1 Alors les princes des familles de Lévi vinrent trouver le grand prêtre Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nun, et les chefs des familles de chaque tribu des enfants d'Israël ;	1 Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2 et ils lui parlèrent à Silo dans le pays de Chanaan, et leur dirent : Le Seigneur a commandé par Moïse qu'on nous donnât des villes où nous puissions demeurer, avec leurs faubourgs pour y nourrir nos bêtes.	2 And they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.
3 Alors les enfants d'Israël détachèrent des héritages dont ils étaient en possession, des villes avec leurs faubourgs, et les donnèrent aux Lévites, selon que le Seigneur l'avait commandé.	3 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
4 Et le sort ayant été jeté pour la famille de Caath, treize villes des tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin, échurent aux enfants du grand prêtre Aaron.	4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5 Dix villes des tribus d'Ephraïm, de Dan, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, échurent aux autres enfants de Caath, c'est-à-dire aux Lévites.	5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 (Mais) Le sort ayant été jeté pour les enfants de Gerson, treize villes des tribus d'Issachar, d'Aser, de Nephtali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé (en Basan,) leur échurent en partage.	6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7 Et douze villes des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et de Zabulon, furent données aux enfants de Mérari selon leurs familles.	7 The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Les enfants d'Israël donnèrent aux Lévites ces villes et leurs faubourgs, comme le Seigneur l'avait ordonné par (l'entremise de) Moïse, les partageant entre eux selon qu'elles leur étaient échues par le sort.	8 And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
9 Josué donna les villes des tribus de Juda et de Siméon, dont voici les noms,	9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,
10 aux enfants d'Aaron de la famille de Caath, de la race de Lévi, parce que le premier lot leur échut :	10 Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
11 Cariatharbé, ville du père d'Enac, qui s'appelle maintenant Hébron, sur la montagne de Juda, avec les faubourgs dont elle est environnée.	11 And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it.
12 Car il en avait donné les champs et les villages à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, comme l'héritage qu'il devait posséder.	12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13 Il donna donc pour ville de refuge aux fils du grand prêtre Aaron la ville d'Hébron, avec ses faubourgs, Lobna avec ses faubourgs,	13 Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs,
14 Jéther, Estémo,	14 And Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs,
15 Holon, Dabir,	15 And Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs,
16 Aïn, Jéta et Bethsamès avec leurs faubourgs : neuf villes appartenant à deux tribus, comme il a été dit.	16 And Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
17 Et de la tribu des enfants de Benjamin, Gabaon, Gabaé,	17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,
18 Anathoth et Almon, quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	18 Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities.
19 Ainsi, treize villes en tout furent données avec leurs faubourgs aux enfants du grand prêtre Aaron.	19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
20 Voici celles qui furent données aux autres familles des enfants de Caath de la race de Lévi.	20 And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21 Ils eurent de la tribu d'Ephraïm, Sichem, l'une des villes de refuge avec ses faubourgs, sur la montagne d'Ephraïm, Gazer,	21 For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs,
22 Cibsaïm et Beth-horon avec leurs faubourgs : quatre villes.	22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs; four cities.
23 De la tribu de Dan, ils eurent aussi Elthéco, Gabathon,	23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs,
24 Aïalon et Gethremmon : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	24 Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; four cities.
25 Et de la demi-tribu de Manassé ils eurent deux villes avec leurs faubourgs, Thanach et Gethremmon.	25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; two cities.
26 Ainsi, dix villes en tout avec leurs faubourgs furent données aux enfants de Caath, qui étaient dans un degré inférieur aux prêtres.	26 All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
27 Il donna aussi aux enfants de Gerson, de la race de Lévi, deux villes de la demi-tribu de Manassé : Gaulon en Basan, l'une des villes de refuge, et Bosra, avec leurs faubourgs.	27 And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beesh-terah with her suburbs; two cities.
28 De la tribu d'Issachar, Césion, Dabéreth,	28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs,
29 Jaramoth et Engannim : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	29 Jarmuth with her suburbs, En-gannim with her suburbs; four cities.
30 De la tribu d'Aser, Masal, Abdon,	30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs,
31 Helcath, et Rohob : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	31 Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.
32 Il donna aussi de la tribu de Nephtali, Cédès en Galilée, l'une des villes de refuge, Hammoth-Dor et Carthan : trois villes avec leurs faubourgs.	32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammoth-dor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.
33 Ainsi, toutes les villes qui furent données aux familles de Gerson furent au nombre de treize, avec leurs faubourgs.	33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
34 Il donna aussi aux enfants de Mérari, Lévites d'un degré inférieur, selon leurs familles, de la tribu de Zabulon, Jecnan, Cartha,	34 And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
35 Damna et Naalol : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	35 Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.
36 De la tribu de Ruben au-delà du Jourdain vis-à-vis de Jéricho, Bosor dans le désert, l'une des villes de refuge, et Misor, Jaser, Jethson et Méphaath : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs,
37 De la tribu de Gad il leur donna Ramoth en Galaad, l'une des villes de refuge, Manaïm, Hésébon et Jazer : quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs.	37 Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.
38 Les enfants de Mérari, selon leurs familles et leurs maisons, reçurent en tout douze villes.	38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,
39 Ainsi toutes les villes qu'eurent les Lévites au milieu de l'héritage des enfants d'Israël furent au nombre de quarante-huit,	39 Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.
40 avec leurs faubourgs, et elles furent toutes distribuées selon l'ordre des familles.	40 So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
41 Le Seigneur Dieu donna à Israël toute la terre qu'il avait promis(e ?) avec serment à leurs pères de leur donner, et ils la possédèrent et l'habitèrent.	41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
42 (Et) Il leur donna la paix avec tous les peuples qui les environnaient, et nul d'entre leurs ennemis n'osa leur résister ; mais ils furent tous assujettis à leur puissance.	42 These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.
43 Il n'y eut pas une seule parole de tout ce que Dieu avait promis de donner aux Israélites qui demeura sans effet ; mais tout fut accompli très exactement.	43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
	44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
	45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
