Épître aux Colossiens 2

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Oui, je désire que vous sachiez quelle dure bataille je dois livrer pour vous, pour ceux deLaodicée, et pour tant d'autres qui ne m'ont jamais vu de leurs yeux;	1 I want you to know, then, what a struggle I am having on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea,and on behalf of so many others who have never seen me face to face.
2 afin que leurs cœurs en soient stimulés et qu'étroitement rapprochés dans l'amour ils parviennentau plein épanouissement de l'intelligence qui leur fera pénétrer le mystère de Dieu,	2 It is all to bind them together in love and to encourage their resolution until they are rich in the assuranceof their complete understanding and have knowledge of the mystery of God
3 dans lequel se trouvent, cachés, tous les trésors de la sagesse et de connaissance!	3 in which al the jewels of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
4 Je dis cela pour que nul ne vous abuse par des discours spécieux.	4 I say this to make sure that no one deceives you with specious arguments.
5 Sans doute, je suis absent de corps; mais en esprit je suis parmi vous, heureux de voir le bel ordrequi règne chez vous et la solidité de votre foi au Christ.	5 I may be absent in body, but in spirit I am there among you, delighted to find how wel -ordered you areand to see how firm your faith in Christ is.
6 Le christ tel que vous l'avez reçu, Jésus le Seigneur, c'est en lui qu'il vous faut marcher,	6 So then, as you received Jesus as Lord and Christ, now live your lives in him,
7 Prenez garde qu'il ne se trouve quelqu'un pour vous réduite en esclavage par le vain leurre de la"philosophie', selon un tradition toute humaine, selon les éléments du monde, et non selon le Christ.	7 be rooted in him and built up on him, held firm by the faith you have been taught, and overflowing withthanksgiving.
	8 Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a 'philosophy' of the kind that human beingshand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ.
9 Car en lui habite corporellement toute la Plénitude de la Divinité,	9 In him, in bodily form, lives divinity in al its ful ness,
10 et vous vous trouvez en lui associés à sa plénitude, lui qui est la Tête de toute Principauté et detoute Puissance.	10 and in him you too find your own fulfilment, in the one who is the head of every sovereignty and rulingforce.
11 C'est en lui que vous avez été circoncis d'un circoncision qui n'est pas de main d'homme, parl'entier dépouillement de votre corps charnel; telle est la circoncision du Christ:	11 In him you have been circumcised, with a circumcision performed, not by human hand, but by thecomplete stripping of your natural self. This is circumcision according to Christ.
12 ensevelis avec lui lors du baptême, vous en êtes aussi ressuscités avec lui, parce que vous avezcru en la force de Dieu qui l'a ressuscité des morts.	12 You have been buried with him by your baptism; by which, too, you have been raised up with himthrough your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead.
13 Vous qui étiez morts du fait de vos fautes et de votre chair incirconcise, Il vous a fait revivreavec lui! Il nous a pardonné toutes nos fautes!	13 You were dead, because you were sinners and uncircumcised in body: he has brought you to life withhim, he has forgiven us every one of our sins.
14 Il a effacé, au détriment des ordonnances légales, la cédule de notre dette, qui nous étaitcontraire; il l'a supprimée en la clouant à la croix.	14 He has wiped out the record of our debt to the Law, which stood against us; he has destroyed it bynailing it to the cross;
15 Il a dépouillé les Principautés et les Puissances et les a données en spectacle à la face du monde,en les traînant dans son cortège triomphal.	15 and he has stripped the sovereignties and the ruling forces, and paraded them in public, behind him inhis triumphal procession.
16 Dès lors, que nul ne s'avise de vous critiquer sur des questions de nourriture et de boisson, ouen matière de fêtes annuelles, de nouvelles lunes ou de sabbats.	16 Then never let anyone criticise you for what you eat or drink, or about observance of annual festivals,New Moons or Sabbaths.
17 Tout cela n'est que l'ombre des choses à venir, mais la réalité, c'est le corps du Christ.	17 These are only a shadow of what was coming: the reality is the body of Christ.
18 Que personne n'aille vous en frustrer, en se complaisant dans d'humbles pratiques, dans un cultedes anges: celui-là donne toute son attention aux choses qu'il a vues, bouffi qu'il est d'un vain orgueil par sapensée charnelle,	18 Do not be cheated of your prize by anyone who chooses to grovel to angels and worship them, pinningevery hope on visions received, vainly puffed up by a human way of thinking;
19 et il ne s'attache pas à la Tête dont le Corps tout entier reçoit nourriture et cohésion, par lesjointures et ligaments, pour réaliser sa croissance en Dieu.	19 such a person has no connection to the Head, by which the whole body, given al that it needs andheld together by its joints and sinews, grows with the growth given by God.
20 Du moment que vous êtes morts avec le Christ aux éléments du monde, pourquoi vous plier àdes ordonnances comme si vous viviez encore dans ce monde?	20 If you have really died with Christ to the principles of this world, why do you stil let rules dictate to you,as though you were still living in the world?
21 "Ne prends pas, ne goûte pas, ne touche pas",	21 -'Do not pick up this, do not eat that, do not touch the other,'
22 tout cela pour des choses vouées à périr par leur usage même! Voilà bien les prescriptions etdoctrines des hommes!	22 and al about things which perish even while they are being used -- according to merely humancommandments and doctrines!
23 Ces sortes de règles peuvent faire figure de sagesse par leur affectation de religiosité etd'humilité qui ne ménage pas le corps; en fait elles n'ont aucune valeur pour l'insolence de la chair.	23 In these rules you can indeed find what seems to be good sense -- the cultivation of the wil , and ahumility which takes no account of the body; but in fact they have no value against self-indulgence.
