Deuxième épître aux Corinthiens 1

1 Paul, apôtre du Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, et Timothée, le frère, à l'Eglise de Dieu établie àCorinthe, ainsi qu'à tous les saints qui sont dans l'Achaïe entière;	1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy, a brother, to the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all of Achaia:
2 à vous grâce et paix de par Dieu, notre Père, et le Seigneur Jésus Christ!	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Béni soit le Dieu et Père de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, le Père des miséricordes et le Dieu detoute consolation,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation.
4 qui nous console dans toute notre tribulation, afin que, par la consolation que nous-mêmesrecevons de Dieu, nous puissions consoler les autres en quelque tribulation que ce soit.	4 He consoles us in all our tribulation, so that we too may be able to console those who are in any kind of distress, through the exhortation by which we also are being exhorted by God.
5 De même en effet que les souffrances du Christ abondent pour nous, ainsi, par le Christ,abonde aussi notre consolation.	5 For just as the Passion of Christ abounds in us, so also, through Christ, does our consolation abound.
6 Sommes-nous dans la tribulation? C'est pour votre consolation et salut. Sommes-nousconsolés? C'est pour votre consolation, qui vous donne de supporter avec constance les mêmes souffrances quenous endurons, nous aussi.	6 So, if we are in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation, or if we are in consolation, it is for your consolation, or if we are exhorted, it is for your exhortation and salvation, which results in the patience endurance of the same passion which we also endure.
7 Et notre espoir à votre égard est ferme: nous savons que, partageant nos souffrances, vouspartagerez aussi notre consolation.	7 So may our hope for you be made firm, knowing that, just as you are participants in the suffering, so also shall you be participants in the consolation.
8 Car nous ne voulons pas que vous l'ignoriez, frères: la tribulation qui nous est survenue enAsie nous a accablés à l'excès, au-delà de nos forces, à tel point que nous désespérions même de conserver la vie.	8 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about our tribulation, which happened to us in Asia. For we were weighed down beyond measure, beyond our strength, so that we became weary, even of life itself.
9 Vraiment, nous avons porté en nous-mêmes notre arrêt de mort, afin d'apprendre à ne pasmettre notre confiance en nous-mêmes mais en Dieu, qui ressuscite les morts.	9 But we had within ourselves the response to death, so that we would not have faith in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead.
10 C'est lui qui nous a délivrés d'une telle mort et nous en délivrera; en lui nous avons cetteespérance qu'il nous en délivrera encore.	10 He has rescued us, and he is rescuing us, from great peril. In him, we hope that he will continue to rescue us.
11 Vous-mêmes nous aiderez par la prière, afin que ce bienfait, qu'un grand nombre depersonnes nous auront obtenu, soit pour un grand nombre un motif d'action de grâces à notre sujet.	11 And you are assisting, with your prayers for us, so that from many persons, by that which is a gift in us, thanks may be given through many persons, because of us.
12 Ce qui fait notre fierté, c'est ce témoignage de notre conscience que nous nous sommescomportés dans le monde, et plus particulièrement à votre égard, avec la sainteté et la pureté qui viennent deDieu, non pas avec une sagesse charnelle, mais bien avec la grâce de Dieu.	12 For our glory is this: the testimony of our conscience, which is found in simplicity of heart and in sincerity toward God. And it is not with worldly wisdom, but in the grace of God, that we have conversed with this world, and more abundantly toward you.
13 En effet, il n'y a rien dans nos lettres que ce que vous y lisez et comprenez. Et j'espère quevous comprendrez pleinement --	13 For we write nothing else to you other than what you have read and understood. And I hope that you will continue to understand, even unto the end.
14 ainsi que vous nous avez compris en partie - que nous sommes pour vous un titre de gloire,comme vous le serez pour nous, au Jour de notre Seigneur Jésus.	14 And just as you have acknowledged us in our role, that we are your glory, so also you are ours, unto the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 C'est dans cette assurance que je voulais venir chez vous tout d'abord pour vous procurer uneseconde grâce;	15 And with this confidence, I wanted to come to you sooner, so that you might have a second grace,
16 puis de chez vous passer en Macédoine et de Macédoine revenir chez vous; et vous m'auriezacheminé vers la Judée.	16 and through you to pass into Macedonia, and to return to you again from Macedonia, and so be led by you on my way to Judea.
17 En formant ce projet, aurais-je donc fait preuve de légèreté? Ou bien mes projets s'inspirent-ils de la chair, en sorte qu'il y ait en moi le oui, oui, et le non, non?	17 Then, although I had intended this, did I act lightly? Or in the things that I consider, do I consider according to the flesh, so that there would be, with me, both Yes and No?
18 Aussi vrai que Dieu est fidèle, notre langage avec vous n'est pas oui et non.	18 But God is faithful, so our word, which was set before you, was not, in him, both Yes and No.
19 Car le Fils de Dieu, le Christ Jésus, que nous avons prêché parmi vous, Silvain, Timothée etmoi, n'a pas été oui et non; il n'y a eu que oui en lui.	19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you through us, through myself and Sylvanus and Timothy, was not Yes, and No; but was simply Yes in him.
20 Toutes les promesses de Dieu ont en effet leur oui en lui; aussi bien est-ce par lui que nousdisons l'"Amen" à Dieu pour sa gloire.	20 For whatever promises are of God are, in him, Yes. For this reason, too, through him: Amen to God for our glory.
21 Et Celui qui nous affermit avec vous dans le Christ et qui nous a donné l'onction, c'est Dieu,	21 Now the One who confirms us with you in Christ, and who has anointed us, is God.
22 Lui qui nous a aussi marqués d'un sceau et a mis dans nos coeurs les arrhes de l'Esprit.	22 And he has sealed us, and he has placed the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.
23 Pour moi, j'en prends Dieu à témoin sur mon âme, c'est par ménagement pour vous que je nesuis plus venu à Corinthe.	23 But I call God as a witness to my soul, that I was lenient with you, in that I did not return to Corinth:
24 Ce n'est pas que nous entendions régenter votre foi. Non, nous contribuons à votre joie; car,pour la foi, vous tenez bon.	24 not because we have dominion over your faith, but because we are assistants of your joy. For by faith you stand.
