| 1 Que la charité fraternelle demeure parmi vous. | 1 Let the charity of the brotherhood abide in you. |
| 2 N'oubliez pas l'hospitalité; car par elle quelques-uns ont reçu chez eux des Anges, sans le savoir. | 2 And hospitality do not forget; for by this some, being not aware of it, have entertained angels. |
| 3 Souvenez-vous des prisonniers, comme si vous étiez prisonniers avec eux; et de ceux qui sont affligés, comme étant aussi vous-mêmes dans un corps. | 3 Remember them that are in bands, as if you were bound with them; and them that labour, as being yourselves also in the body. |
| 4 Que le mariage soit honoré de tous, et que le lit nuptial soit sans tache; car Dieu jugera les fornicateurs et les adultères. | 4 Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
| 5 Que vos moeurs soient exemptes d'avarice, vous contentant de ce que vous avez; car Dieu lui-même a dit: Je ne te délaisserai pas, et Je ne t'abandonnerai pas; | 5 Let your manners be without covetousness, contented with such things as you have; for he hath said: I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee. |
| 6 de sorte que nous pouvons dire avec confiance: Le Seigneur est mon aide; je ne craindrai point ce que l'homme peut me faire. | 6 So that we may confidently say: The Lord is my helper: I will not fear what man shall do to me. |
| 7 Souvenez-vous de vos guides, qui vous ont prêché la parole de Dieu; considérant quelle a été la fin de leur vie, imitez leur foi. | 7 Remember your prelates who have spoken the word of God to you; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation, |
| 8 Jésus-Christ était hier, Il est aujourd'hui, et Il sera de même dans tous les siècles. | 8 Jesus Christ, yesterday, and to day; and the same for ever. |
| 9 Ne vous laissez pas entraîner par toutes sortes de doctrines étrangères. Car il est bon d'affermir son coeur par la grâce, non par des aliments, qui n'ont servi de rien à ceux qui en font leur règle de conduite. | 9 Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats; which have not profited those that walk in them. |
| 10 Nous avons un autel, dont ceux qui font le service dans le tabernacle n'ont pas le droit de manger. | 10 We have an altar, whereof they have no power to eat who serve the tabernacle. |
| 11 Car les corps des animaux dont le sang est porté par le pontife dans le sanctuaire pour le péché, sont brûlés hors du camp. | 11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the holies by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. |
| 12 C'est pour cela que Jésus aussi, afin de sanctifier le peuple par Son propre sang, a souffert hors de la porte. | 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate. |
| 13 Sortons donc hors du camp pour aller à Lui, en portant Son opprobre. | 13 Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach. |
| 14 Car nous n'avons point ici de cité permanente, mais nous cherchons celle qui est à venir. | 14 For we have not here a lasting city, but we seek one that is to come. |
| 15 Offrons donc par Lui sans cesse à Dieu un sacrifice de louange, c'est-à-dire, le fruit de lèvres qui confessent Son nom. | 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise always to God, that is to say, the fruit of lips confessing to his name. |
| 16 N'oubliez pas la bienfaisance et la libéralité; car c'est par de tels sacrifices que l'on se rend Dieu favorable. | 16 And do not forget to do good, and to impart; for by such sacrifices God's favour is obtained. |
| 17 Obéissez à vos guides et soyez-leur soumis; car ils veillent, comme devant rendre compte pour vos âmes; et il faut qu'ils le fassent avec joie, et non en gémissant; ce qui ne vous serait pas avantageux. | 17 Obey your prelates, and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you. |
| 18 Priez pour nous; car nous sommes certains d'avoir une bonne conscience, voulant en toutes choses nous bien conduire. | 18 Pray for us. For we trust we have a good conscience, being willing to behave ourselves well in all things. |
| 19 Et je vous conjure avec une nouvelle instance de le faire, afin que je vous sois plus tôt rendu. | 19 And I beseech you the more to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
| 20 Que le Dieu de la paix, qui a ramené d'entre les morts Celui qui, par le sang de l'alliance éternelle, est devenu le grand Pasteur des brebis, Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, | 20 And may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great pastor of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the blood of the everlasting testament, |
| 21 vous rende capables de tout bien, afin que vous fassiez Sa volonté, en opérant en vous ce qui Lui est agréable, par Jésus-Christ, auquel soit la gloire dans les siècles des siècles. Amen. | 21 Fit you in all goodness, that you may do his will; doing in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom is glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
| 22 Je vous prie, mes frères, de supporter cette parole de consolation, car je vous ai écrit en peu de mots. | 22 And I beseech you, brethren, that you suffer this word of consolation. For I have written to you in a few words. |
| 23 Sachez que notre frère Timothée a été mis en liberté; s'il vient bientôt, j'irai vous voir avec lui. | 23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty: with whom (if he come shortly) I will see you. |
| 24 Saluez tous ceux qui vous conduisent, et tous les saints. Les frères d'Italie vous saluent. | 24 Salute all your prelates, and all the saints. The brethren from Italy salute you. |
| 25 Que la grâce soit avec vous tous. Amen. | 25 Grace be with you all. Amen. |
