1 "A man shall not marry his father's wife, nor shall he dishonor his father's bed.	1 Un homme ne prendra pas la femme de son père: il ne découvrira pas la nudité de son père.
2 "No one whose testicles have been crushed or whose penis has been cut off may be admitted into the community of the LORD.	2 Si quelqu’un a les testicules écrasés ou l’urètre coupé, il n’entrera pas dans la communauté de Yahvé.
3 No child of an incestuous union may be admitted into the community of the LORD, nor any descendant of his even to the tenth generation.	3 Le métis non plus n’entrera pas dans la communauté de Yahvé. Même à la dixième génération il est exclu de la communauté de Yahvé.
4 No Ammonite or Moabite may ever be admitted into the community of the LORD, nor any descendants of theirs even to the tenth generation,	4 L’Ammonite et le Moabite seront exclus de la communauté de Yahvé; même à la dixième génération, ils n’entreront pas dans la communauté de Yahvé.
5 because they would not succor you with food and water on your journey after you left Egypt, and because Moab hired Balaam, son of Beor, from Pethor in Aram Naharaim, to curse you;	5 En effet, ils ne sont pas venus au-devant de vous sur la route, avec du pain et de l’eau, lorsque vous sortiez d’Égypte. Plus encore, ils ont payé pour vous maudire, Balaam, fils de Béor, de Pétor en Mésopotamie.
6 though the LORD, your God, would not listen to Balaam and turned his curse into a blessing for you, because he loves you.	6 Mais Yahvé ton Dieu n’a pas voulu écouter Balaam; Yahvé ton Dieu t’aime, et il a retourné pour toi sa malédiction en bénédiction.
7 Never promote their peace and prosperity as long as you live.	7 C’est pourquoi, tout au long de ta vie, tu ne te soucieras pas de leur bien-être et de leur bonheur.
8 But do not abhor the Edomite, since he is your brother, nor the Egyptian, since you were an alien in his country.	8 Par contre, tu n’auras pas de haine pour l’Édomite, car il est ton frère. Tu n’auras pas de haine non plus pour l’Égyptien, car tu as été un étranger dans son pays.
9 Children born to them may in the third generation be admitted into the community of the LORD.	9 À la troisième génération, leurs descendants pourront entrer dans la communauté de Yahvé.
10 "When you are in camp during an expedition against your enemies, you shall keep yourselves from everything offensive.	10 Lorsque tu partiras en campagne contre tes ennemis, tu veilleras à ne commettre aucune action mauvaise.
11 If one of you becomes unclean because of a nocturnal emission, he shall go outside the camp, and not return until,	11 S’il y a au milieu de toi un homme impur à la suite d’une pollution nocturne, il sortira du camp et n’y rentrera pas.
12 toward evening, he has bathed in water; then, when the sun has set, he may come back into the camp.	12 À la tombée de la nuit il se baignera dans l’eau et, après le coucher du soleil, il rentrera à l’intérieur du camp.
13 Outside the camp you shall have a place set aside to be used as a latrine.	13 On fixera un endroit à l’extérieur du camp pour se retirer à l’écart.
14 You shall also keep a trowel in your equipment and with it, when you go outside to ease nature, you shall first dig a hole and afterward cover up your excrement.	14 Dans ton équipement tu auras une pique; lorsque tu t’accroupiras à l’écart, tu feras un trou avec ta pique, et lorsque tu te relèveras, tu recouvriras tes excréments.
15 Since the LORD, your God, journeys along within your camp to defend you and to put your enemies at your mercy, your camp must be holy; otherwise, if he sees anything indecent in your midst, he will leave your company.	15 Car Yahvé ton Dieu se promène au milieu de ton camp, pour te protéger et pour livrer tes ennemis entre tes mains; c’est pourquoi ton camp sera saint: Yahvé ne doit pas voir de saletés chez toi, sinon, il se détournerait de toi.
16 "You shall not hand over to his master a slave who has taken refuge from him with you.	16 Si un esclave s’est enfui de chez son maître pour venir chez toi, tu ne le lui livreras pas.
17 Let him live with you wherever he chooses, in any one of your communities that pleases him. Do not molest him.	17 Il demeurera chez toi, dans ta maison, au lieu qu’il aura choisi dans l’une de tes villes où bon lui semblera; et tu ne lui feras pas de mal.
18 "There shall be no temple harlot among the Israelite women, nor a temple prostitute among the Israelite men.	18 On ne trouvera pas de prostituées sacrées chez les filles d’Israël, ni de prostitués sacrés chez les fils d’Israël.
19 You shall not offer a harlot's fee or a dog's price as any kind of votive offering in the house of the LORD, your God; both these things are an abomination to the LORD, your God.	19 Quel que soit le vœu que tu aies fait, tu n’offriras pas dans la maison de Yahvé ton Dieu le salaire d’une prostituée ou celui d’un chien (un prostitué sacré), car Yahvé ton Dieu a en horreur l’un et l’autre.
20 "You shall not demand interest from your countrymen on a loan of money or of food or of anything else on which interest is usually demanded.	20 Tu ne prêteras pas à ton frère avec intérêt, qu’il s’agisse d’argent, ou de nourriture, ou de toute autre chose pour laquelle on demande un intérêt.
21 You may demand interest from a foreigner, but not from your countryman, so that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings on the land you are to enter and occupy.	21 À l’étranger tu prêteras avec intérêt, mais tu ne le feras pas pour ton frère. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu entreprendras sur cette terre où tu vas entrer pour la posséder.
22 "When you make a vow to the LORD, your God, you shall not delay in fulfilling it; otherwise you will be held guilty, for the LORD, your God, is strict in requiring it of you.	22 Lorsque tu feras un vœu à Yahvé ton Dieu, tu l’accompliras sans tarder, sinon Yahvé ton Dieu t’en demanderait compte et tu pécherais contre lui.
23 Should you refrain from making a vow, you will not be held guilty.	23 Mais si tu ne fais pas de vœu, tu ne pèches pas.
24 But you must keep your solemn word and fulfill the votive offering you have freely promised to the LORD.	24 Tu veilleras à faire ce que tu auras promis: les vœux que tu as faits et les offrandes que tu as promises à Yahvé ton Dieu.
25 "When you go through your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat as many of his grapes as you wish, but do not put them in your basket.	25 Lorsque tu traverseras la vigne de ton prochain, tu pourras grappiller des raisins comme tu le voudras jusqu’à ne plus avoir faim, mais tu n’en mettras pas dans ton panier.
26 When you go through your neighbor's grainfield, you may pluck some of the ears with your hand, but do not put a sickle to your neighbor's grain.	26 De même lorsque tu traverseras les blés de ton prochain: tu pourras y cueillir des épis avec la main, mais tu ne mettras pas la faucille dans les blés de ton prochain.
