1 Après avoir terminé tous ces discours, Jésus dit à ses disciples:	1 And it happened that, when Jesus had completed all these words, he said to his disciples,
2 "Vous savez que dans deux jours c’est la Pâque; le Fils de l’Homme sera livré pour être mis en croix.”	2 “You know that after two days the Passover will begin, and the Son of man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Au même moment les chefs des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple se réunissaient à la résidence du Grand Prêtre, qui s’appelait Caïphe.	3 Then the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.
4 Là ils se mirent d’accord pour s’emparer de Jésus dans un coup monté et pour le mettre à mort.	4 And they took counsel so that by deceitfulness they might take hold of Jesus and kill him.
5 Mais ils disaient: "Pas durant la fête, car le peuple pourrait s’agiter.”	5 But they said, “Not on the feast day, lest perhaps there may be a tumult among the people.”
6 Tandis que Jésus était à Béthanie dans la maison de Simon le lépreux,	6 And when Jesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 une femme s’approcha de lui. Elle apportait un vase d’albâtre avec du parfum de myrrhe de grande valeur, et elle répandit le parfum sur sa tête pendant qu’il était allongé avec les invités.	7 a woman drew near to him, holding an alabaster box of precious ointment, and she poured it over his head while he was reclining at table.

9 On aurait pu vendre ce parfum très cher et donner l’argent aux pauvres.”	9 For this could have been sold for a great deal, so as to be given to the poor.”
10 Mais Jésus s’en aperçoit et il leur dit: "Pourquoi cherchez-vous des ennuis à cette femme? Ce qu’elle vient de faire pour moi est une bonne œuvre.	10 But Jesus, knowing this, said to them: “Why are you bothering this woman? For she has done a good deed to me.
11 Des pauvres, vous en avez toujours avec vous, mais moi vous ne m’aurez pas toujours.	11 For the poor you will always have with you. But you will not always have me.
12 Elle préparait déjà ma sépulture quand elle a versé sur mon corps ce parfum de myrrhe.	12 For in pouring this ointment on my body, she has prepared for my burial.
13 “En vérité je vous le dis, partout où cet Évangile sera proclamé, dans le monde entier, on dira aussi ce qu’elle a fait et on se souviendra d’elle.”	13 Amen I say to you, wherever this Gospel will be preached in the whole world, what she has done also shall be told, in memory of her.”
14 À ce moment l’un des Douze, qui s’appelait Judas Iscariote, alla trouver les chefs des prêtres	14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the leaders of the priests,
15 et leur dit: "Combien me donnerez-vous pour que je vous le livre?” Ils lui donnèrent trente pièces d’argent,	15 and he said to them, “What are you willing to give me, if I hand him over to you?” So they appointed thirty pieces of silver for him.
16 et dès lors il chercha l’occasion de le livrer.	16 And from then on, he sought an opportunity to betray him.
17 Le premier jour des Pains sans Levain, les disciples vinrent demander à Jésus: "Où mangeras-tu la Pâque? Où veux-tu que nous la préparions?”	17 Then, on the first day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus, saying, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”
18 Il leur dit: "Allez à la ville, chez un tel, et dites-lui: Le Maître te fait dire: Mon heure est proche, je veux faire la Pâque chez toi avec mes disciples.”	18 So Jesus said, “Go into the city, to a certain one, and say to him: ‘The Teacher said: My time is near. I am observing the Passover with you, along with my disciples.’ ”
19 Les disciples firent comme Jésus l’avait ordonné et ils préparèrent la Pâque.	19 And the disciples did just as Jesus appointed to them. And they prepared the Passover.
20 Le soir venu, Jésus se mit à table avec les Douze et,	20 Then, when evening arrived, he sat at table with his twelve disciples.
21 pendant qu’ils mangeaient, il leur dit: "En vérité je vous le dis, l’un de vous va me livrer.”	21 And while they were eating, he said: “Amen I say to you, that one of you is about to betray me.”
22 Ils en étaient profondément peinés et chacun se mit à lui demander: "Ce serait moi, Seigneur?”	22 And being greatly saddened, each one of them began to say, “Surely, it is not I, Lord?”
23 Et lui leur dit: "La main du traître était avec la mienne, prenant du même plat!	23 But he responded by saying: “He who dips his hand with me into the dish, the same will betray me.
24 Le Fils de l’Homme s’en va comme l’Écriture le dit de lui, mais malheur à cet homme par qui le Fils de l’Homme est livré. Il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’il ne soit pas né.”	24 Indeed, the Son of man goes, just as it has been written about him. But woe to that man by whom the Son of man will be betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”
25 Judas prit également la parole: "Ce serait moi, Seigneur?” Et Jésus répondit: "Tu l’as dit.”	25 Then Judas, who betrayed him, responded by saying, “Surely, it is not I, Master?” He said to him, “You have said it.”
26 Pendant qu’ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain, prononça une bénédiction et le rompit. Puis il le donna aux disciples en disant: "Prenez et mangez, ceci est mon corps.”	26 Now while they were eating the meal, Jesus took bread, and he blessed and broke and gave it to his disciples, and he said: “Take and eat. This is my body.”
27 Ensuite il prit la coupe, il rendit grâce et la leur donna en disant: "Buvez-en tous;	27 And taking the chalice, he gave thanks. And he gave it to them, saying: “Drink from this, all of you.
28 ceci est mon sang, le sang de l’alliance, qui est versé pour une multitude, pour le pardon des péchés.	28 For this is my blood of the new covenant, which shall be shed for many as a remission of sins.
29 “Maintenant je vous le dis: je ne boirai plus de ce produit de la vigne jusqu’au jour où, avec vous, je boirai le vin nouveau dans le Royaume de mon Père.”	29 But I say to you, I will not drink again from this fruit of the vine, until that day when I will drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.”
30 Après cela ils chantèrent les hymnes et partirent vers le mont des Oliviers.	30 And after a hymn was sung, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Alors Jésus leur dit: "Cette nuit vous allez tous chuter à cause de moi. Car il est écrit: Je frapperai le pasteur et les brebis du troupeau seront dispersées.	31 Then Jesus said to them: “You will all fall away from me in this night. For it has been written: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 Mais quand je me relèverai, j’irai vous attendre en Galilée.”	32 But after I have risen again, I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Pierre lui dit: "Même si tous tombent et abandonnent, moi jamais!”	33 Then Peter responded by saying to him, “Even if everyone else has fallen away from you, I will never fall away.”
34 Jésus répond: "En vérité je te le dis, cette nuit même, avant que le coq ne chante, tu m’auras renié trois fois.”	34 Jesus said to him, “Amen I say to you, that in this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
35 Mais Pierre continue: "Même s’il me fallait mourir avec toi, je ne te renierais pas.” Et tous les disciples disent la même chose.	35 Peter said to him, “Even if it is necessary for me to die with you, I will not deny you.” And all the disciples spoke similarly.
36 Après cela Jésus arrive avec eux à une propriété appelée Gethsémani et il dit aux disciples: "Asseyez-vous ici pendant que j’irai prier là-bas.”	36 Then Jesus went with them to a garden, which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples, “Sit down here, while I go there and pray.”
37 Jésus prend avec lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, et il commence à être envahi par la tristesse et l’angoisse.	37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and saddened.
38 Il leur dit: "Mon âme est triste à en mourir. Restez ici et veillez avec moi.”	38 Then he said to them: “My soul is sorrowful, even unto death. Stay here and keep vigil with me.”
39 Puis il s’éloigne un peu et se prosterne face contre terre pour prier, disant: "Mon Père, si c’est possible, que cette coupe s’éloigne de moi. Cependant, non pas comme je veux, mais comme tu veux.”	39 And continuing on a little further, he fell prostrate on his face, praying and saying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this chalice pass away from me. Yet truly, let it not be as I will, but as you will.”
40 Jésus vient alors vers les disciples et les trouve endormis; il dit à Pierre: "Vous n’avez donc pas été capables de rester une heure éveillés avec moi.	40 And he approached his disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter: “So, were you not able to keep vigil with me for one hour?
41 Veillez et priez pour ne pas être pris dans la tentation. Car l’esprit est généreux, mais la chair est faible.”	41 Be vigilant and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. Indeed, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 De nouveau Jésus s’éloigne et il prie une deuxième fois: "Mon Père, si cette coupe ne peut passer sans que je la boive, que ta volonté soit faite!”	42 Again, a second time, he went and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this chalice cannot pass away, unless I drink it, let your will be done.”
43 Il revient et les trouve encore endormis: leurs yeux étaient lourds de sommeil.	43 And again, he went and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 Alors il les laisse, et une troisième fois il répète la même prière.	44 And leaving them behind, again he went and prayed for the third time, saying the same words.
45 Lorsqu’il revient vers les disciples il leur dit: "C’est bien le moment de dormir et de vous reposer! L’heure est venue, et le Fils de l’Homme va être livré entre les mains des pécheurs.	45 Then he approached his disciples and said to them: “Sleep now and rest. Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of sinners.
46 Levez-vous, allons! Celui qui me trahit est déjà là.”	46 Rise up; let us go. Behold, he who will betray me draws near.”
47 Jésus parlait encore lorsque arriva Judas, l’un des Douze, et avec lui les gens des chefs des prêtres et des Anciens du peuple, toute une troupe armée d’épées et de gourdins.	47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people.
48 Celui qui le trahissait leur avait donné un signe: "C’est celui que j’embrasserai. Arrêtez-le.”	48 And he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying: “Whomever I will kiss, it is he. Take hold of him.”
49 Aussitôt il approcha de Jésus et lui dit: "Salut, maître.” Et il l’embrassa.	49 And quickly drawing close to Jesus, he said, “Hail, Master.” And he kissed him.
50 Jésus lui dit: "Ami, fais donc ce qui t’amène.” Alors ils mirent la main sur lui et l’arrêtèrent	50 And Jesus said to him, “Friend, for what purpose have you come?” Then they approached, and they put their hands on Jesus, and they held him.
51 À ce moment, un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus tira son épée, frappa le serviteur du Grand Prêtre et lui coupa l’oreille.	51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus, extending his hand, drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
52 Alors Jésus lui dit: "Remets ton épée à sa place. Tous ceux qui prennent l’épée périssent par l’épée.	52 Then Jesus said to him: “Put your sword back in its place. For all who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.
53 Crois-tu que je ne pourrais pas faire appel à mon Père et il m’enverrait sur-le-champ douze légions d’anges?	53 Or do you think that I cannot ask my Father, so that he would give me, even now, more than twelve legions of Angels?
54 Si les Écritures disent que cela doit être, ne doivent-elles pas s’accomplir?”	54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must be so?”
55 À ce moment Jésus dit à la foule: "Pour m’arrêter vous êtes venus avec épées et gourdins, comme si j’étais un brigand! Tous les jours pourtant j’allais m’asseoir dans le Temple pour y enseigner, et vous ne m’avez pas arrêté!	55 In that same hour, Jesus said to the crowds: “You went out, as if to a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me. Yet I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not take hold of me.
56 Mais tout cela s’est fait de façon que s’accomplissent les écrits prophétiques.” À ce moment-là tous les disciples l’abandonnèrent et s’enfuirent.	56 But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples fled, abandoning him.
57 Ceux qui avaient arrêté Jésus l’amenèrent chez le Grand Prêtre Caïphe. Là se réunirent les maîtres de la Loi et les Anciens.	57 But those who were holding Jesus led him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had joined together.
58 Pierre avait suivi de loin, jusqu’à la résidence du Grand Prêtre; il entra et s’assit avec les hommes de la police du Temple pour voir la fin.	58 Then Peter followed him from a distance, as far as the court of the high priest. And going inside, he sat down with the servants, so that he might see the end.
59 Les chefs des prêtres et tout le conseil du Sanhédrin cherchaient un faux témoignage pour condamner Jésus à mort.	59 Then the leaders of the priests and the entire council sought false testimony against Jesus, so that they might deliver him to death.
60 Plusieurs faux témoins se présentèrent, mais on ne trouva rien. Voici pourtant que deux se présentent	60 And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses had come forward. Then, at the very end, two false witnesses came forward,
61 et déclarent: "Cet homme a dit: Je suis capable de détruire le Temple de Dieu et de le rebâtir en trois jours.”	61 and they said, “This man said: ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and, after three days, to rebuild it.’ ”
62 Alors le Grand Prêtre se lève et lui demande: "Tu ne réponds rien? Quelle est cette histoire dont ils t’accusent?”	62 And the high priest, rising up, said to him, “Have you nothing to respond to what these ones testify against you?”
63 Mais Jésus gardait le silence. Alors le Grand Prêtre lui dit: "Au nom du Dieu vivant, je t’ordonne de nous dire si tu es le Messie, le Fils de Dieu.”	63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, “I bind you by an oath to the living God to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
64 Et Jésus répond: "Tu l’as dit! Et j’ajoute que dès maintenant vous verrez le Fils de l’Homme siéger à la droite du Tout-Puissant et venir sur les nuées du ciel.”	64 Jesus said to him: “You have said it. Yet truly I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Aussitôt le Grand Prêtre déchire ses vêtements en disant: "Il a blasphémé! Qu’avons-nous à faire de témoins? Vous venez d’entendre le blasphème.	65 Then the high priest tore his garments, saying: “He has blasphemed. Why do we still need witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy.
66 Quel est votre avis?” Ils répondent: "Il mérite la mort!”	66 How does it seem to you?” So they responded by saying, “He is guilty unto death.”
67 À ce moment on commence à le gifler et à lui cracher à la figure; d’autres le frappent	67 Then they spit in his face, and they struck him with fists. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands,
68 en disant: "Messie, fais le prophète, dis-nous qui t’a frappé!”	68 saying: “Prophesy for us, O Christ. Who is the one that struck you?”
69 Pierre était toujours assis dehors dans la cour. Or voici qu’une petite servante s’approche et lui dit: "Toi aussi, tu étais avec Jésus le Galiléen.”	69 Yet truly, Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a maidservant approached him, saying, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 Mais lui le nie devant tout le monde et il répond: "Je ne sais pas ce que tu veux dire.”	70 But he denied it in the sight of them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”
71 Comme il se rapproche de la porte pour sortir, une autre le voit et dit à ceux qui sont là: "Il accompagnait Jésus, le Nazaréen.”	71 Then, as he exited by the gate, another maidservant saw him. And she said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 De nouveau Pierre nie et même il jure: "Je ne connais pas cet homme!”	72 And again, he denied it with an oath, “For I do not know the man.”
73 Un peu plus tard ceux qui sont présents disent à Pierre: "Tu es sûrement l’un des leurs, tu as bien l’accent de là-bas.”	73 And after a little while, those who were standing nearby came and said to Peter: “Truly, you also are one of them. For even your manner of speaking reveals you.”
74 Mais lui commence à lancer des malédictions et à jurer: "Je ne connais pas cet homme!” Presque aussitôt un coq chante	74 Then he began to curse and to swear that he had not known the man. And immediately the rooster crowed.
75 et Pierre se rappelle le mot que Jésus lui a dit: "Avant que le coq ne chante, tu m’auras renié trois fois.” Alors il sort et il pleure amèrement.	75 And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, which he had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And going outside, he wept bitterly.
