ειπατωσαν οι λελυτρωμενοι υπο κυριου ους ελυτρωσατο εκ χειρος εχθρου | 2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord say so: those whom he redeemed from the hand of the enemy and gathered from the regions, |
εκ των χωρων συνηγαγεν αυτους απο ανατολων και δυσμων και βορρα και θαλασσης | 3 from the rising of the sun and its setting, from the north and from the sea. |
επλανηθησαν εν τη ερημω εν ανυδρω οδον πολεως κατοικητηριου ουχ ευρον | 4 They wandered into solitude in a waterless place. They did not find the way of the city to be their dwelling place. |
πεινωντες και διψωντες η ψυχη αυτων εν αυτοις εξελιπεν | 5 They were hungry, and they were thirsty. Their soul fainted within them. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων ερρυσατο αυτους | 6 And they cried out to the Lord in tribulation, and he rescued them in their necessity. |
και ωδηγησεν αυτους εις οδον ευθειαν του πορευθηναι εις πολιν κατοικητηριου | 7 And he led them in the right way, so that they might go forth to a city of habitation. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 8 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men. |
οτι εχορτασεν ψυχην κενην και ψυχην πεινωσαν ενεπλησεν αγαθων | 9 For he has satisfied the empty soul, and he has satisfied the hungry soul with good things: |
καθημενους εν σκοτει και σκια θανατου πεπεδημενους εν πτωχεια και σιδηρω | 10 those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, shackled by extreme poverty and by iron. |
οτι παρεπικραναν τα λογια του θεου και την βουλην του υψιστου παρωξυναν | 11 For they exasperated the eloquence of God, and they irritated the deliberation of the Most High. |
και εταπεινωθη εν κοποις η καρδια αυτων ησθενησαν και ουκ ην ο βοηθων | 12 And their heart was brought low with hardships. They were weakened, and there was no one to help them. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εσωσεν αυτους | 13 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he freed them from their distress. |
και εξηγαγεν αυτους εκ σκοτους και σκιας θανατου και τους δεσμους αυτων διερρηξεν | 14 And he led them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and he broke apart their chains. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 15 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men. |
οτι συνετριψεν πυλας χαλκας και μοχλους σιδηρους συνεκλασεν | 16 For he has crushed the gates of brass and broken the iron bars. |
αντελαβετο αυτων εξ οδου ανομιας αυτων δια γαρ τας ανομιας αυτων εταπεινωθησαν | 17 He has taken them up, from the way of their iniquity. For they were brought low, because of their injustices. |
παν βρωμα εβδελυξατο η ψυχη αυτων και ηγγισαν εως των πυλων του θανατου | 18 Their soul abhorred all food, and they drew near even to the gates of death. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εσωσεν αυτους | 19 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he delivered them in their necessity. |
απεστειλεν τον λογον αυτου και ιασατο αυτους και ερρυσατο αυτους εκ των διαφθορων αυτων | 20 He sent his word, and he healed them, and he rescued them from their utter destruction. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 21 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men. |
και θυσατωσαν θυσιαν αινεσεως και εξαγγειλατωσαν τα εργα αυτου εν αγαλλιασει | 22 And let them offer sacrifice with the sacrifice of praise, and let them announce his works in exultation. |
οι καταβαινοντες εις την θαλασσαν εν πλοιοις ποιουντες εργασιαν εν υδασι πολλοις | 23 Those who descend to the sea in ships, making their livelihood in the great waters: |
αυτοι ειδοσαν τα εργα κυριου και τα θαυμασια αυτου εν τω βυθω | 24 these have seen the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep. |
ειπεν και εστη πνευμα καταιγιδος και υψωθη τα κυματα αυτης | 25 He spoke: and a windstorm stood up, and its waves were exalted. |
αναβαινουσιν εως των ουρανων και καταβαινουσιν εως των αβυσσων η ψυχη αυτων εν κακοις ετηκετο | 26 They ascend even to the heavens, and they descend even to the abyss. Their soul will waste away in distress. |
εταραχθησαν εσαλευθησαν ως ο μεθυων και πασα η σοφια αυτων κατεποθη | 27 They were troubled, and they moved like a drunkard, and all their wisdom was consumed. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εξηγαγεν αυτους | 28 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he led them out of their distress. |
και επεταξεν τη καταιγιδι και εστη εις αυραν και εσιγησαν τα κυματα αυτης | 29 And he replaced the storm with a breeze, and its waves were stilled. |
και ευφρανθησαν οτι ησυχασαν και ωδηγησεν αυτους επι λιμενα θεληματος αυτων | 30 And they were joyful that it was stilled, and he led them into the haven that they desired. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 31 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men. |
υψωσατωσαν αυτον εν εκκλησια λαου και εν καθεδρα πρεσβυτερων αινεσατωσαν αυτον | 32 And let them exalt him in the Church of the people, and praise him in the chair of the elders. |
εθετο ποταμους εις ερημον και διεξοδους υδατων εις διψαν | 33 He has placed rivers in the desert and sources of water in dry places, |
γην καρποφορον εις αλμην απο κακιας των κατοικουντων εν αυτη | 34 a fruit-bearing land in the midst of brine, before the malice of those who dwell in it. |
εθετο ερημον εις λιμνας υδατων και γην ανυδρον εις διεξοδους υδατων | 35 He has placed a desert in the midst of pools of waters, and a land without water in the midst of sources of water. |
και κατωκισεν εκει πεινωντας και συνεστησαντο πολιν κατοικεσιας | 36 And he has gathered the hungry together there, and they constructed a city of habitation. |
και εσπειραν αγρους και εφυτευσαν αμπελωνας και εποιησαν καρπον γενηματος | 37 And they sowed fields and planted vineyards, and they produced the fruit of nativity. |
και ευλογησεν αυτους και επληθυνθησαν σφοδρα και τα κτηνη αυτων ουκ εσμικρυνεν | 38 And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly. And he did not diminish their beasts of burden. |
και ωλιγωθησαν και εκακωθησαν απο θλιψεως κακων και οδυνης | 39 And they became few, and they were afflicted by the tribulation of evils and of sorrow. |
εξεχυθη εξουδενωσις επ' αρχοντας και επλανησεν αυτους εν αβατω και ουχ οδω | 40 Contempt was poured over their leaders, and he caused them to wander in an impassable place, and not on the way. |
και εβοηθησεν πενητι εκ πτωχειας και εθετο ως προβατα πατριας | 41 And he helped the poor out of destitution, and he stationed families like sheep. |
οψονται ευθεις και ευφρανθησονται και πασα ανομια εμφραξει το στομα αυτης | 42 The upright will see, and they will rejoice. And every iniquity will block its mouth. |
