Sirach 35

1 Whoever observes the law multiplies oblations.	1 Celui qui observe la loi multiplie les sacrifices.
2 It is a salutary sacrifice to attend to the commandments and to withdraw from all iniquity.	2 C'est un sacrifice salutaire que d'être attentif aux commandements et de s'éloigner de toute iniquité.
3 And to depart from injustice is to offer a propitiatory sacrifice for injustices and a supplication for sins.	3 Offrir un sacrifice de propitiation pour les offenses et prier pour ses péchés, c'est s'écarter de l'injustice.
4 Whoever gives thanks, offers a gift of fine flour, and whoever acts with mercy, offers a sacrifice.	4 Celui qui offre la fleur de farine rend grâces à Dieu, et celui qui fait miséricorde offre un sacrifice.
5 To withdraw from iniquity is well-pleasing to the Lord. And to withdraw from injustice is a supplication for sins.	5 S'abstenir du mal est ce qui plaît au Seigneur, et se retirer de l'injustice est une prière pour les péchés.
6 You should not appear empty before the sight of the Lord.	6 Tu ne paraîtras pas les mains vides devant le Seigneur;
7 For all these things are to be done because of the commandment of God.	7 car toutes ces choses se font par l'ordre de Dieu.
8 The oblation of the just fattens the altar, and is a fragrance of sweetness in the sight of the Most High.	8 L'offrande du juste engraisse l'autel, et elle est un suave parfum devant le Très-Haut.
9 The sacrifice of the just is acceptable, and the Lord will never forget the memorial of it.	9 Le sacrifice du juste est bien reçu, et le Seigneur n'en perdra point le souvenir.
10 Render glory to God with a good heart. And you should not reduce the first-fruits of your hands.	10 Rends gloire à Dieu de bon coeur, et ne retranche rien aux prémices de tes mains.
11 With every gift, have a cheerful countenance, and sanctify your tithes with exultation.	11 Fais tous tes dons avec un visage joyeux, et sanctifie tes dîmes par l'allégresse.
12 Give to the Most High according to his gifts to you, and act with a good eye toward the creations of your hands.	12 Donne au Très-Haut selon qu'Il t'a donné, et offre de bon coeur ce que tu as entre les mains;
13 For the Lord gives recompense, and he will repay you seven times as much.	13 car le Seigneur paye de retour, et Il rendra sept fois autant.
14 Do not be willing to offer corrupt gifts. For he will not accept them.	14 N'offre pas de présents pervers, car Il ne les recevra point.
15 And do not be willing to consider an unjust sacrifice. For the Lord is the judge, and with him there is no favoritism toward anyone.	15 N'espère rien d'un sacrifice d'iniquité,, car le Seigneur est un juge qui n'a point égard à la grandeur des personnes.
16 The Lord will not accept favoritism against the poor, but he will heed the prayer of one who has been harmed.	16 Le Seigneur ne fera point acception de personne contre le pauvre, et Il exaucera la prière de l'opprimé.
17 He will not despise the prayers of the orphan, nor of the widow, if she utters a lamenting complaint.	17 Il ne méprisera point la prière de l'orphelin, ni la veuve qui répand ses gémissements devant Lui.
18 Do a widow’s tears not run down her cheek? And will her outcry not cause their downfall?	18 Les larmes de la veuve ne descendent-elles pas sur ses joues, et ses cris n'accusent-ils pas celui qui les fait couler?
19 For from her cheek, her tears ascend even to heaven. And the Lord, the One who listens, will not take delight in them.	19 Car de ses joues elles montent jusqu'au Ciel, et le Seigneur qui l'exauce ne les voit pas avec plaisir.
20 Whoever adores God with joy will be accepted, and his prayer will reach even to the clouds.	20 Celui qui adore Dieu avec joie sera bien reçu de Lui, et sa prière montera jusqu'aux nues.
21 The prayer of one who humbles himself will pierce the clouds. And it will not be consoled until it draws near; and it will not withdraw until the Most High beholds.	21 La prière d'un homme qui s'humilie percera les nues; il ne se consolera que lorsqu'elle se sera approchée de Dieu, et il ne se retirera point jusqu'à ce que le Très-Haut l'ait regardé.
22 And the Lord will not delay, and he will judge for those who are just, and he will accomplish judgment. And the Almighty will not have patience with them, so that he may crush their back.	22 Et le Seigneur ne différera pas longtemps, mais Il prendra la défense des justes et leur fera justice; le Très-Fort n'aura plus de patience envers leurs oppresseurs, mais Il leur brisera le dos;
23 And he will repay vengeance to the Gentiles, until he has taken away the multitude of the arrogant, and broken the scepters of the iniquitous,	23 et Il se vengera des nations, jusqu'à ce qu'Il ait enlevé toute la multitude des superbes, et qu'Il ait brisé les sceptres des injustes;
24 until he has rendered to men according to their deeds, and according to the works of Adam, and according to his presumption,	24 jusqu'à ce qu'Il ait rendu aux hommes selon leurs oeuvres, et selon les actes et la présomption d'Adam;
25 until he has judged the judgment of his people. And he will delight the just with his mercy.	25 jusqu'à ce qu'Il ait rendu justice à Son peuple, et réjoui les justes par Sa miséricorde.
26 The mercy of God is beautiful in the time of tribulation, like a rain cloud in the time of drought.	26 La miséricorde de Dieu, au temps de l'affliction, est agréable comme la nuée qui répand la pluie au temps de la sécheresse.
