Première épître aux Thessaloniciens 1

1 Paul, Silvain et Timothée, à l'Eglise des Thessaloniciens qui est en Dieu le Père et dans leSeigneur Jésus Christ. A vous grâce et paix.	1 Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians, in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Nous rendons grâces à Dieu à tout moment pour vous tous, en faisant mention de voussans cesse dans nos prières.	2 Grace and peace to you. We give thanks to God always for all of you, keeping the memory of you in our prayers without ceasing,
3 Nous nous rappelons en présence de notre Dieu et Père l'activité de votre foi, le labeur devotre charité, la constance de votre espérance, qui sont dus à notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.	3 remembering your work of faith, and hardship, and charity, and enduring hope, in our Lord Jesus Christ, before God our Father.
4 Nous le savons, frères aimés de Dieu, vous avez été choisis.	4 For we know, brothers, beloved of God, of your election.
5 Car notre Evangile ne s'est pas présenté à vous en paroles seulement, mais en puissance,dans l'action de l'Esprit Saint, en surabondance. De fait, vous savez comment nous nous sommes comportés aumilieu de vous pour votre service.	5 For our Gospel has not been among you in word alone, but also in virtue, and in the Holy Spirit, and with a great fullness, in the same manner as you know we have acted among you for your sake.
6 Et vous vous êtes mis à nous imiter, nous et le Seigneur, en accueillant la parole, parmibien des tribulations, avec la joie de l'Esprit Saint:	6 And so, you became imitators of us and of the Lord, accepting the Word in the midst of great tribulation, but with the joy of the Holy Spirit.
7 vous êtes ainsi devenus un modèle pour tous les croyants de Macédoine et d'Achaïe.	7 So have you become a pattern for all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
8 De chez vous, en effet, la parole du Seigneur a retenti, et pas seulement en Macédoine eten Achaïe, mais de tous côtés votre foi en Dieu s'est répandue, si bien que nous n'avons plus besoin d'en riendire.	8 For from you, the Word of the Lord was spread, not only in Macedonia and in Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith, which is toward God, has advanced so much so that we do not need to speak to you about anything.
9 On raconte là-bas comment nous sommes venus chez vous, et comment vous vous êtestournés vers Dieu, abandonnant les idoles pour servir le Dieu vivant et véritable,	9 For others are reporting among us of the kind of acceptance we had among you, and how you were converted from idols to God, to the service of the living and true God,
10 dans l'attente de son Fils qui viendra des cieux, qu'il a ressuscité des morts, Jésus, quinous délivre de la colère qui vient.	10 and to the expectation of his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead), Jesus, who has rescued us from the approaching wrath.
