JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Et il leur disait: "En vérité je vous le dis, il en est d'ici présents qui ne goûteront pas la mort avantd'avoir vu le Royaume de Dieu venu avec puissance."	1 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves, and was transfigured before them.
2 Six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean et les emmène seuls, à l'écart, sur unehaute montagne. Et il fut transfiguré devant eux	2 And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white.
3 et ses vêtements devinrent resplendissants, d'une telle blancheur qu'aucun foulon sur terre ne peutblanchir de la sorte.	3 And there appeared to them Elias with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
4 Elie leur apparut avec Moïse et ils s'entretenaient avec Jésus.	4 And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: "Rabbi, il est heureux que nous soyons ici; faisons donctrois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse et une pour Elie."	5 For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.
6 C'est qu'il ne savait que répondre, car ils étaient saisis de frayeur.	6 And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved son; hear ye him.
7 Et une nuée survint qui les prit sous son ombre, et une voix partit de la nuée: "Celui-ci est mon Filsbien-aimé; écoutez-le."	7 And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.
8 Soudain, regardant autour d'eux, ils ne virent plus personne, que Jésus seul avec eux.	8 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.
9 Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur ordonna de ne raconter à personne ce qu'ils avaient vu,si ce n'est quand le Fils de l'homme serait ressuscité d'entre les morts.	9 And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.
10 Ils gardèrent la recommandation, tout en se demandant entre eux ce que signifiait "ressusciter d'entreles morts."	10 And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first?
11 Et ils lui posaient cette question: "Pourquoi les scribes disent-ils qu'Elie doit venir d'abord?"	11 Who answering, said to them: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be despised.
12 Il leur dit: "Oui, Elie doit venir d'abord et tout remettre en ordre. Et comment est-il écrit du Fils del'homme qu'il doit beaucoup souffrir et être méprisé?	12 But I say to you, that Elias also is come, (and they have done to him whatsoever they would,) as it is written of him.
13 Mais je vous le dis: Elie est bien déjà venu et ils l'ont traité à leur guise, comme il est écrit de lui."	13 And coming to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.
14 En rejoignant les disciples, ils virent une foule nombreuse qui les entourait et des scribes quidiscutaient avec eux.	14 And presently all the people seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear; and running to him, they saluted him.
15 Et aussitôt qu'elle l'aperçut, toute la foule fut très surprise et ils accoururent pour le saluer.	15 And he asked them: What do you question about among you?
16 Et il leur demanda: "De quoi disputez-vous avec eux?"	16 And one of the multitude, answering, said: Master, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.
17 Quelqu'un de la foule lui dit: "Maître, je t'ai apporté mon fils qui a un esprit muet.	17 Who, wheresoever he taketh him, dasheth him, and he foameth, and gnasheth with the teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
18 Quand il le saisit, il le jette à terre, et il écume, grince des dents et devient raide. Et j'ai dit à tesdisciples de l'expulser et ils n'en ont pas été capables" --	18 Who answering them, said: O incredulous generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
19 "Engeance incrédule, leur répond-il, jusques à quand serai-je auprès de vous? Jusques à quand voussupporterai-je? Apportez-le-moi."	19 And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming.
20 Et ils le lui apportèrent. Sitôt qu'il vit Jésus, l'esprit secoua violemment l'enfant qui tomba à terre et ils'y roulait en écumant.	20 And he asked his father: How long time is it since this hath happened unto him? But he said: From his infancy:
21 Et Jésus demanda au père: "Combien de temps y a-t-il que cela lui arrive" - "Depuis son enfance, dit-il;	21 And oftentimes hath he cast him into the fire and into waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, help us, having compassion on us.
22 et souvent il l'a jeté soit dans le feu soit dans l'eau pour le faire périr. Mais si tu peux quelque chose,viens à notre aide, par pitié pour nous" --	22 And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
23 "Si tu peux!... reprit Jésus; tout est possible à celui qui croit."	23 And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.
24 Aussitôt le père de l'enfant de s'écrier: "Je crois! Viens en aide à mon peu de foi!"	24 And when Jesus saw the multitude running together, he threatened the unclean spirit, saying to him: Deaf and dumb spirit, I command thee, go out of him; and enter not any more into him.
25 Jésus, voyant qu'une foule affluait, menaça l'esprit impur en lui disant: "Esprit muet et sourd, je tel'ordonne, sors de lui et n'y rentre plus."	25 And crying out, and greatly tearing him, he went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead.
26 Après avoir crié et l'avoir violemment secoué, il sortit, et l'enfant devint comme mort, si bien que laplupart disaient: "Il a trépassé!"	26 But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.
27 Mais Jésus, le prenant par la main, le releva et il se tint debout.	27 And when he was come into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why could not we cast him out?
28 Quand il fut rentré à la maison, ses disciples lui demandaient dans le privé: "Pourquoi nous autres,n'avons-nous pu l'expulser?"	28 And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
29 Il leur dit: "Cette espèce-là ne peut sortir que par la prière."	29 And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.
30 Etant partis de là, ils faisaient route à travers la Galilée et il ne voulait pas qu'on le sût.	30 And he taught his disciple, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.
31 Car il instruisait ses disciples et il leur disait: "Le Fils de l'homme est livré aux mains des hommes etils le tueront, et quand il aura été tué, après trois jours il ressuscitera."	31 But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.
32 Mais ils ne comprenaient pas cette parole et ils craignaient de l'interroger.	32 And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?
33 Ils vinrent à Capharnaüm; et, une fois à la maison, il leur demandait: "De quoi discutiez-vous enchemin?"	33 But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest.
34 Eux se taisaient, car en chemin ils avaient discuté entre eux qui était le plus grand.	34 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.
35 Alors, s'étant assis, il appela les Douze et leur dit: "Si quelqu'un veut être le premier, il sera le dernierde tous et le serviteur de tous."	35 And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:
36 Puis, prenant un petit enfant, il le plaça au milieu d'eux et, l'ayant embrassé, il leur dit:	36 Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
37 "Quiconque accueille un des petits enfants tels que lui à cause de mon nom, c'est moi qu'il accueille;et quiconque m'accueille, ce n'est pas moi qu'il accueille, mais Celui qui m'a envoyé."	37 John answered him, saying: Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, who followeth not us, and we forbade him.
38 Jean lui dit: "Maître, nous avons vu quelqu'un expulser des démons en ton nom, quelqu'un qui nenous suit pas, et nous voulions l'empêcher, parce qu'il ne nous suivait pas."	38 But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.
39 Mais Jésus dit: "Ne l'en empêchez pas, car il n'est personne qui puisse faire un miracle en invoquantmon nom et sitôt après parler mal de moi.	39 For he that is not against you, is for you.
40 Qui n'est pas contre nous est pour nous.	40 For whosoever shall give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because you belong to Christ: amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
41 "Quiconque vous donnera à boire un verre d'eau pour ce motif que vous êtes au Christ, en vérité, jevous le dis, il ne perdra pas sa récompense.	41 And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
42 "Mais si quelqu'un doit scandaliser l'un de ces petits qui croient, il serait mieux pour lui de se voirpasser autour du cou une de ces meules que tournent les ânes et d'être jeté à la mer.	42 And if thy hand scandalize thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into unquenchable fire:
43 Et si ta main est pour toi une occasion de péché, coupe-la: mieux vaut pour toi entrer manchot dans laVie que de t'en aller avec tes deux mains dans la géhenne, dans le feu qui ne s'éteint pas.	43 Where there worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
	44 And if thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter lame into life everlasting, than having two feet, to be cast into the hell of unquenchable fire:
45 Et si ton pied est pour toi une occasion de péché, coupe-le: mieux vaut pour toi entrer estropié dans laVie que d'être jeté avec tes deux pieds dans la géhenne.	45 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
	46 And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire:
47 Et si ton oeil est pour toi une occasion de péché, arrache-le: mieux vaut pour toi entrer borgne dans leRoyaume de Dieu que d'être jeté avec tes deux yeux dans la géhenne	47 Where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
48 où leur ver ne meurt point et où le feu ne s'éteint point.	48 For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.
49 Car tous seront salés par le feu.	49 Salt is good. But if the salt became unsavory; wherewith will you season it? Have salt in you, and have peace among you.
