EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Hermanos, les recuerdo la Buena Noticia que yo les he predicado, que ustedes han recibido y a la cual permanecen fieles.	1 I want to make quite clear to you, brothers, what the message of the gospel that I preached to you is;you accepted it and took your stand on it,
2 Por ella son salvados, si la conservan tal como yo se la anuncié; de lo contrario, habrán creído en vano.	2 and you are saved by it, if you keep to the message I preached to you; otherwise your coming tobelieve was in vain.
3 Les he trasmitido en primer lugar, lo que yo mismo recibí: Cristo murió por nuestros pecados, conforme a la Escritura.	3 The tradition I handed on to you in the first place, a tradition which I had myself received, was thatChrist died for our sins, in accordance with the scriptures,
4 Fue sepultado y resucitó al tercer día, de acuerdo con la Escritura.	4 and that he was buried; and that on the third day, he was raised to life, in accordance with thescriptures;
5 Se apareció a Pedro y después a los Doce.	5 and that he appeared to Cephas; and later to the Twelve;
6 Luego se apareció a más de quinientos hermanos al mismo tiempo, la mayor parte de los cuales vive aún, y algunos han muerto.	6 and next he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom arestill with us, though some have fal en asleep;
7 Además, se apareció a Santiago y de nuevo a todos los Apóstoles.	7 then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles.
8 Por último, se me apareció también a mí, que soy como el fruto de un aborto.	8 Last of al he appeared to me too, as though I was a child born abnormally.
9 Porque yo soy el último de los Apóstoles, y ni siquiera merezco ser llamado Apóstol, ya que he perseguido a la Iglesia de Dios.	9 For I am the least of the apostles and am not real y fit to be called an apostle, because I had beenpersecuting the Church of God;
10 Pero por la gracia de Dios soy lo que soy, y su gracia no fue estéril en mí, sino que yo he trabajado más que todos ellos, aunque no he sido yo, sino la gracia de Dios que está conmigo.	10 but what I am now, I am through the grace of God, and the grace which was given to me has notbeen wasted. Indeed, I have worked harder than all the others -- not I, but the grace of God which is with me.
11 En resumen, tanto ellos como yo, predicamos lo mismo, y esto es lo que ustedes han creído.	11 Anyway, whether it was they or I, this is what we preach and what you believed.
12 Si se anuncia que Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos, ¿cómo algunos de ustedes afirman que los muertos no resucitan?	12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you be saying that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 ¡Si no hay resurrección, Cristo no resucitó!	13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ cannot have been raised either,
14 Y si Cristo no resucitó, es vana nuestra predicación y vana también la fe de ustedes.	14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is without substance, and so is your faith.
15 Incluso, seríamos falsos testigos de Dios, porque atestiguamos que él resucitó a Jesucristo, lo que es imposible, si los muertos no resucitan.	15 What is more, we have proved to be false witnesses to God, for testifying against God that he raisedChrist to life when he did not raise him -- if it is true that the dead are not raised.
16 Porque si los muertos no resucitan, tampoco Cristo resucitó.	16 For, if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ;
17 Y si Cristo no resucitó, la fe de ustedes es inútil y sus pecados no han sido perdonados.	17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is pointless and you have not, after al , been releasedfrom your sins.
18 en consecuencia, los que murieron con la fe en Cristo han perecido para siempre.	18 In addition, those who have fal en asleep in Christ are utterly lost.
19 Si nosotros hemos puesto nuestra esperanza en Cristo solamente para esta vida, seríamos los hombres más dignos de lástima.	19 If our hope in Christ has been for this life only, we are of al people the most pitiable.
20 Pero no, Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos, el primero de todos.	20 In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of al who have fal enasleep.
21 Porque la muerte vino al mundo por medio de un hombre, y también por medio de un hombre viene la resurrección.	21 As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead.
22 En efecto, así como todos mueren en Adán, así también todos revivirán en Cristo,	22 Just as al die in Adam, so in Christ al wil be brought to life;
23 cada uno según el orden que le corresponde: Cristo, el primero de todos, luego, aquellos que estén unidos a él en el momento de su Venida.	23 but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belongto him.
24 En seguida vendrá el fin, cuando Cristo entregue el Reino a Dios, el Padre, después de haber aniquilado todo Principado, Dominio y Poder.	24 After that wil come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolishedevery principality, every ruling force and power.
25 Porque es necesario que Cristo reine hasta que ponga a todos los enemigos debajo de sus pies.	25 For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool,
26 El último enemigo que será vencido es la muerte,	26 and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put al things under his feet.
27 ya que Dios todo lo sometió bajo sus pies. Pero cuando él diga: «Todo está sometido», será evidentemente a excepción de aquel que le ha sometido todas las cosas.	27 But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjectedeverything to him.
28 Y cuando el universo entero le sea sometido, el mismo Hijo se someterá también a aquel que le sometió todas las cosas, a fin de que Dios sea todo en todos.	28 When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself wil be subjected to the One whohas subjected everything to him, so that God may be al in al .
29 Si no fuera así, ¿de qué sirve bautizarse por los que han muerto? Si los muertos no resucitan, ¿qué sentido tiene bautizarse por ellos?	29 Otherwise, what are people up to who have themselves baptised on behalf of the dead? If the deadare not raised at al , what is the point of being baptised on their behalf?
30 Y nosotros mismos, ¿por qué nos exponemos a cada instante al peligro?	30 And what about us? Why should we endanger ourselves every hour of our lives?
31 Cada día yo me enfrento con la muerte, y esto es tan cierto, hermanos, como que ustedes son mi orgullo en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor.	31 I swear by the pride that I take in you, in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I face death every day.
32 ¿Y qué he ganado, si solamente por motivos humanos, yo tuve que luchar con las fieras en Efeso? Si los muertos no resucitan, «comamos y bebamos, porque mañana moriremos».	32 If I fought wild animals at Ephesus in a purely human perspective, what had I to gain by it?
33 No se dejen engañar: «Las malas compañías corrompen las buenas costumbres».	33 If the dead are not going to be raised, then Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall be dead.
34 Vuelvan a comportarse como es debido y no pequen más, porque hay algunos entre ustedes que todavía no saben nada de Dios: lo digo para vergüenza de ustedes.	34 So do not let anyone lead you astray, 'Bad company corrupts good ways.' Wake up from your stuporas you should and leave sin alone; some of you have no understanding of God; I tel you this to instil someshame in you.
35 Alguien preguntará: ¿Cómo resucitan los muertos? ¿Con qué clase de cuerpo?	35 Someone may ask: How are dead people raised, and what sort of body do they have when theycome?
36 Tu pregunta no tiene sentido. Lo que siembras no llega a tener vida, si antes no muere.	36 How foolish! What you sow must die before it is given new life;
37 Y lo que siembras, no es la planta tal como va a brotar, sino un simple grano, de trigo por ejemplo, o de cualquier otra planta.	37 and what you sow is not the body that is to be, but only a bare grain, of wheat I dare say, or someother kind;
38 Y Dios da a cada semilla la forma que él quiere, a cada clase de semilla, el cuerpo que le corresponde.	38 it is God who gives it the sort of body that he has chosen for it, and for each kind of seed its own kindof body.
39 No todos los cuerpos son idénticos: una es la carne de los hombres, otra la de los animales, otra la de las aves y otra la de los peces.	39 Not al flesh is the same flesh: there is human flesh; animals have another kind of flesh, birds anotherand fish yet another.
40 Hay cuerpos celestiales y cuerpos terrestres, y cada uno tiene su propio resplandor:	40 Then there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; the heavenly have a splendour of their own, andthe earthly a different splendour.
41 uno es el resplandor del sol, otro el de la luna y otro el de las estrellas, y aun las estrellas difieren unas de otras por su resplandor.	41 The sun has its own splendour, the moon another splendour, and the stars yet another splendour;and the stars differ among themselves in splendour.
42 Lo mismo pasa con la resurrección de los muertos: se siembran cuerpos corruptibles y resucitarán incorruptibles;	42 It is the same too with the resurrection of the dead: what is sown is perishable, but what is raised isimperishable;
43 se siembran cuerpos humillados y resucitarán gloriosos; se siembran cuerpos débiles y resucitarán llenos de fuerza;	43 what is sown is contemptible but what is raised is glorious; what is sown is weak, but what is raisedis powerful;
44 se siembran cuerpos puramente naturales y resucitarán cuerpos espirituales. Porque hay un cuerpo puramente natural y hay también un cuerpo espiritual.	44 what is sown is a natural body, and what is raised is a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, thereis a spiritual body too.
45 Esto es lo que dice la Escritura: El primer hombre, Adán, fue creado como un ser viviente; el último Adán, en cambio, es un ser espiritual que da la Vida.	45 So the first man, Adam, as scripture says, became a living soul; and the last Adam has become alife-giving spirit.
46 Pero no existió primero lo espiritual sino lo puramente natural; lo espiritual viene después.	46 But first came the natural body, not the spiritual one; that came only afterwards.
47 El primer hombre procede de la tierra y es terrenal; pero el segundo hombre procede del cielo.	47 The first man, being made of earth, is earthly by nature; the second man is from heaven.
48 Los hombres terrenales serán como el hombre terrenal, y los celestiales como el celestial.	48 The earthly man is the pattern for earthly people, the heavenly man for heavenly ones.
49 De la misma manera que hemos sido revestidos de la imagen del hombre terrenal, también lo seremos de la imagen del hombre celestial.	49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so we shal bear the likeness of the heavenlyone.
50 Les aseguro, hermanos, que lo puramente humano no puede tener parte en el Reino de Dios, ni la corrupción puede heredar lo que es incorruptible.	50 What I am saying, brothers, is that mere human nature cannot inherit the kingdom of God: what isperishable cannot inherit what is imperishable.
51 Les voy a revelar un misterio: No todos vamos a morir, pero todos seremos transformados.	51 Now I am going to tel you a mystery: we are not al going to fal asleep,
52 En un instante, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, cuando suene la trompeta final –porque esto sucederá– los muertos resucitarán incorruptibles y nosotros seremos transformados.	52 but we are al going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpetsounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead wil be raised imperishable, and we shal be changed,
53 Lo que es corruptible debe revestirse de la incorruptibilidad y lo que es mortal debe revestirse de la inmortalidad.	53 because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put onimmortality.
54 Cuando lo que es corruptible se revista de la incorruptibilidad y lo que es mortal se revista de la inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra de la Escritura: La muerte ha sido vencida.	54 And after this perishable nature has put on imperishability and this mortal nature has put onimmortality, then wil the words of scripture come true: Death is swal owed up in victory.
55 ¿Dónde está, muerte, tu victoria? ¿Dónde está tu aguijón?	55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?
56 Porque lo que provoca la muerte es el pecado y lo que da fuerza al pecado es la ley.	56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin comes from the Law.
57 ¡Demos gracias a Dios, que nos ha dado la victoria por nuestro Señor Jesucristo!	57 Thank God, then, for giving us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
58 Por eso, queridos hermanos, permanezcan firmes e inconmovibles, progresando constantemente en la obra del Señor, con la certidumbre de que los esfuerzos que realizan por él no serán vanos.	58 So, my dear brothers, keep firm and immovable, always abounding in energy for the Lord's work,being sure that in the Lord none of your labours is wasted.
