| 1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit : | 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: |
| 2 Voici ce que vous observerez touchant le lépreux, lorsqu'il doit être déclaré pur. Il sera mené au prêtre ; | 2 This is the rite of a leper, when he is to be cleansed: he shall be brought to the priest: |
| 3 et le prêtre étant sorti du camp, et ayant reconnu que la lèpre est (bien) guérie, | 3 Who going out of the camp when he shall And that the leprosy is cleansed, |
| 4 ordonnera à celui qui doit être purifié d'offrir pour lui-même deux passereaux vivants, dont il est permis de manger ; du bois de cèdre, de l'écarlate et de l'hysope. | 4 Shall command him that is to be purified, to offer for himself two living sparrows, which it is lawful to eat, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop. |
| 5 Il ordonnera, de plus, que l'un des passereaux soit immolé dans un vase de terre sur de l'eau vive. | 5 And he shall command one of the sparrows to be immolated in an earthen vessel over living waters: |
| 6 Il trempera l'autre passereau, resté vivant, avec le bois de cèdre, l'écarlate, et l'hysope, dans le sang du passereau qui aura été immolé. | 6 But the other that is alive he shall dip, with the cedar wood, and the scarlet and the hyssop, in the blood of the sparrow that is immolated: |
| 7 Il fera sept fois les aspersions avec ce sang sur celui qu'il purifie, afin qu'il soit légitimement purifié. Après cela, il laissera aller le passereau vivant, afin qu'il s'envole dans les champs. | 7 Wherewith he shall sprinkle him that is to be cleansed seven times, that he may be rightly purified: and he shall let go the living sparrow, that it may fly into the field. |
| 8 Et lorsque cet homme aura lavé ses vêtements, il rasera tout le poil de son corps, et il sera lavé dans l'eau, et étant ainsi purifié, il entrera dans le camp, de telle sorte néanmoins qu'il demeure sept jours hors de sa tente. | 8 And when the man hath washed his clothes, he shall shave all the hair of his body, and shall be washed with water: and being purified, he shall enter into the camp, yet so that he tarry without his own tent seven days: |
| 9 Le septième jour il rasera les cheveux de sa tête, la barbe et les sourcils, et tout le poil du corps ; et ayant encore lavé ses vêtements et son corps (une seconde fois), | 9 And on the seventh day he shall shave the hair of his head, and his beard and his eyebrows, and the hair of all his body. And having washed again his clothes, and his body, |
| 10 le huitième jour il prendra deux agneaux sans tache, et une brebis d'un an qui soit aussi sans tache, et trois dixièmes de fleur de farine mêlée d'huile, pour être employée au sacrifice, et de plus un setier d'huile à part. | 10 On the eighth day he shall take two lambs without blemish, and an ewe of a year old without blemish, and three tenths of flour tempered with oil for a sacrifice, and a sextary of oil apart. |
| 11 Et lorsque le prêtre qui purifie cet homme l'aura présenté avec toutes ces choses devant le Seigneur, à l'entrée du tabernacle du (de) témoignage, | 11 And when the priest that purifieth the man, hath presented him, and all these things before the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, |
| 12 il prendra un des agneaux, et il l'offrira pour le délit, avec le setier d'huile ; et ayant offert toutes ces choses devant le Seigneur, | 12 He shall take a. lamb, and offer it for a trespass offering with the sextary of oil: and having offered all before the Lord, |
| 13 il immolera l'agneau au lieu où l'hostie pour le péché et la victime de l'holocauste sont habituellement immolées, c'est-à-dire dans le lieu saint. Car l'hostie qui s'offre pour le délit appartient au prêtre, comme celle qui s'offre pour le péché ; et la chair en est très sainte. | 13 He shall immolate the lamb, where the victim for sin is wont to be immolated, and the holocaust, that is, in the holy place: for as that which is for sin, so also the victim for a trespass offering pertaineth to the priest: it is holy of holies. |
| 14 Alors le prêtre, prenant du sang de la victime qui aura été immolée pour le délit, en mettra sur l'extrémité de l'oreille droite de celui qui se purifie, et sur les pouces de sa main droite et de son pied droit (du pied). | 14 And the priest taking of the blood of the victim that was immolated for trespass, shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand and the great toe of his right foot: |
| 15 Il versera aussi (ensuite) une partie du setier d'huile dans sa main gauche, | 15 And he shall pour of the sextary of oil into his own left. hand, |
| 16 et il trempera le doigt de sa main droite dans cette huile, et en fera sept fois les aspersions devant le Seigneur ; | 16 And shall dip his right finger in it, and sprinkle it before the Lord seven times. |
| 17 et il répandra ce qui restera d'huile dans sa main gauche, sur l'extrémité de l'oreille droite de celui qui est purifié, sur les pouces de sa main droite et de son pied droit, et sur le sang qui a été répandu pour le délit, | 17 And the rest of the oil in his left band, he shall pour upon the tip of the right ear of him that is cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand and the great toe of his right foot, and upon the blood that was shed for trespass, |
| 18 et sur la tête de cet homme. | 18 And upon his head. |
| 19 Le prêtre en même temps priera pour lui devant le Seigneur, et il offrira le sacrifice pour le péché. Alors il immolera l'holocauste, | 19 And he shall pray for him before the Lord, and shall offer the sacrifice for sin: then shall he immolate the holocaust, |
| 20 et il le mettra sur l'autel avec les libations qui doivent l'accompagner ; et cet homme sera purifié selon la loi. | 20 And put it on the altar with the libations thereof, and the man shall be rightly cleansed. |
| 21 S'il est pauvre, et s'il ne peut pas trouver tout ce qui a été marqué, il prendra un agneau qui sera offert pour le délit, afin que le prêtre prie pour lui, et un dixième de fleur de farine mêlée d'huile pour être offert en sacrifice, avec un setier d'huile, | 21 But if he be poor, and his hand cannot find the things aforesaid: he shall take a lamb for an offering for trespass, that the priest may pray for him, and a tenth part of hour tempered with oil for a sacrifice, and a sextary of oil, |
| 22 et deux tourterelles ou deux petits de colombe, dont l'un sera pour le péché, et l'autre pour l'holocauste. | 22 And two turtles or two young pigeons, of which one may be for sin, and the other for a holocaust: |
| 23 Et au huitième jour de sa purification il les offrira au prêtre à l'entrée du tabernacle du (de) témoignage, devant le Seigneur. | 23 And he shall offer them on the eighth day of his purification to the priest, at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony before the Lord. |
| 24 Alors le prêtre, recevant l'agneau pour le délit et le setier d'huile, les élèvera ensemble ; | 24 And the priest receiving the lamb for trespass, and the sextary of oil, shall elevate them together. |
| 25 et ayant immolé l'agneau, il en prendra du sang, qu'il mettra sur l'extrémité de l'oreille droite de celui qui se purifie, et sur les pouces de sa main droite et de son pied droit. | 25 And the lamb being immolated, he shall put of the blood thereof upon the tip of the right ear of him that is cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and the great toe of his right foot: |
| 26 Il versera aussi une partie de l'huile dans sa main gauche ; | 26 But he shall pour part of the oil into his own left hand, |
| 27 et y ayant trempé le doigt de sa main droite, il en fera sept fois les aspersions devant le Seigneur. | 27 And dipping the finger of his right hand in it, he shall sprinkle it seven times before the Lord: |
| 28 Il en touchera l'extrémité de l'oreille droite de celui qui se purifie, et les pouces de sa main droite et de son pied droit, au même lieu qui avait été arrosé du sang répandu pour le délit ; | 28 And he shall touch the tip of the right ear of him that is cleansed, and the thumb of his right hand and the great toe of his right foot, in the place of the blood that was shed for trespass. |
| 29 et il mettra sur la tête de celui qui est purifié le reste de l'huile qui est dans sa main gauche, afin de lui rendre le Seigneur favorable. | 29 And the other part of the oil that is in his left hand, he shall pour upon the head of the purified person, that he may appease the Lord for him. |
| 30 Il offrira aussi une tourterelle, ou le petit d'une colombe, | 30 And he shall offer a turtle, or young pigeon, |
| 31 l'un pour le délit (l'offense), et l'autre pour servir d'holocauste avec les libations qui l'accompagnent. | 31 One for trespass, and the other for a holocaust, with their libations. |
| 32 C'est là le sacrifice du lépreux qui ne peut pas avoir pour sa purification tout ce qui a été ordonné. | 32 This is the sacrifice of a leper, that is not able to have all things that appertain to his cleansing. |
| 33 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse et à Aaron, et il leur dit : | 33 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: |
| 34 Lorsque vous serez entrés dans le pays de Chanaan, que je vous donnerai en possession, s'il se trouve une maison frappée de la plaie de la lèpre, | 34 When you shall be come into the land of Chanaan, which I will give you for a possession, if there be the plague of leprosy in a house, |
| 35 celui à qui appartient la maison ira en avertir le prêtre, et il lui dira : Il semble que la lèpre paraisse dans ma maison. | 35 He whose house it is, shall go and tell the priest, saying: It seemeth to me, that there is the plague of leprosy in my house, |
| 36 Alors le prêtre ordonnera qu'on emporte tout ce qui est dans la maison, avant qu'il y entre et qu'il voie si la lèpre y est, de peur que tout ce qui est dans cette maison ne devienne impur. Il entrera ensuite dans la maison, pour considérer si elle est frappée de lèpre ; | 36 And he shall command, that they carry forth all things out of the house, before he go into it, and see whether it have the leprosy, lest all things become unclean that are in the house. And afterwards he shall go in to view the leprosy of the house. |
| 37 et s'il voit dans les murailles comme de petits creux, et des endroits défigurés (hideux) par des taches pâles ou rougeâtres, et plus enfoncés que le reste de la muraille, | 37 And if he see in the walls thereof as it were little dints, disfigured with paleness or redness, and lower than all the rest, |
| 38 il sortira hors de la porte de la maison, et la fermera aussitôt, sans l'ouvrir pendant sept jours. | 38 He shall go out of the door of the house, and forthwith shut it up seven days, |
| 39 Il reviendra le septième jour, et la considérera ; et s'il trouve que la lèpre se soit augmentée, | 39 And returning on the seventh day, he shall look upon it. If he find that the leprosy is spread, |
| 40 il commandera qu'on arrache les pierres infectées de lèpre, qu'on les jette hors de la ville dans un lieu impur (immonde) ; | 40 He shall command, that the stones wherein the leprosy is, be taken out, and cast without the city into an unclean place: |
| 41 (mais) qu'on racle au-dedans les murailles de la maison tout autour, qu'on jette toute la poussière qui en sera tombée en les raclant, hors de la ville dans un lieu impur (immonde) ; | 41 And that the house be scraped on the inside round about, and the dust of the scraping be scattered without the city into an unclean place: |
| 42 (puis) qu'on remette d'autres pierres au lieu de celles qu'on aura ôtées, et qu'on crépisse de nouveau avec d'autre terre les murailles de la maison. | 42 And that other stones be laid in the place of them that were taken away, and the house be plastered with other mortar. |
| 43 Mais si, après qu'on aura ôté les pierres des murailles, qu'on aura raclé la poussière, et qu'on les aura crépies avec d'autre terre, | 43 But if, after the stones be taken out, and the dust scraped off, and it be plastered with other earth, |
| 44 le prêtre, y entrant, trouve que la lèpre y est revenue, et que les murailles sont gâtées de ces mêmes taches, il jugera que c'est une lèpre enracinée (persévérante), et que la maison est impure. | 44 The priest going in perceive that the leprosy is returned, and the walls full of spots, it is a lasting leprosy, and the house is unclean: |
| 45 Elle sera détruite aussitôt, et on en jettera les pierres, le bois, toute la terre ou la poussière hors de la ville en un lieu impur (immonde). | 45 And they shall destroy it forthwith, and shall cast the stones and timber thereof, and all the dust without the town into an unclean place. |
| 46 Celui qui entrera dans cette maison lorsqu'elle a été fermée, sera impur jusqu'au soir ; | 46 He that entereth into the house when it is shut, shall be unclean until evening, |
| 47 et celui qui y dormira et y mangera quelque chose, lavera ses vêtements. | 47 And he that sleepeth in it, and eateth any thing, shall wash his clothes. |
| 48 Si le prêtre, entrant en cette maison, voit que la lèpre ne s'est pas répandue sur les murailles après qu'elles auront été enduites de nouveau, il la purifiera, comme étant devenue saine ; | 48 But if the priest going in perceive that the leprosy is not spread in the house, after it was plastered again, he shall purify it, it being cured, |
| 49 et il prendra pour la purifier deux passereaux, du bois de cèdre, de l'écarlate et de l'hysope ; | 49 And for the purification thereof he shall take two sparrows, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: |
| 50 et ayant immolé l'un des passereaux dans un vase de terre sur des eaux vives, | 50 And having immolated one sparrow In an earthen vessel over living waters, |
| 51 il trempera dans le sang du passereau qui a été immolé, et dans les eaux vives, le bois de cèdre, l'hysope, l'écarlate, et l'autre passereau qui est vivant. Il fera sept fois les aspersions dans la maison, | 51 He shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living sparrow, and shall dip all in the blood of the sparrow that is immolated, and in the living water, and he shall sprinkle the house seven times: |
| 52 et il la purifiera, tant par le sang du passereau qui aura été immolé, que par les eaux vives, par le passereau qui sera vivant, par le bois de cèdre, par l'hysope et par l'écarlate. | 52 And shall purify it as well with the blood of the sparrow, as with the living water, and with the living sparrow, and with the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet. |
| 53 Et lorsqu'il aura laissé aller l'autre passereau, afin qu'il s'envole en liberté dans les champs, il priera pour la maison, et elle sera purifiée selon la loi (légitimement). | 53 And when he hath let go the sparrow to fly freely away into the field, he shall pray for the house, and it shall be rightly cleansed. |
| 54 C'est là la loi qui regarde toutes les espèces de lèpre, et de plaie qui dégénère en lèpre (plaie), | 54 This is the law of every kind of leprosy and stroke. |
| 55 comme aussi la lèpre des vêtements et des maisons, | 55 Of the leprosy of garments and houses, |
| 56 les cicatrices, les pustules, les taches luisantes, et les divers changements de couleurs (qui arrivent sur le corps) ; | 56 Of a scar and of blisters breaking out, of a shining spot, and when the colours are diversely changed: |
| 57 afin que l'on puisse reconnaître quand une chose sera pure ou impure. | 57 That it may be known when a thing is clean or unclean. |
