1 «Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el viñador.	1 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father's commandments, and do abide in his love.

4 Permaneced en mí, como yo en vosotros. Lo mismo que el sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid; así tampoco vosotros si no permanecéis en mí.	4 dummy verses inserted by amos
5 Yo soy la vid; vosotros los sarmientos. El que permanece en mí y yo en él, ése da mucho fruto; porque separados de mí no podéis hacer nada.	5 dummy verses inserted by amos
6 Si alguno no permanece en mí, es arrojado fuera, como el sarmiento, y se seca; luego los recogen, los echan al fuego y arden.	6 dummy verses inserted by amos
7 Si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pedid lo que queráis y lo conseguiréis.	7 dummy verses inserted by amos

10 Si guardáis mis mandamientos, permaneceréis en mi amor, como yo he guardado los mandamientos de mi Padre, y permanezco en su amor.	10 dummy verses inserted by amos
11 Os he dicho esto, para que mi gozo esté en vosotros, y vuestro gozo sea colmado.	11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.
12 Este es el mandamiento mío: que os améis los unos a los otros como yo os he amado.	12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Nadie tiene mayor amor que el que da su vida por sus amigos.	13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Vosotros sois mis amigos, si hacéis lo que yo os mando.	14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.
15 No os llamo ya siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su amo; a vosotros os he llamado amigos, porque todo lo que he oído a mi Padre os lo he dado a conocer.	15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.
16 No me habéis elegido vosotros a mí, sino que yo os he elegido a vosotros, y os he destinado para que vayáis y deis fruto, y que vuestro fruto permanezca; de modo que todo lo que pidáis al Padre en mi nombre os lo conceda.	16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 Lo que os mando es que os améis los unos a los otros».	17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
18 «Si el mundo os odia, sabed que a mí me ha odiado antes que a vosotros.	18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.
19 Su fuerais del mundo, el mundo amaría lo suyo; pero, como no sois del mundo, porque yo al elegiros os he sacado del mundo, por eso os odia el mundo.	19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Acordaos de la palabra que os he dicho: El siervo no es más que su señor. Si a mí me han perseguido, también os perseguirán a vosotros; si han guardado mi Palabra, también la vuestra guardarán.	20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21 Pero todo esto os lo harán por causa de mi nombre, porque no conocen al que me ha enviado.	21 But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him who sent me.
22 Si yo no hubiera venido y no les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora no tienen excusa de su pecado.	22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 El que me odia, odia también a mi Padre.	23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.
24 Si no hubiera hecho entre ellos obras que no ha hecho ningún otro, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora las han visto, y nos odian a mí y a mi Padre.	24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 Pero es para que se cumpla lo que está escrito en su Ley: Me han odiado sin motivo.	25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.
26 Cuando venga el Paráclito, que yo os enviaré de junto al Padre, el Espíritu de la verdad, que procede del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.	26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.
27 Pero también vosotros daréis testimonio, porque estáis conmigo desde el principio.	27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.
