| 1 Josias fit ensuite célébrer à Jérusalem la Pâque du Seigneur, et elle fut immolée le quatorzième jour du premier mois. | 1 Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. |
| 2 Il établit les prêtres dans leurs fonctions, et les exhorta de servir dans la maison du Seigneur. | 2 And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD, |
| 3 Il parla aussi aux lévites, par les instructions desquelles tout Israël était sanctifié au Seigneur : Remettez l'arche dans le sanctuaire du temple que Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël, a fait bâtir; car vous ne la porterez plus. Et maintenant servez le Seigneur votre Dieu, et Son peuple Israël. | 3 And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel, |
| 4 Préparez-vous donc par maisons et par familles, selon la distribution de chacun de vous, ainsi que l'a ordonné David, roi d'Israël, et que l'a écrit Salomon son fils. | 4 And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son. |
| 5 Et servez dans le sanctuaire par familles et par groupes lévitiques. | 5 And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites. |
| 6 Après avoir été sanctifiés, immolez la Pâque, et disposez aussi vos frères à pouvoir faire ce que le Seigneur a commandé par le ministère de Moïse. | 6 So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses. |
| 7 Josias donna à tout le peuple qui se trouva là pour la solennité de la Pâque, des agneaux et des chevreaux de ses troupeaux, et du reste de son bétail, jusqu'à trente mille, et trois mille boeufs. Tous ces animaux étaient de son propre bien. | 7 And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance. |
| 8 Ses chefs offrirent aussi ce qu'ils avaient promis, tant au peuple qu'aux prêtres et aux lévites. En outre, Helcias, Zacharie et Jahiel, princes de la maison du Seigneur, donnèrent aux prêtres, pour célébrer cette Pâque, deux mille six cents bêtes de menu bétail, avec trois cents boeufs. | 8 And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen. |
| 9 Chonénias, avec Séméias et Nathanaël, ses frères, comme aussi Hasabias, et Jéhiel, et Jozabad, chefs des lévites, donnèrent aux autres lévites, pour célébrer la Pâque, cinq mille menues bêtes et cinq cents boeufs. | 9 Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen. |
| 10 Après que tout fut préparé pour ce ministère, les prêtres se rendirent à leurs fonctions, et les lévites aussi, par classes, selon le commandement du roi. | 10 So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king's commandment. |
| 11 On immola donc la Pâque, et les prêtres en répandirent eux-mêmes le sang, et les lévites écorchèrent les victimes des holocaustes; | 11 And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them. |
| 12 et ils les séparèrent, pour les distribuer par maisons et par familles, et pour les offrir au Seigneur, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de Moïse; et ils firent la même chose pour les boeufs. | 12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen. |
| 13 Ensuite ils firent rôtir la Pâque sur le feu, comme il est écrit dans la loi; ils firent cuire les victimes pacifiques dans des marmites, des chaudrons et des pots, et les distribuèrent promptement à tout le peuple. | 13 And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people. |
| 14 Après quoi ils en préparèrent pour eux et pour les prêtres : car les prêtres furent occupés jusqu'à la nuit à offrir les holocaustes et les graisses; ce qui fut cause que les lévites n'en purent préparer pour eux, et pour les prêtres, fils d'Aaron, qu'en dernier lieu. | 14 And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron. |
| 15 Les chantres, fils d'Asaph, étaient aussi à leur rang, selon l'ordre de David et d'Asaph, d'Héman et d'Idithun, prophètes du roi. Les portiers gardaient toutes les portes, sans s'éloigner un seul moment de leur office : c'est pourquoi les lévites leurs frères leur préparèrent leurs mets sacrés. | 15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them. |
| 16 Tout le culte du Seigneur fut donc exactement accompli ce jour-là dans la célébration de la Pâque et dans l'oblation des holocaustes sur l'autel du Seigneur, selon que le roi Josias l'avait ordonné. | 16 So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Josiah. |
| 17 Et les fils d'Israêl qui se trouvèrent là firent la Pâque en ce temps, et célébrèrent les Azymes durant sept jours. | 17 And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days. |
| 18 Il n'y eut point de Pâque semblable à celle-ci dans Israël, depuis le temps du prophète Samuel; et aucun de tous les rois d'Israël n'a fait une Pâque comme celle que Josias fit avec les prêtres, les lévites, tout le peuple de Juda et ce qui se trouva d'Israël, et les habitants de Jérusalem. | 18 And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 19 Cette Pâque fut célébrée la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias. | 19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept. |
| 20 Après que Josias eut réparé le temple, Néchao, roi d'Egypte, alla porter la guerre à Charcamis, sur l'Euphrate; et Josias marcha à sa rencontre. | 20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him. |
| 21 Mais Néchao lui envoya des messagers, qui lui dirent : Qu'avez-vous à démêler avec moi, roi de Juda? Ce n'est pas contre vous que je viens aujourd'hui; mais je viens faire la guerre à une autre maison, contre laquelle Dieu m'a commandé de marcher promptement. Cessez donc de vous opposer à Dieu, qui est avec moi, de peur qu'il ne vous tue. | 21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. |
| 22 Josias ne voulut pas s'en retourner; mais il se prépara à le combattre, et il ne se rendit point à ce que lui avait dit Néchao de la part de Dieu; mais il s'avança pour lui livrer bataille dans la plaine de Mageddo. | 22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. |
| 23 Et là il fut blessé par des archers, et il dit à ses gens : Retirez-moi de la mêlée, car je suis grièvement blessé. | 23 And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded. |
| 24 Ils le transportèrent de son char dans un autre char qui le suivait, selon la coutume des rois, et ils le portèrent à Jérusalem. Il mourut, et fut enseveli dans le tombeau de ses pères, et tout Juda et Jérusalem le pleurèrent, | 24 His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah. |
| 25 particulièrement Jérémie, dont les Lamentations sur Josias se chantent jusqu'à ce jour par les musiciens et par les musiciennes; et c'est ce qui a passé comme une loi dans Israël. On les trouve écrites parmi les Lamentations. | 25 And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations. |
| 26 Le reste des actions de Josias et toutes ses bonnes oeuvres, conformes à ce qui est ordonné par la loi de Dieu, | 26 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD, |
| 27 et tout ce qu'il a fait au commencement et à la fin de son règne, tout cela est écrit dans le livre des rois de Juda et d'Israël. | 27 And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. |
