Épître aux Philippiens 4

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ainsi donc, mes frères bien-aimés et tant désirés, ma joie et ma couronne, tenez bon de la sorte,dans le Seigneur, mes bien-aimés.	1 So then, my brothers and dear friends whom I miss so much, my joy and my crown, hold firm in theLord, dear friends.
2 J'exhorte Evodie comme j'exhorte Syntyche à vivre en bonne intelligence dans le Seigneur.	2 I urge Euodia, and I urge Syntyche to come to agreement with each other in the Lord;
3 Et toi de ton côté, Syzyge, vrai "compagnon", je te demande de leur venir en aide: car ellesm'ont assisté dans la lutte pour l'Evangile, en même temps que Clément et mes autres collaborateurs, dont lesnoms sont écrits au livre de vie.	3 and I ask you, Syzygus, real y to be a 'partner' and help them. These women have struggled hard for thegospel with me, along with Clement and al my other fel ow-workers, whose names are written in the book of life.
4 Réjouissez-vous sans cesse dans le Seigneur, je le dis encore, réjouissez-vous.	4 Always be joyful, then, in the Lord; I repeat, be joyful.
5 Que votre modération soit connue de tous les hommes. Le Seigneur est proche.	5 Let your good sense be obvious to everybody. The Lord is near.
6 N'entretenez aucun souci; mais en tout besoin recourez à l'oraison et à la prière, pénétréesd'action de grâces, pour présenter vos requêtes à Dieu.	6 Never worry about anything; but tel God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shotthrough with gratitude,
7 Alors la paix de Dieu, qui surpasse toute intelligence, prendra sous sa garde vos coeurs et vospensées, dans le Christ Jésus.	7 and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding wil guard your hearts and your thoughts inChrist Jesus.
8 Enfin, frères, tout ce qu'il y a de vrai, de noble, de juste, de pur, d'aimable, d'honorable, tout cequ'il peut y avoir de bon dans la vertu et la louange humaines, voilà ce qui doit vous préoccuper.	8 Finally, brothers, let your minds be fil ed with everything that is true, everything that is honourable,everything that is upright and pure, everything that we love and admire -- with whatever is good andpraiseworthy.
9 Ce que vous avez appris, reçu, entendu de moi et constaté en moi, voilà ce que vous devezpratiquer. Alors le Dieu de la paix sera avec vous.	9 Keep doing everything you learnt from me and were told by me and have heard or seen me doing. Thenthe God of peace will be with you.
10 J'ai eu grande joie dans le Seigneur à voir enfin refleurir votre intérêt pour moi; il était bientoujours vivant, mais vous ne trouviez pas d'occasion.	10 As for me, I am full of joy in the Lord, now that at last your consideration for me has blossomed again;though I recognise that you really did have consideration before, but had no opportunity to show it.
11 Ce n'est pas mon dénuement qui m'inspire ces paroles; j'ai appris en effet à me suffire en touteoccasion.	11 I do not say this because I have lacked anything; I have learnt to manage with whatever I have.
12 Je sais me priver comme je sais être à l'aise. En tout temps et de toutes manières, je me suisinitié à la satiété comme à la faim, à l'abondance comme au dénuement.	12 I know how to live modestly, and I know how to live luxuriously too: in every way now I have masteredthe secret of al conditions: ful stomach and empty stomach, plenty and poverty.
13 Je puis tout en Celui qui me rend fort.	13 There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me.
14 Cependant vous avez bien fait de prendre part à mon épreuve.	14 Al the same, it was good of you to share with me in my hardships.
15 Vous le savez vous-mêmes, Philippiens: dans les débuts de l'Evangile, quand je quittai laMacédoine, aucune Eglise ne m'assista par mode de contributions pécuniaires; vous fûtes les seuls,	15 In the early days of the gospel, as you of Philippi wel know, when I left Macedonia, no church otherthan yourselves made common account with me in the matter of expenditure and receipts. You were the onlyones;
16 vous qui, dès mon séjour à Thessalonique, m'avez envoyé, et par deux fois, ce dont j'avaisbesoin.	16 and what is more, you have twice sent me what I needed in Thessalonica.
17 Ce n'est pas que je recherche les dons; ce que je recherche, c'est le bénéfice qui s'augmente àvotre actif.	17 It is not the gift that I value most; what I value is the interest that is mounting up in your account.
18 Pour le moment j'ai tout ce qu'il faut, et même plus qu'il ne faut; je suis comblé, depuisqu'Epaphrodite m'a remis votre offrande, parfum de bonne odeur, sacrifice que Dieu reçoit et trouve agréable.	18 I have al that I need and more: I am ful y provided, now that I have received from Epaphroditus theoffering that you sent, a pleasing smel , the sacrifice which is acceptable and pleasing to God.
19 En retour mon Dieu comblera tous vos besoins, selon sa richesse, avec magnificence, dans leChrist Jésus.	19 And my God will fulfil al your needs out of the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
20 Gloire à ce Dieu, notre Père, dans les siècles des siècles! Amen.	20 And so glory be to God our Father, for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Saluez chacun des saints dans le Christ Jésus. Les frères qui sont avec moi vous saluent.	21 My greetings to every one of God's holy people in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me sendyou their greetings.
22 Tous les saints vous saluent, surtout ceux de la Maison de César.	22 Al God's holy people send you their greetings, especially those of Caesar's household.
23 La grâce du Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec votre esprit!	23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
