1 Après un détour, nous avons pris la route du Bashan. Og, roi du Bashan, vint à notre rencontre à Édréï pour combattre avec tout son peuple.	1 "Then we turned and proceeded toward Bashan. But Og, king of Bashan, advanced against us with all his people to give battle at Edrei.
2 Alors Yahvé me dit: “N’aie pas peur! Je te l’ai livré avec tout son peuple et tout son pays. Tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amorites, qui habitait à Heshbon.”	2 The LORD, however, said to me, 'Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hand with all his people and his land. Do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.'
3 Yahvé notre Dieu nous livra donc Og, roi du Bashan, et tout son peuple. Nous l’avons écrasé au point de ne lui laisser aucun survivant.	3 And thus the LORD, our God, delivered into our hands Og, king of Bashan, with all his people. We defeated him so completely that we left him no survivor.
4 Nous avons pris toutes ses villes: des 60 villes de toute la région d’Argob, dans le royaume d’Og de Bashan, pas une seule ne nous a résisté.	4 At that time we captured all his cities, none of them eluding our grasp, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan: sixty cities in all,
5 Pourtant, toutes ces villes étaient fortifiées avec de hautes murailles, des portes et des barres. Sans compter les villes non fortifiées qui étaient en très grand nombre.	5 to say nothing of the great number of unwalled towns. All the cities were fortified with high walls and gates and bars.
6 Nous les avons toutes vouées à l’anathème, comme nous l’avions fait pour Sihon, roi de Heshbon, avec les hommes, les femmes et les enfants.	6 As we had done to Sihon, king of Heshbon, so also here we doomed all the cities, with their men, women and children;
7 Mais nous avons gardé pour nous tout le bétail et le butin de ces villes.	7 but all the livestock and the loot of each city we took as booty for ourselves.
8 Nous avons donc enlevé dans ce temps-là aux deux rois des Amorites le pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, depuis le torrent de l’Arnon jusqu’au mont Hermon.	8 "And so at that time we took from the two kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan the territory from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon
9 (Les habitants de Sidon appellent l’Hermon, Siryon, mais les Amorites l’appellent Sénir.)	9 (which is called Sirion by the Sidonians and Senir by the Amorites),
10 Nous avons donc pris toutes les villes du Haut-Plateau, tout le Galaad et tout le Bashan jusqu’à Salka et Édréï, capitale d’Og de Bashan.	10 comprising all the cities of the plateau and all Gilead and all the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan including Salecah and Edrei.
11 Cet Og de Bashan était resté seul de la race des Réphaïm et c’est son lit de fer long de neuf coudées et large de quatre coudées (des coudées d’homme), qu’on voit encore à Rabba-d’Ammon.	11 (Og, king of Bashan, was the last remaining survivor of the Rephaim. He had a bed of iron, nine regular cubits long and four wide, which is still preserved in Rabbah of the Ammonites.)
12 En ce temps-là nous avons conquis ce pays. Je l’ai donné à la tribu de Ruben et à la tribu de Gad, depuis Aroër qui est sur le torrent d’Arnon, ainsi que la moitié de la montagne de Galaad avec ses villes.	12 "When we occupied the land at that time, I gave Reuben and Gad the territory from Aroer, on the edge of the Wadi Arnon, halfway up into the highlands of Gilead, with the cities therein.
13 J’ai donné à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé le reste de Galaad et tout le Bashan (le royaume d’Og, tout le district d’Argob avec tout le Bashan. On l’appelait alors le pays des Réphaïm).	13 The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, the whole Argob region, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All this region of Bashan was once called a land of the Rephaim.
14 Yaïr, fils de Manassé, s’empara de tout le district d’Argob, jusqu’à la frontière des Guéchourites et des Maakatites. Aux villages du Bashan il donna son propre nom: on les appelle encore aujourd’hui les Douars de Yaïr.	14 Jair, a Manassehite clan, took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and called it after his own name Bashan Havvoth-jair, the name it bears today.)
15 Quant à Makir, je lui ai donné Galaad.	15 To Machir I gave Gilead,
16 À Ruben et à Gad, j’ai donné le Galaad jusqu’au torrent de l’Arnon avec comme frontière: d’un côté, le milieu du torrent, et du côté des Ammonites, le torrent du Yabok.	16 and to Reuben and Gad the territory from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon--including the wadi bed and its banks--and to the Wadi Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites,
17 Je lui ai donné aussi la Araba avec le Jourdain comme frontière, depuis Kinnéret jusqu’à la mer de la Araba qu’on appelle aussi la Mer de Sel, au pied du Pisga à l’est.	17 as well as the Arabah with the Jordan and its eastern banks from Chinnereth to the Salt Sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.
18 En ce temps-là je vous ai donné des instructions. Je vous ai dit: “Yahvé votre Dieu vous a donné ce pays pour que vous le possédiez. Vous tous, hommes courageux, vous passerez en armes devant vos frères Israélites,	18 "At that time I charged them as follows 'The LORD, your God, has given you this land as your own. But all you troops equipped for battle must cross over in the vanguard of your brother Israelites.
19 mais vos femmes, vos petits-enfants et vos troupeaux qui sont, je le sais, très nombreux, resteront dans les villes que je vous ai données.”	19 Only your wives and children, as well as your livestock, of which I know you have a large number, shall remain behind in the towns I have given you,
20 Lorsque Yahvé aura donné à vos frères, comme à vous-mêmes, le repos, lorsqu’ils posséderont eux aussi le pays que Yahvé votre Dieu leur donne au-delà du Jourdain, alors chacun de vous pourra retourner dans l’héritage que je vous ai attribué.	20 until the LORD has settled your kinsmen as well, and they too possess the land which the LORD, your God, will give them on the other side of the Jordan. Then you may all return to the possessions I have given you.'
21 En ce temps-là j’ai donné aussi des instructions à Josué. Je lui ai dit: “Tes yeux voient tout ce que Yahvé votre Dieu a fait à ces deux rois. Yahvé fera de même pour tous les royaumes que vous allez traverser.	21 "It was then that I instructed Joshua, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD, your God, has done to both these kings; so, too, will the LORD do to all the kingdoms which you will encounter over there.
22 Ne les craignez donc pas, car Yahvé votre Dieu combat pour vous.”	22 Fear them not, for the LORD, your God, will fight for you.'
23 En ce temps-là j’ai supplié Yahvé:	23 "And it was then that I besought the LORD,
24 “Seigneur Yahvé, lui ai-je dit, tu as commencé à montrer à ton serviteur ta grandeur et la puissance de ta main. Quel Dieu dans les cieux ou sur la terre, pourrait faire des œuvres et des exploits semblables aux tiens?	24 'O Lord GOD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and might. For what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds as mighty as yours?
25 Aussi maintenant je voudrais passer et voir le bon pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, cette belle montagne et le Liban.”	25 Ah, let me cross over and see this good land beyond the Jordan, this fine hill country, and the Lebanon!'
26 Mais Yahvé s’était fâché contre moi à cause de vous et il ne m’écouta pas. Et Yahvé me dit: “Cela suffit, ne me parle plus de cette affaire!	26 But the LORD was angry with me on your account and would not hear me. 'Enough!' the LORD said to me. 'Speak to me no more of this.
27 Tu vas monter au sommet du Pisga, et tu porteras ton regard à l’ouest, au nord, au sud et à l’est. Regarde bien, car tu ne traverseras pas ce Jourdain.	27 Go up to the top of Pisgah and look out to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east. Look well, for you shall not cross this Jordan.
28 Mais donne tes ordres à Josué, encourage-le, rends-le fort: lui passera en tête de ce peuple et le mettra en possession du pays que tu auras vu.”	28 Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall cross at the head of this people and shall put them in possession of the land you are to see.'
29 Après cela, nous sommes restés dans la Vallée en face de Beth-Péor.	29 This was while we were in the ravine opposite Beth-peor.
