| 2 Il fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, imitant en tout la conduite de son père Ozias. Seulement iln'entra pas dans le sanctuaire de Yahvé. Mais le peuple continua à se perdre. | 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD according to all that his father Uzziah had done--only he did not invade the temple of the LORD. But the people still followed corrupt practices. |
| 3 C'est lui qui construisit la Porte Supérieure du Temple de Yahvé, et fit de nombreux travauxau mur de l'Ophel. | 3 He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and did much building on the wall of Ophel. |
| 4 Il construisit des villes dans la montagne de Juda ainsi que des citadelles et des tours dans lesterres labourables. | 4 Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and forts and towers on the wooded hills. |
| 5 Il combattit le roi des Ammonites. Il l'emporta sur eux et les Ammonites lui livrèrent cetteannée-là cent talents d'argent, 10.000 muids de froment et 10.000 d'orge. C'est cela que les Ammonites durent luirendre; il en fut de même la seconde et la troisième année. | 5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years. |
| 6 Yotam devint puissant, car il se conduisait avec fermeté en présence de Yahvé son Dieu. | 6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God. |
