JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Voilà que Yahvé me fit voir deux corbeilles de figues disposées devant le sanctuaire de Yahvé.C'était après que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, eut emmené captifs, loin de Jérusalem, Jékonias, fils deJoiaqim, roi de Juda, ainsi que les princes de Juda, les forgerons et les serruriers, et qu'il les eut amenés àBabylone.	1 The LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed before the temple of the LORD.--This was after Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had exiled from Jerusalem Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, the artisans and the skilled workers, and brought them to Babylon.--
2 Une corbeille contenait d'excellentes figues, comme sont les figues précoces; l'autre contenait desfigues gâtées, si gâtées qu'elles en étaient immangeables.	2 One basket contained excellent figs, the early-ripening kind. But the other basket contained very bad figs, so bad they could not be eaten.
3 Et Yahvé me dit: "Que vois-tu, Jérémie?" Et je répondis: "Des figues. Les bonnes sont excellentes.Les mauvaises sont gâtées, si gâtées qu'on ne peut les manger."	3 Then the LORD said to me: What do you see, Jeremiah? "Figs," I replied; "the good ones are very good, but the bad ones very bad, so bad they cannot be eaten."
4 Alors la parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:	4 Thereupon this word of the LORD came to me:
5 Ainsi parle Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël. Comme à ces bonnes figues, ainsi je veux m'intéresser pour leurbien aux exilés de Juda, que j'ai envoyés de ce lieu au pays des Chaldéens.	5 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, even so will I regard with favor Judah's exiles whom I sent away from this place into the land of the Chaldeans.
6 Je veux fixer les yeux sur eux pour leur bien, les faire revenir en ce pays, les reconstruire au lieude les démolir, les planter au lieu de les arracher.	6 I will look after them for their good, and bring them back to this land, to build them up, not to tear them down; to plant them, not to pluck them out.
7 Je leur donnerai un coeur pour connaître que je suis Yahvé. Ils seront mon peuple et moi je seraileur Dieu, car ils reviendront à moi de tout leur coeur.	7 I will give them a heart with which to understand that I am the LORD. They shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
8 Mais comme on traite les mauvaises figues, si gâtées qu'elles en sont immangeables - oui, ainsiparle Yahvé - ainsi traiterai-je Sédécias, roi de Juda, ses princes et le reste de Jérusalem: ceux qui sont restésdans ce pays comme ceux qui habitent au pays d'Egypte.	8 And like the figs that are bad, so bad they cannot be eaten--yes, thus says the LORD--even so will I treat Zedekiah, king of Judah, and his princes, the remnant of Jerusalem remaining in this land and those who have settled in the land of Egypt.
9 J'en ferai un objet d'horreur, une calamité pour tous les royaumes de la terre; un opprobre, unefable, une risée, une malédiction en tous lieux où je les chasserai.	9 I will make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all the places to which I will drive them.
10 Et j'enverrai contre eux l'épée, la famine et la peste jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient disparu du sol quej'avais donné à eux et à leurs pères.	10 I will send upon them the sword, famine, and pestilence, until they have disappeared from the land which I gave them and their fathers.
