¹ Pošto je sav narod prešao preko Jordana, reče Jahve Jošui:	¹ After the entire nation had crossed the Jordan,
² »Izaberite iz naroda dvanaest ljudi, od svakoga plemena po jednoga,	² the LORD said to Joshua, "Choose twelve men from the people, one from each tribe,
³ i zapovjedite im: ‘Dignite odavde, iz sredine Jordana – s mjesta gdje stoje noge svećenika – dvanaest kamenova koje ćete ponijeti sa sobom i položiti na mjestu gdje budete noćas prenoćili.’«	³ and instruct them to take up twelve stones from this spot in the bed of the Jordan where the priests have been standing motionless. Carry them over with you, and place them where you are to stay tonight."
⁴ Tada pozva Jošua dvanaest ljudi koje je bio izabrao između sinova Izraelovih, iz svakoga plemena po jednoga čovjeka,	⁴ Summoning the twelve men whom he had selected from among the Israelites, one from each tribe,
⁵ i reče im: »Idite pred Kovčeg Jahve, Boga svoga, u sredinu Jordana, i neka svaki donese na svojim ramenima po jedan kamen prema broju plemena Izraelovih.	⁵ Joshua said to them: "Go to the bed of the Jordan in front of the ark of the LORD, your God; lift to your shoulders one stone apiece, so that they will equal in number the tribes of the Israelites.
⁶ To će biti na spomen među vama. Kad vas jednoga dana budu pitala vaša djeca: ‘Što vam znače ovi kamenovi?’ –	⁶ In the future, these are to be a sign among you. When your children ask you what these stones mean to you,
⁷ reći ćete im: ‘Voda se Jordana razdijelila pred Kovčegom saveza Jahvina kad je prelazio preko Jordana.’ I ovo će kamenje biti vječni spomen sinovima Izraelovim.«	⁷ you shall answer them, 'The waters of the Jordan ceased to flow before the ark of the covenant of the LORD when it crossed the Jordan.' Thus these stones are to serve as a perpetual memorial to the Israelites."
⁸ Izraelci učine kako im je zapovjedio Jošua: uzmu dvanaest kamenova iz sredine Jordana, prema broju plemena Izraelovih, kako je Jahve naredio Jošui; prenesu ih do svoga noćišta i polože ondje.	⁸ The twelve Israelites did as Joshua had commanded: they took up as many stones from the bed of the Jordan as there were tribes of the Israelites, and carried them along to the camp site, where they placed them, according to the LORD'S direction.
⁹ Zatim Jošua postavi usred Jordana dvanaest kamenova na mjesta gdje su stajale noge svećenika koji su nosili Kovčeg saveza. Ondje stoje i danas.	⁹ Joshua also had twelve stones set up in the bed of the Jordan on the spot where the priests stood who were carrying the ark of the covenant. They are there to this day.
¹⁰ Svećenici koji su nosili Kovčeg saveza stajali su usred Jordana, sve dok se nije izvršilo sve što je Jahve zapovjedio Jošui da narod izvrši, sasvim onako kao što Mojsije bijaše naredio Jošui. A narod je žurno prelazio.	¹⁰ The priests carrying the ark remained in the bed of the Jordan until everything had been done that the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell the people. The people crossed over quickly,
¹¹ Pošto je sav narod prešao, prijeđu i svećenici s Kovčegom saveza Jahvina i krenu pred narodom.	¹¹ and when all had reached the other side, the ark of the LORD, borne by the priests, also crossed to its place in front of them.
¹² Tada sinovi Rubenovi i sinovi Gadovi i polovina plemena Manašeova u bojnoj opremi stanu na čelo sinova Izraelovih, kao što im bijaše zapovjedio Mojsije.	¹² The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh, armed, marched in the vanguard of the Israelites, as Moses had ordered.
¹³ Oko četrdeset tisuća naoružanih ljudi prešlo je pred Jahvom da se bori na Jerihonskim poljanama.	¹³ About forty thousand troops equipped for battle passed over before the LORD to the plains of Jericho.
¹⁴ Toga dana uzvisi Jahve Jošuu pred svim Izraelom i svi ga se bojahu, kao nekoć Mojsija, u sve dane njegova života.	¹⁴ That day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and thenceforth during his whole life they respected him as they had respected Moses.
¹⁵ Jahve reče Jošui:	¹⁵ Then the LORD said to Joshua,
¹⁶ »Zapovjedi svećenicima koji nose Kovčeg saveza neka izađu iz Jordana.«	¹⁶ "Command the priests carrying the ark of the commandments to come up from the Jordan."
¹⁷ Tada Jošua zapovjedi svećenicima: »Izađite iz Jordana!«	¹⁷ Joshua did so,
¹⁸ A čim su svećenici koji su nosili Kovčeg saveza Jahvina izašli iz Jordana i stali nogama na suho, vrate se vode Jordana na svoje mjesto i poteku kao i prije preko svojih obala.	¹⁸ and when the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD had come up from the bed of the Jordan, as the soles of their feet regained the dry ground, the waters of the Jordan resumed their course and as before overflowed all its banks.
¹⁹ Narod je izašao iz Jordana desetog dana prvoga mjeseca. Tada se utaborio u Gilgalu, istočno od Jerihona.	¹⁹ The people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and camped in Gilgal on the eastern limits of Jericho.
²⁰ A onih dvanaest kamenova što su ih uzeli sa sobom iz Jordana Jošua postavi u Gilgalu.	²⁰ At Gilgal Joshua set up the twelve stones which had been taken from the Jordan,
²¹ Tada reče Izraelcima: »Ako potomci vaši upitaju jednoga dana svoje očeve: ‘Što znači ovo kamenje?’ –	²¹ saying to the Israelites, "In the future, when the children among you ask their fathers what these stones mean,
²² vi ih poučite ovako: ‘Izrael je ovdje po suhu prešao preko Jordana	²² you shall inform them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan here on dry ground.'
²³ jer je Jahve, Bog vaš, osušio pred vama vodu Jordana dok ne prijeđoste, kao što je učinio Jahve, Bog vaš, s Morem crvenim kad ga je osušio pred nama dok ne prijeđosmo.	²³ For the LORD, your God, dried up the waters of the Jordan in front of you until you crossed over, just as the LORD, your God, had done at the Red Sea, which he dried up in front of us until we crossed over;
²⁴ A sve to, da bi znali svi narodi zemlje koliko je moćna ruka Jahvina, i vi sami da se svagda bojite Jahve, Boga svoga.’«	²⁴ in order that all the peoples of the earth may learn that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and that you may fear the LORD, your God, forever."
