JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de Yahvé, au temps de Joiaqim, fils de Josias, roi deJuda:	1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying:
2 "Va trouver le groupe des Rékabites, parle avec eux et amène-les au Temple de Yahvé, dans l'unedes salles, pour leur offrir du vin à boire."	2 “Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and lead them into the house of the Lord, into one of the halls of the treasuries. And you shall give them wine to drink.”
3 Je pris donc Yaazanya, fils de Yirmeyahu, fils de Habaççinya, ainsi que ses frères et tous ses fils,tout le groupe des Rékabites;	3 And so I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers, and all his sons, and the entire house of the Rechabites,
4 je les amenai au Temple de Yahvé, dans la salle de Ben-Yohanân, fils de Yigdalyahu, homme deDieu, celle qui est contiguë à la salle des princes, au-dessus de celle de Maaséya, fils de Shallum, gardien duseuil;	4 and I led them into the house of the Lord, to the treasury of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was near the treasury of the princes, above the storehouse of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, who was the guardian of the entrance.
5 devant les membres du groupe rékabite, je mis des amphores pleines de vin ainsi que des coupes etje leur dis: "Buvez du vin!"	5 And I placed before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls filled with wine, and chalices. And I said to them, “Drink wine.”
6 Mais ils répondirent: "Nous ne buvons pas de vin, car notre ancêtre Yonadab, fils de Rékab, nous adonné cet ordre: Vous ne boirez jamais de vin, ni vous, ni vos fils;	6 And they responded: “We will not drink wine. For Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, instructed us, saying: ‘You shall not drink wine, you and your sons, in perpetuity.
7 de même vous ne devez pas bâtir de maison, ni faire de semailles, ni planter de vigne, ni posséderrien de tout cela; mais c'est sous des tentes que vous habiterez toute votre vie, afin de vivre de longs jours sur lesol où vous séjournez.	7 And you shall not build houses, and you shall not sow any seeds, and you shall not plant or have vineyards. Instead, you shall live in tents all your days, so that you may live many days upon the face of the earth, in which you are sojourners.’
8 Nous avons obéi à tout ce que nous a ordonné notre ancêtre Yonadab, fils de Rékab, ne buvantjamais de vin, nous, nos femmes, nos fils et nos filles,	8 Therefore, we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he has commanded us, so that we do not drink wine all our days, we and our wives, our sons and daughters.
9 ne bâtissant pas de maisons d'habitation, ne possédant ni vigne, ni champ, ni semailles,	9 And we do not build houses in which to live. And we do not have vineyard, or field, or seed to sow.
10 habitant sous la tente. Nous avons obéi et fait tout ce que nous a ordonné notre ancêtre Yonadab.	10 Instead, we live in tents, and we have been obedient in accord with all that Jonadab, our father, has instructed us.
11 Mais quand Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, est monté contre ce pays, nous nous sommes dit:Venez! Entrons à Jérusalem pour échapper à l'armée des Chaldéens et à celle d'Aram! Et nous avons demeurédans Jérusalem."	11 But when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had ascended to our land, we said: ‘Come and let us enter into Jerusalem, before the face of the army of the Chaldeans, and before the face of the army of Syria.’ And we have remained in Jerusalem.”
12 Alors la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:	12 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
13 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Va dire aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants deJérusalem: Ne saisirez-vous pas la leçon, qui est d'obéir à mes paroles? -- oracle de Yahvé.	13 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will you not accept discipline, so that you obey my words, says the Lord?
14 On a observé les paroles de Yonadab, fils de Rékab; il a défendu à ses fils de boire du vin etjusqu'aujourd'hui ils n'en ont pas bu, obéissant à l'ordre de leur ancêtre. Et moi qui vous ai parlé sans me lasser etavec insistance, vous ne m'avez pas écouté.	14 The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, in which he instructed his sons, so that they would not drink wine, have prevailed. And they have not drunk wine, even to this day. For they have obeyed the instruction of their father. But I have spoken to you, rising and speaking from early morning, and you did not obey me.
15 Je vous ai envoyé sans me lasser et à bien des reprises tous mes serviteurs les prophètes pourvous dire: Revenez chacun de votre voie mauvaise, améliorez vos actions, ne suivez pas d'autres dieux pour lesservir, et vous demeurerez sur le sol que j'ai donné à vous et à vos pères. Mais vous n'avez pas prêté l'oreille,vous ne m'avez pas écouté.	15 And I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, rising at first light, and sending, and saying: ‘Convert, each one from his wicked way, and make your intentions good. And do not choose to follow strange gods, nor shall you worship them. And then you shall live in the land which I gave to you and to your fathers.’ And yet you have not inclined your ear, and you have not heeded me.
16 Ainsi les descendants de Yonadab, fils de Rékab, ont observé l'ordre donné par leur ancêtre,tandis que ce peuple ne m'a pas écouté!	16 So the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have remained firm in the commandment of their father, which he instructed to them, while this people has not been obedient to me.
17 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Voici, je vais amener sur Judaet sur tous les habitants de Jérusalem tout le malheur dont je les ai menacés: c'est que je leur ai parlé sans qu'ilsm'écoutent et les ai appelés sans qu'ils répondent.	17 For this reason, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over Judah and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every evil that I have declared against them. For I have spoken to them, and they have not listened. I have called to them, and they have not responded to me.”
18 Alors Jérémie dit au groupe rékabite: "Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Puisque vousavez obéi à l'ordre de votre ancêtre Yonadab, que vous avez observé tous ses ordres et pratiqué tout ce qu'il vousa ordonné,	18 Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab, your father, and have kept all his precepts, and have done all that he has instructed you,
19 eh bien! ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël: Yonadab, fils de Rékab, ne manquera jamaisde quelqu'un qui se tienne en ma présence, pour toujours."	19 because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: There will not be a man lacking from the stock of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, standing in my sight, for all days.”
