| 1 Moïse rapporta aux enfants d'Israël tout ce que le Seigneur lui avait commandé ; | 1 Moses said to the heads of the tribes of the people of Israel, "This is what the LORD has commanded. |
| 2 et il dit aux princes des tribus des enfants d'Israël : Voici ce que le Seigneur a ordonné : | 2 When a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. |
| 3 Si un homme a fait un vœu au Seigneur, ou s'est lié par un serment, il ne manquera point à sa parole, mais il accomplira tout ce qu'il aura promis. | 3 Or when a woman vows a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by a pledge, while within her father's house, in her youth, |
| 4 Lorsqu'une femme aura fait un vœu, et se sera liée par un serment, si c'est une jeune fille qui soit encore dans la maison de son père, et que le père, ayant connu le vœu qu'elle a fait et le serment par lequel elle a lié son âme, n'en ait rien dit, elle sera tenue à son vœu ; | 4 and her father hears of her vow and of her pledge by which she has bound herself, and says nothing to her; then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she has bound herself shall stand. |
| 5 et elle accomplira effectivement tout ce qu'elle aura promis et juré. | 5 But if her father expresses disapproval to her on the day that he hears of it, no vow of hers, no pledge by which she has bound herself, shall stand; and the LORD will forgive her, because her father opposed her. |
| 6 Mais si le père s'est opposé à son vœu aussitôt qu'il lui a été connu, ses vœux et ses serments seront nuls, et elle ne sera point obligée à ce qu'elle aura promis, parce que le père s'y est opposé. | 6 And if she is married to a husband, while under her vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself, |
| 7 Si c'est une femme mariée qui ait fait un vœu, et si la parole, étant une fois sortie de sa bouche, a obligé son âme par serment, | 7 and her husband hears of it, and says nothing to her on the day that he hears; then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. |
| 8 et que son mari ne l'ait point désavouée le jour même qu'il l'a su, elle sera obligée à son vœu, et elle accomplira tout ce qu'elle aura promis. | 8 But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he expresses disapproval, then he shall make void her vow which was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips, by which she bound herself; and the LORD will forgive her. |
| 9 Que si son mari l'ayant su la désavoue aussitôt, et rend vaines ses promesses et les paroles par lesquelles elle aura lié son âme, le Seigneur lui pardonnera (sera propice). | 9 But any vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, anything by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her. |
| 10 La femme veuve et la femme répudiée accompliront tous les vœux qu'elles auront faits. | 10 And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound herself by a pledge with an oath, |
| 11 Si une femme étant dans la maison de son mari s'est liée par un vœu et par un serment, | 11 and her husband heard of it, and said nothing to her, and did not oppose her; then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she bound herself shall stand. |
| 12 et que le mari l'ayant su n'en dise mot et ne désavoue point la promesse qu'elle aura faite, elle accomplira tout ce qu'elle avait promis. | 12 But if her husband makes them null and void on the day that he hears them, then whatever proceeds out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning her pledge of herself, shall not stand: her husband has made them void, and the LORD will forgive her. |
| 13 Mais si le mari la désavoue aussitôt, elle ne sera point tenue à sa promesse, parce que son mari l'a désavouée, et le Seigneur lui pardonnera (sera propice). | 13 Any vow and any binding oath to afflict herself, her husband may establish, or her husband may make void. |
| 14 Si elle a fait un vœu, et si elle s'est obligée par serment d'affliger son âme ou par le jeûne ou par d'autres sortes d'abstinences, il dépendra de la volonté de son mari qu'elle le fasse ou qu'elle ne le fasse pas. | 14 But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows, or all her pledges, that are upon her; he has established them, because he said nothing to her on the day that he heard of them. |
| 15 Que si son mari l'ayant su n'en a rien dit, et a différé au lendemain à en dire son sentiment, elle accomplira tous les vœux et toutes les promesses qu'elle avait faites, parce que le mari n'en a rien dit aussitôt qu'il l'a appris. | 15 But if he makes them null and void after he has heard of them, then he shall bear her iniquity." |
| 16 Que (Mais) si, aussitôt qu'il a connu le vœu de sa femme, il l'a désavouée, il sera lui seul chargé de toute sa faute (l'iniquité de sa femme). | 16 These are the statutes which the LORD commanded Moses, as between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter, while in her youth, within her father's house. |
| 17 Ce sont là les lois que le Seigneur a données à Moïse pour qu'elles fussent observées entre le mari et la femme, entre le père et la fille qui est encore toute jeune, ou qui demeure dans la maison de son père. | |
