| 1 Le Seigneur parla à Moïse, et lui dit : | 1 Now the LORD said to Moses, |
| 2 Parle à Aaron, et dis-lui : Lorsque tu auras placé les sept lampes, que le chandelier soit dressé du côté du midi. Ordonne donc que les lampes (du côté opposé) regardent le septentrion, vers la table des pains de proposition ; car elles doivent (toujours) jeter leur lumière vers cette partie qui est vis-à-vis du chandelier. | 2 "Say to Aaron, When you set up the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand." |
| 3 (Et) Aaron exécuta ce qui lui avait été dit, et il mit les lampes sur le chandelier, selon que le Seigneur l'avait ordonné à Moïse. | 3 And Aaron did so; he set up its lamps to give light in front of the lampstand, as the LORD commanded Moses. |
| 4 Or voici de quelle manière ce chandelier était fait : il était tout d'or battu au marteau (ductile), tant la tige du milieu, que les branches qui en naissaient des deux côtés ; et Moïse l'avait fait selon le modèle que le Seigneur lui avait fait voir. | 4 And this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold; from its base to its flowers, it was hammered work; according to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand. |
| 5 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit : | 5 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 6 Prends les Lévites du milieu des enfants d'Israël, et purifie-les (d'après ce rite). | 6 "Take the Levites from among the people of Israel, and cleanse them. |
| 7 (selon ce rite :) Tu répandras sur eux de l'eau d'expiation, et ils raseront tout le poil de leur corps. Et après qu'ils auront lavé leurs vêtements, et qu'ils se seront purifiés, | 7 And thus you shall do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them go with a razor over all their body, and wash their clothes and cleanse themselves. |
| 8 ils prendront un bœuf du (des) troupeau(x), avec l'offrande de (fleur de) farine mêlée d'huile qui doit l'accompagner. Tu prendras aussi un autre bœuf du troupeau pour le péché, | 8 Then let them take a young bull and its cereal offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull for a sin offering. |
| 9 et tu feras approcher les Lévites devant le tabernacle de l'alliance, après que tu auras fait assembler tous les enfants d'Israël. | 9 And you shall present the Levites before the tent of meeting, and assemble the whole congregation of the people of Israel. |
| 10 Lorsque les Lévites seront devant le Seigneur, les enfants d'Israël mettront leurs mains sur eux, | 10 When you present the Levites before the LORD, the people of Israel shall lay their hands upon the Levites, |
| 11 et Aaron offrira les Lévites comme un présent que les enfants d'Israël font au Seigneur afin qu'ils lui rendent service dans les fonctions de son ministère. | 11 and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the people of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of the LORD. |
| 12 Les Lévites mettront aussi leurs mains sur la tête des deux bœufs, dont tu sacrifieras l'un pour le péché, et tu offriras l'autre au Seigneur en holocauste, afin d'obtenir par tes prières que Dieu leur soit favorable (que tu pries pour eux). | 12 Then the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bulls; and you shall offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. |
| 13 Tu présenteras ensuite les Lévites devant Aaron et ses fils, et tu les consacreras après les avoir offerts au Seigneur. | 13 And you shall cause the Levites to attend Aaron and his sons, and shall offer them as a wave offering to the LORD. |
| 14 Tu les sépareras du milieu des enfants d'Israël, afin qu'ils soient à moi ; | 14 "Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the people of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine. |
| 15 et après cela ils entreront dans le tabernacle de l'alliance pour me servir. Voilà la manière dont tu les purifieras, et dont tu les consacreras en les offrant au Seigneur ; parce qu'ils m'ont été donnés par les enfants d'Israël. | 15 And after that the Levites shall go in to do service at the tent of meeting, when you have cleansed them and offered them as a wave offering. |
| 16 Je les ai reçus à la place de tous les premiers-nés d'Israël, qui sortent les premiers du sein de la mère ; | 16 For they are wholly given to me from among the people of Israel; instead of all that open the womb, the first-born of all the people of Israel, I have taken them for myself. |
| 17 car tous les premiers-nés des enfants d'Israël, tant des hommes que des bêtes, sont à moi. Je me les suis consacrés le jour où je frappai en Egypte tous les premiers-nés ; | 17 For all the first-born among the people of Israel are mine, both of man and of beast; on the day that I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt I consecrated them for myself, |
| 18 et j'ai pris les Lévites pour (au lieu de) tous les premiers-nés des enfants d'Israël, | 18 and I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel. |
| 19 et j'en ai fait don à Aaron et à ses fils, après les avoir tirés du milieu du peuple, afin qu'ils me servent dans le tabernacle de l'alliance à la place des enfants d'Israël, et qu'ils prient pour eux, de peur que le peuple ne soit frappé de quelque plaie, s'il osait s'approcher du sanctuaire. | 19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the people of Israel, to do the service for the people of Israel at the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the people of Israel, that there may be no plague among the people of Israel in case the people of Israel should come near the sanctuary." |
| 20 Moïse et Aaron et toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël firent donc à l'égard des Lévites ce que le Seigneur avait ordonné à Moïse. | 20 Thus did Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the people of Israel to the Levites; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, the people of Israel did to them. |
| 21 Ils furent purifiés, et ils lavèrent leurs vêtements, et Aaron les présenta en offrande devant le Seigneur, et pria pour eux, | 21 And the Levites purified themselves from sin, and washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. |
| 22 afin qu'ayant été purifiés, ils entrassent dans le tabernacle de l'alliance, pour y faire leurs fonctions en présence d'Aaron et de ses fils. Tout ce que le Seigneur avait ordonné à Moïse touchant les Lévites fut exécuté. | 22 And after that the Levites went in to do their service in the tent of meeting in attendance upon Aaron and his sons; as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them. |
| 23 Le Seigneur parla de nouveau à Moïse, et lui dit : | 23 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 24 Voici la loi pour les Lévites : Depuis vingt-cinq ans et au-dessus ils entreront dans le tabernacle de l'alliance, pour s'employer à leur ministère ; | 24 "This is what pertains to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to perform the work in the service of the tent of meeting; |
| 25 et, lorsqu'ils auront cinquante ans accomplis, ils ne serviront plus ; | 25 and from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw from the work of the service and serve no more, |
| 26 ils aideront seulement leurs frères dans le tabernacle de l'alliance, pour garder ce qui leur a été confié ; mais ils ne feront plus leurs offices ordinaires. C'est ainsi que vous réglerez les Lévites, touchant les fonctions de leurs charges. | 26 but minister to their brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties." |
