JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et lui dit:	1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 "Consacre-moi tout premier-né, prémices du sein maternel, parmi les Israélites. Homme ou animal,il est à moi."	2 Sanctify unto me every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, as well of men as of beasts: for they are all mine.
3 Moïse dit au peuple: "Souvenez-vous de ce jour, celui où vous êtes sortis d'Egypte, de la maison deservitude, car c'est par la force de sa main que Yahvé vous en a fait sortir, et l'on ne mangera pas de pain levé.	3 And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came forth out of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought you forth out of this place: that you eat no leavened bread.
4 Aujourd'hui vous sortez dans le mois d'Abib.	4 This day you go forth in the month of new corn.
5 Quand Yahvé t'aura fait entrer dans la terre des Cananéens, des Hittites, des Amorites, des Hivviteset des Jébuséens, qu'il a juré à tes pères de te donner, terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel, tu pratiqueras ce rite ence même mois.	5 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Amorrhite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to thy fathers that he would give thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey, thou shalt celebrate this manner of sacred rites in this month.
6 Pendant sept jours tu mangeras des azymes et le septième jour il y aura une fête pour Yahvé.	6 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be the solemnity of the Lord.
7 Ce sont des azymes que l'on mangera pendant les sept jours et l'on ne verra pas chez toi de painlevé, ni on ne verra chez toi de levain, dans tout ton territoire.	7 Unleavened bread shall you eat seven days: there shall not be seen any thing leavened with thee, nor in all thy coasts.
8 Ce jour-là, tu parleras ainsi à ton fils: C'est à cause de ce que Yahvé a fait pour moi lors de ma sortied'Egypte.	8 And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying: This is what the Lord did to me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 Ce sera pour toi un signe sur ta main, un mémorial sur ton front, afin que la loi de Yahvé soittoujours dans ta bouche, car c'est à main forte que Yahvé t'a fait sortir d'Egypte.	9 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a memorial before thy eyes: and that the law of the Lord be always in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
10 Tu observeras cette loi au temps prescrit, d'année en année.	10 Thou shalt keep this observance at the set time from days to days.
11 "Quand Yahvé t'aura fait entrer dans le pays des Cananéens, comme il te l'a juré ainsi qu'à tespères, et qu'il te l'aura donné,	11 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, as he swore to thee and thy fathers, and shall give it thee:
12 tu céderas à Yahvé tout être sorti le premier du sein maternel et toute la première portée des bêtesqui t'appartiennent: les mâles sont à Yahvé.	12 Thou shalt set apart all that openeth the womb for the Lord, and all that is first brought forth of thy cattle: whatsoever thou shalt have of the male sex, thou shalt consecrate to the Lord.
13 Les premiers ânons mis bas, tu les rachèteras par une tête de petit bétail. Si tu ne les rachètes pas,tu leur briseras la nuque, mais tous les premiers-nés de l'homme, parmi tes fils, tu les rachèteras.	13 The firstborn of an ass thou shalt change for a sheep: and if thou do not redeem it, thou shalt kill it. And every firstborn of men thou shalt redeem with a price.
14 Lorsque ton fils te demandera demain: Que signifie ceci? Tu lui diras: C'est par la force de sa mainque Yahvé nous a fait sortir d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude.	14 And when thy son shall ask thee to morrow, saying: What is this? thou shalt answer him: With a strong hand did the Lord bring us forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
15 Comme Pharaon s'entêtait à ne pas nous laisser partir, Yahvé fit périr tous les premiers-nés au paysd'Egypte, aussi bien les premiers-nés des hommes que les premiers-nés du bétail. C'est pourquoi je sacrifie àYahvé tout mâle sorti le premier du sein maternel et je rachète tout premier-né de mes fils.	15 For when Pharao was hardened, and would not let us go, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beasts: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the womb of the male sex, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.
16 Ce sera pour toi un signe sur ta main, un bandeau sur ton front, car c'est par la force de sa main queYahvé nous a fait sortir d'Egypte."	16 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a thing hung between thy eyes, for a remembrance: because the Lord hath brought us forth out of Egypt by a strong hand.
17 Lorsque Pharaon eut laissé partir le peuple, Dieu ne lui fit pas prendre la route du pays desPhilistins, bien qu'elle fût plus proche, car Dieu s'était dit qu'à la vue des combats le peuple pourrait se repentir etretourner en Egypte.	17 And when Pharao had sent out the people, the Lord led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines which is near: thinking lest perhaps they would repent, if they should see wars arise against them, and would return into Egypt.
18 Dieu fit donc faire au peuple un détour par la route du désert de la mer des Roseaux. C'est bienarmés que les Israélites montèrent du pays d'Egypte.	18 But he led them about by the way of the desert, which is by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.
19 Moïse emporta les ossements de Joseph avec lui, car celui-ci avait adjuré les Israélites en disant:"Oui, Dieu vous visitera, et alors vous emporterez d'ici mes ossements avec vous."	19 And Moses took Joseph's bones with him: because he had adjured the children of Israel, saying: God shall visit you, carry out my bones from hence with you.
20 Ils partirent de Sukkot et campèrent à Etam, en bordure du désert.	20 And marching from Socoth they encamped in Etham in the utmost coasts of the wilderness.
21 Yahvé marchait avec eux, le jour dans une colonne de nuée pour leur indiquer la route, et la nuitdans une colonne de feu pour les éclairer, afin qu'ils puissent marcher de jour et de nuit.	21 And the Lord went before them to shew the way by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire: that he might be the guide of their journey at both times.
22 La colonne de nuée ne se retirait pas le jour devant le peuple, ni la colonne de feu la nuit.	22 There never failed the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before the people.
