1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?	1 [Für den Chormeister. Nach der Weise «Hinde der Morgenröte». Ein Psalm Davids.]
2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.	2 Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen, bist fern meinem Schreien, den Worten meiner Klage?
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.	3 Mein Gott, ich rufe bei Tag, doch du gibst keine Antwort; ich rufe bei Nacht und finde doch keine Ruhe.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.	4 Aber du bist heilig, du thronst über dem Lobpreis Israels.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.	5 Dir haben unsre Väter vertraut, sie haben vertraut und du hast sie gerettet.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.	6 Zu dir riefen sie und wurden befreit, dir vertrauten sie und wurden nicht zuschanden.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head saying,	7 Ich aber bin ein Wurm und kein Mensch, der Leute Spott, vom Volk verachtet.
8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.	8 Alle, die mich sehen, verlachen mich, verziehen die Lippen, schütteln den Kopf:
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.	9 «Er wälze die Last auf den Herrn, der soll ihn befreien! Der reiße ihn heraus, wenn er an ihm Gefallen hat.»
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.	10 Du bist es, der mich aus dem Schoß meiner Mutter zog, mich barg an der Brust der Mutter.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.	11 Von Geburt an bin ich geworfen auf dich, vom Mutterleib an bist du mein Gott.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.	12 Sei mir nicht fern, denn die Not ist nahe und niemand ist da, der hilft.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.	13 Viele Stiere umgeben mich, Büffel von Baschan umringen mich.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.	14 Sie sperren gegen mich ihren Rachen auf, reißende, brüllende Löwen.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.	15 Ich bin hingeschüttet wie Wasser, gelöst haben sich all meine Glieder. Mein Herz ist in meinem Leib wie Wachs zerflossen.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.	16 Meine Kehle ist trocken wie eine Scherbe, die Zunge klebt mir am Gaumen, du legst mich in den Staub des Todes.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.	17 Viele Hunde umlagern mich, eine Rotte von Bösen umkreist mich. Sie durchbohren mir Hände und Füße.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.	18 Man kann all meine Knochen zählen; sie gaffen und weiden sich an mir.
19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.	19 Sie verteilen unter sich meine Kleider und werfen das Los um mein Gewand.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.	20 Du aber, Herr, halte dich nicht fern! Du, meine Stärke, eil mir zu Hilfe!
21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.	21 Entreiße mein Leben dem Schwert, mein einziges Gut aus der Gewalt der Hunde!
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.	22 Rette mich vor dem Rachen des Löwen, vor den Hörnern der Büffel rette mich Armen!
23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.	23 Ich will deinen Namen meinen Brüdern verkünden, inmitten der Gemeinde dich preisen.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.	24 Die ihr den Herrn fürchtet, preist ihn, ihr alle vom Stamm Jakobs, rühmt ihn; erschauert alle vor ihm, ihr Nachkommen Israels!
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.	25 Denn er hat nicht verachtet, nicht verabscheut das Elend des Armen. Er verbirgt sein Gesicht nicht vor ihm; er hat auf sein Schreien gehört.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.	26 Deine Treue preise ich in großer Gemeinde; ich erfülle meine Gelübde vor denen, die Gott fürchten.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.	27 Die Armen sollen essen und sich sättigen; den Herrn sollen preisen, die ihn suchen. Aufleben soll euer Herz für immer.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.	28 Alle Enden der Erde sollen daran denken und werden umkehren zum Herrn: Vor ihm werfen sich alle Stämme der Völker nieder.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.	29 Denn der Herr regiert als König; er herrscht über die Völker.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.	30 Vor ihm allein sollen niederfallen die Mächtigen der Erde, vor ihm sich alle niederwerfen, die in der Erde ruhen. [Meine Seele, sie lebt für ihn;
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.	31 mein Stamm wird ihm dienen.] Vom Herrn wird man dem künftigen Geschlecht erzählen,
	32 seine Heilstat verkündet man dem kommenden Volk; denn er hat das Werk getan.
