1 Tous les enfants d'Israël s'assemblèrent à Silo, et y dressèrent le tabernacle du témoignage; et le pays leur était soumis.	1 Then the whole congregation of the people of Israel assembled at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; the land lay subdued before them.
2 Or il était resté sept tribus des enfants d'Israël, qui n'avaient pas encore reçu leur héritage.	2 There remained among the people of Israel seven tribes whose inheritance had not yet been apportioned.
3 Josué leur dit donc: Jusqu'à quand demeurerez-vous lâches et paresseux, sans vous mettre en possession de la terre que le Seigneur, le Dieu de vos pères, vous a donnée?	3 So Joshua said to the people of Israel, "How long will you be slack to go in and take possession of the land, which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 Choisissez trois hommes de chaque tribu, afin que je les envoie, pour qu'ils aillent faire le tour du pays, et qu'ils en tracent le plan selon le nombre de ceux qui doivent la posséder, et qu'ils me rendent compte de ce plan.	4 Provide three men from each tribe, and I will send them out that they may set out and go up and down the land, writing a description of it with a view to their inheritances, and then come to me.
5 Divisez entre vous la terre en sept parts: que Juda demeure dans ses limites du côté du midi, et la maison de Joseph du côté du nord.	5 They shall divide it into seven portions, Judah continuing in his territory on the south, and the house of Joseph in their territory on the north.
6 Décrivez le reste de la terre qui n'est point à eux, et faites-en sept parts, et venez me trouver ici, afin que je jette pour vous le sort devant le Seigneur votre Dieu.	6 And you shall describe the land in seven divisions and bring the description here to me; and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.
7 Mais il n'y aura point de part au milieu de vous pour les lévites, car le sacerdoce du Seigneur est leur héritage. Quant à la tribu de Gad, à la tribu de Ruben, et à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé, elles ont déjà reçu les terres qu'elles devaient posséder au delà du Jourdain à l'orient, Moïse, serviteur du Seigneur, les leur ayant données.	7 The Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the LORD is their heritage; and Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them."
8 Ces hommes se préparant donc à partir pour aller faire la description de tout le pays, Josué leur donna cet ordre: Faites le tour et la description de la contrée, et revenez me trouver, afin que je jette ici à Silo le sort pour vous devant le Seigneur.	8 So the men started on their way; and Joshua charged those who went to write the description of the land, saying, "Go up and down and write a description of the land, and come again to me; and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD in Shiloh."
9 Etant partis, ils reconnurent avec soin la contrée, et la divisèrent en sept parts, qu'ils écrivirent dans un livre; et ils revinrent au camp à Silo trouver Josué,	9 So the men went and passed up and down in the land and set down in a book a description of it by towns in seven divisions; then they came to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh,
10 lequel jeta le sort devant le Seigneur à Silo, et divisa la contrée en sept parts pour les enfants d'Israël.	10 and Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD; and there Joshua apportioned the land to the people of Israel, to each his portion.
11 Le premier lot qui sortit fut celui des enfants de Benjamin selon leurs familles, qui eurent pour leur part le pays situé entre les enfants de Juda et les enfants de Joseph.	11 The lot of the tribe of Benjamin according to its families came up, and the territory allotted to it fell between the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Joseph.
12 Leur frontière vers le septentrion est le bord du Jourdain, d'où elle s'étend au nord de Jéricho. De là elle monte sur les côtes des montagnes vers l'occident, et vient jusqu'au désert de Béthaven.	12 On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan; then the boundary goes up to the shoulder north of Jericho, then up through the hill country westward; and it ends at the wilderness of Beth-aven.
13 Elle passe ensuite vers le midi le long de Luza, qui s'appelle aussi Béthel. Elle descend à Atarothaddar, près de la montagne qui est au midi de Béthoron inférieur;	13 From there the boundary passes along southward in the direction of Luz, to the shoulder of Luz (the same is Bethel), then the boundary goes down to Ataroth-addar, upon the mountain that lies south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 puis elle tourne en descendant vers la mer, au midi de la montagne qui regarde Béthoron du côté du midi, et elle se termine à Cariathbaal, qui s'appelle aussi Cariathiarim, ville des enfants de Juda. C'est là son étendue vers la mer du côté de l'occident.	14 Then the boundary goes in another direction, turning on the western side southward from the mountain that lies to the south, opposite Beth-horon, and it ends at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city belonging to the tribe of Judah. This forms the western side.
15 Du côté du midi sa frontière s'étend depuis Cariathiarim vers la mer, et vient jusqu'à la fontaine des eaux de Nephtoa.	15 And the southern side begins at the outskirts of Kiriath-jearim; and the boundary goes from there to Ephron, to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah;
16 Elle descend jusqu'à la partie de la montagne qui regarde la vallée des enfants d'Ennom, et qui est du côté du septentrion, à l'extrémité de la vallée des Géants. Elle descend vers Géennom, c'est-à-dire vers la vallée d'Ennon, au côté des Jébuséens au midi, et elle vient jusqu'à la fontaine de Rogel.	16 then the boundary goes down to the border of the mountain that overlooks the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is at the north end of the valley of Rephaim; and it then goes down the valley of Hinnom, south of the shoulder of the Jebusites, and downward to En-rogel;
17 Elle passe vers le septentrion, s'étend jusqu'à Ensémès, c'est-à-dire la fontaine du Soleil.	17 then it bends in a northerly direction going on to En-shemesh, and thence goes to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim; then it goes down to the Stone of Bohan the son of Reuben;
18 Elle passe jusqu'aux terres élevées qui sont vis-à-vis de la montée d'Adommim. Elle descend jusqu'à Abenboën, c'est-à-dire la pierre de Boën, fils de Ruben, et elle passe du côté du septentrion jusqu'aux campagnes, et descend dans la plaine.	18 and passing on to the north of the shoulder of Beth-arabah it goes down to the Arabah;
19 Elle s'étend vers le septentrion au delà de Beth-Hagla, et elle se termine à la pointe septentrionale de la mer Salée, vers l'embouchure du Jourdain au midi.	19 then the boundary passes on to the north of the shoulder of Beth-hoglah; and the boundary ends at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan: this is the southern border.
20 Ce fleuve sert de limite du côté de l'orient. Ce sont là les limites et l'étendue de l'héritage des enfants de Benjamin, selon leurs familles.	20 The Jordan forms its boundary on the eastern side. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin, according to its families, boundary by boundary round about.
21 Ses villes sont Jéricho, Beth-Hagla, la vallée de Casis,	21 Now the cities of the tribe of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,
22 Bétharaba, Samaraïm, Béthel,	22 Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 Avim, Aphara, Ophéra,	23 Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 la ville d'Emona, Ophni et Gabée: douze villes avec leurs villages.	24 Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, Geba--twelve cities with their villages:
25 Gabaon, Rama, Béroth,	25 Gibeon, Ramah, Be-eroth,
26 Mesphé, Caphara, Amosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah,
27 Récem, Jaréphel, Tharéla,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 Séla, Eleph, Jébus, qui est la même que Jérusalem, Gabaath et Cariath: quatrorze villes avec leurs villages. C'est là ce que possèdent les enfants de Benjamin selon leurs familles.	28 Zela, Ha-eleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibe-ah and Kiriath-jearim--fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin according to its families.
