1 Malheur à l'orgueilleuse couronne des ivrognes d'Ephraïm, à la fleur fanée de sa superbe splendeursise au sommet de la grasse vallée, à ceux que terrasse le vin.	1 Woe to the crown of arrogance, to the inebriated of Ephraim, and to the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, to those who were at the top of the very fat valley, staggering from wine.
2 Voici un homme fort et puissant au service du Seigneur, comme une tornade de grêle, une tempêtedévastatrice, comme d'énormes trombes d'eau qui se déversent, de sa main il les jette à terre.	2 Behold, the Lord is powerful and steadfast, like a storm of hail, like a crushing whirlwind, like the force of many waters, inundating, sent forth over a spacious land.
3 Elles seront foulées aux pieds, l'orgueilleuse couronne des ivrognes d'Ephraïm	3 The arrogant crown of the inebriated of Ephraim will be trampled under foot.
4 et la fleur fanée de sa superbe splendeur sise au sommet de la grasse vallée. C'est comme une figuemûre avant l'été: qui l'aperçoit aussitôt la saisit et l'avale.	4 And the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, who is at the summit of the fat valley, will be like a premature fruit before the ripeness of autumn, which, when the onlooker beholds it, as soon he takes it in his hand, he will devour it.
5 Ce jour-là, c'est Yahvé Sabaot qui deviendra une couronne de splendeur et un superbe diadème pourle reste de son peuple,	5 In that day, the Lord of hosts will be the crown of glory and the wreath of exultation for the remnant of his people.
6 un esprit de justice pour qui doit rendre la justice, et la force de ceux qui repoussent l'assaut auxportes.	6 And he will be the spirit of judgment for those who sit in judgment, and the strength of those who return from war to the gates.
7 Eux aussi, ils ont été troublés par le vin, ils ont divagué sous l'effet de la boisson. Prêtre et prophète,ils ont été troublés par la boisson, ils ont été pris de vin, ils ont divagué sous l'effet de la boisson, ils ont ététroublés dans leurs visions, ils ont divagué dans leurs sentences.	7 Yet truly, these also have been ignorant due to wine, and they have gone astray due to inebriation. The priest and the prophet have been ignorant because of inebriation. They have been absorbed by wine. They have staggered in drunkenness. They have not known the One who sees. They have been ignorant of judgment.
8 Oui, toutes les tables sont couvertes de vomissements abjects, pas une place nette!	8 For all the tables have been filled with vomit and filth, so much so that there was no place left.
9 A qui enseigne-t-il la leçon? A qui explique-t-il la doctrine? A des enfants à peine sevrés, à peineéloignés de la mamelle,	9 To whom will he teach knowledge? And to whom will he grant an understanding of what is heard? To those who have been weaned from the milk, who have been pulled away from the breasts.
10 quand il dit: çav laçav, çav laçav; qav laqav, qav laqav ze'êr sham, ze'êr sham.	10 So then: command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there.
11 Oui, c'est par des lèvres bégayantes et dans une langue étrangère qu'il parlera à ce peuple.	11 For with the speech of lips and with a different language, he will speak to this people.
12 Il leur avait dit: "Voici le repos! Donnez le repos à l'accablé: ceci est un endroit tranquille." Mais ilsn'ont pas voulu écouter.	12 He said to them: “This is my rest. Refresh the weary,” and, “This is my refreshment.” And yet they were unwilling to listen.
13 Aussi Yahvé va leur parler ainsi: çav laçav, çav laçav; qav laqav, qav laqav; ze'êr sham, ze'êr shamafin qu'en marchant ils tombent à la renverse, qu'ils soient brisés, pris au piège, emprisonnés.	13 And so, the word of the Lord to them will be: “Command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there,” so that they may go forward and fall backward, and so that they may be broken and ensnared and captured.
14 C'est pourquoi, écoutez la parole de Yahvé, hommes insolents, gouverneurs de ce peuple qui est àJérusalem.	14 Because of this, listen to the word of the Lord, you mocking men, who lord it over my people who are at Jerusalem.
15 Vous avez dit: "Nous avons conclu une alliance avec la mort, avec le shéol nous avons fait un pacte.Quant au fléau menaçant, il passera sans nous atteindre, car nous avons fait du mensonge notre refuge, et dans lafausseté nous nous sommes cachés."	15 For you have said: “We struck a deal with death, and we formed a pact with Hell. When the inundating scourge passes through, it will not overwhelm us. For we have placed our hope in lies, and we are protected by what is false.”
16 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: Voici que je vais poser en Sion une pierre, une pierrede granit, pierre angulaire, précieuse, pierre de fondation bien assise: celui qui s'y fie ne sera pas ébranlé.	16 For this reason, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will set a stone within the foundations of Zion, a tested stone, a cornerstone, a precious stone, which has been established in the foundation: whoever trusts in him need not hurry.
17 Et je prendrai le droit comme mesure et la justice comme niveau. Mais la grêle balaiera le refuge demensonge et les eaux inonderont la cachette;	17 And I will establish judgment in weights, and justice in measures. And a hailstorm will overturn hope in what is false; and waters will inundate its protection.
18 votre alliance avec la mort sera rompue, votre pacte avec le shéol ne tiendra pas. Quant au fléaudestructeur, lorsqu'il passera, vous serez piétinés par lui.	18 And your deal with death will be abolished, and your pact with Hell will not stand. When the inundating scourge passes through, you will be trampled down by it.
19 Chaque fois qu'il passera, il vous saisira, car chaque matin il passera, et le jour et la nuit, et seule laterreur fera comprendre la révélation.	19 Whenever it passes through, it will take you away. For, at first light of morning, it will pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone will make you understand what you hear.
20 Car la couche sera trop courte pour s'y étendre, et la couverture trop étroite pour s'en envelopper.	20 For the bed has been narrowed, so much so that one alone would fall out, and the short blanket is not able to cover two.
21 Oui, comme au mont de Peraçim, Yahvé se lèvera, comme au val de Gabaôn, il frémira, pour opérerson oeuvre, son oeuvre étrange, pour accomplir sa tâche, sa tâche mystérieuse.	21 For the Lord will stand, just as at the mountain of divisions. He will be angry, just as in the valley which is in Gibeon, so that he may accomplish his work, his strange work, so that he may complete his work, his work which is foreign even to him.
22 Et maintenant, cessez de vous moquer, de peur que ne se resserrent vos liens, car je l'ai entendu:c'est irrévocablement décidé par le Seigneur Yahvé Sabaot, contre tout le pays.	22 And now, do not be willing to mock, lest your chains be tightened. For I have heard, from the Lord, the God of hosts, about the consummation and the abridgement concerning the entire earth.
23 Prêtez l'oreille et entendez ma voix; soyez attentifs, entendez ma parole.	23 Pay close attention, and listen to my voice! Attend and hear my eloquence!
24 Le laboureur passe-t-il tout son temps à labourer pour semer, à défoncer et herser son coin de terre?	24 Would the plowman, after plowing all day so that he may sow, instead cut open and hoe his soil?
25 Après avoir aplani la surface, ne jette-t-il pas la nigelle, ne répand-il pas le cumin? Puis il met le blé,le millet, l'orge... et l'épeautre en bordure.	25 Will he not, when he has made the surface level, sow coriander, and scatter cumin, and plant wheat in rows, and barley, and millet, and vetch in their places?
26 Son Dieu lui a enseigné cette règle et l'a instruit.	26 For he will be instructed in judgment; his God will teach him.
27 On n'écrase pas la nigelle avec le traîneau, on ne fait pas passer sur le cumin les roues du chariot.C'est avec un bâton qu'on bat la nigelle, et le cumin se bat au fléau.	27 For coriander cannot be threshed with a saw, and a cartwheel cannot revolve over cumin. Instead, coriander is shaken out with a stick, and cumin with a staff.
28 Lorsqu'on foule le froment, on ne s'attarde pas à l'écraser; on met en marche la roue du chariot et sonattelage, on ne le broie pas.	28 But grain for bread must be crushed. Truly, the thresher cannot thresh it unceasingly, and the cartwheel can neither disrupt it, nor break it with its surface.
29 Tout cela est un don de Yahvé Sabaot, merveilleux conseil qui fait de grandes choses.	29 And this has gone forth from the Lord, the God of hosts, so that he may accomplish his miraculous plan and magnify justice.
