siècles des siècles, lui, il nous conduit!
