| 1 En ce jour-là le Seigneur visitera, avec son glaive dur, grand et fort, Léviathan, (ce) serpent robuste (levier, note), Léviathan, ce serpent tortueux, et il tuera le monstre de (grand poisson qui est dans) la mer. | 1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. |
| 2 En ce jour-là, la vigne au (du) vin pur (le) chantera pour lui. | 2 In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. |
| 3 Je suis (Moi,) le Seigneur qui la garde ; je l'arroserai à tout instant (soudain) ; de peur qu'on ne lui nuise, je la garde nuit et jour. | 3 I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. |
| 4 Je n'ai pas de colère (d'indignation). Qui me donnera des ronces et des épines qui m'attaquent (dans le combat) ? Je marcherai contre elles, je les consumerai (aussi) toutes ensemble. (?) | 4 Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together. |
| 5 Est-ce qu'elles pourront retenir (Ou plutôt retiendra-t-il) ma puissance ? Qu'elles fassent (Fera-t-il) la paix avec moi ; qu'elles fassent (fera-t-il) la paix avec moi. (?) | 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me. |
| 6 Qui que ce soit qui se précipite sur Jacob, Israël fleurira et germera (pour eux), et ils rempliront de fruit (semence) la face du monde. | 6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. |
| 7 Est-ce que Dieu (le Seigneur) l'a frappé (d'une plaie semblable) comme il a frappé ses tyrans (à celle dont l'a frappé l'ennemi) ? et le massacre de ceux qu'il a tués a-t-il égalé celui des persécuteurs (ou Israël a-t-il été tué, comme le Seigneur a tué ceux qu'il a tués à l'ennemi) ? | 7 Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him? |
| 8 Lors même qu'Israël (elle) sera rejeté(e), vous le (la) jugerez avec modération et avec (mesure contre) mesure ; il méditera, dans son esprit irrité, au jour de sa colère brûlante. | 8 In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind. |
| 9 C'est pour cela que (pourquoi de cette manière) l'iniquité de la maison de Jacob sera remise, et tout le fruit (de ce châtiment) sera l'expiation de son péché, lorsqu'Israël aura brisé toutes les pierres de l'autel, comme des pierres réduites en cendres (de chaux), et qu'il n'y aura plus de bois sacrés ni de temples. | 9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up. |
| 10 Car la ville forte sera désolée ; la ville (si) belle (ville) sera dépeuplée (délaissée), et elle sera abandonnée comme un désert ; là paîtra le veau et il s'y reposera, et il broutera les herbes (sommités de ses rameaux). | 10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof. |
| 11 Leurs moissons desséchées seront foulées aux pieds. Des femmes viendront les instruire, car ce peuple n'a pas de sagesse ; c'est pourquoi celui qui l'a fait n'en aura pas pitié, et celui qui l'a formé ne l'épargnera pas. | 11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour. |
| 12 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur frappera depuis le lit du fleuve jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte ; et vous serez rassemblés un à un, fils d'Israël. | 12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. |
| 13 En ce jour-là, on sonnera de la (d'une) grande trompette, et alors reviendront ceux qui étaient perdus dans le pays des Assyriens, et ceux qui avaient été bannis dans (jetés sur) le pays d'Egypte, et ils adoreront le Seigneur sur la montagne sainte, à Jérusalem. | 13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem. |
