| 1 Le Seigneur me dit : Va encore, et aime une femme qui est aimée d'un amant, et adultère ; de même que le Seigneur aime les enfants d'Israël, tandis qu'ils se tournent vers des dieux étrangers et qu'ils aiment le marc du vin (de raisin). | 1 And the Lord said to me: “Go yet again, and love a woman, beloved by a friend, yet an adulteress, for so does the Lord love the sons of Israel, yet they look to strange gods, and love the seeds of grapes.” |
| 2 Je l'achetai (cette femme) pour quinze pièces d'argent, et une mesure (un cor, note) d'orge, et un(e) demi mesure (cor) d'orge. | 2 And I contracted her to me for fifteen silver coins, and for a basket of barley, and half a basket of barley. |
| 3 Et je lui dis : Tu m'attendras pendant des jours nombreux ; tu ne te livreras pas à la prostitution et tu ne seras à aucun homme ; et moi aussi je t'attendrai. | 3 And I said to her, “You will wait for me for many days. You will not commit fornication, and you will not be with a man. But I also will wait for you.” |
| 4 Car pendant des jours nombreux les enfants d'Israël demeureront sans roi, sans prince, sans sacrifice et sans autel, sans éphod et sans théraphim. | 4 For the sons of Israel will sit for many days without a king, and without a leader, and without sacrifice, and without altar, and without priestly vestments, and without religious symbols. |
| 5 Et après cela les enfants d'Israël reviendront, et ils chercheront le Seigneur leur Dieu, et David leur roi : et ils s'approcheront avec crainte du Seigneur et de ses biens, aux derniers (au dernier des) jours. | 5 And after this, the sons of Israel will return, and they will seek the Lord their God and David their king, and they will be terrified by the Lord and by his goodness, in the last days. |
