CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINGREEK BIBLE
In many places and in many ways, in past times, God spoke to the fathers through the Prophets;1 Ο Θεος, αφου ελαλησε το παλαι προς τους πατερας ημων δια των προφητων πολλακις και πολυτροπως,
lastly, in these days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed as the heir of all things, and through whom he made the world.2 εν ταις εσχαταις ταυταις ημεραις ελαλησε προς ημας δια του Υιου, τον οποιον εθεσε κληρονομον παντων, δι' ου εκαμε και τους αιωνας?
And since the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and is carrying all things by the Word of his virtue, thereby accomplishing a purging of sins, he sits at the right hand of Majesty on high.3 οστις ων απαυγασμα της δοξης και χαρακτηρ της υποστασεως αυτου, και βασταζων τα παντα με τον λογον της δυναμεως αυτου, αφου δι' εαυτου εκαμε καθαρισμον των αμαρτιων ημων, εκαθησεν εν δεξια της μεγαλωσυνης εν υψηλοις,
And having been made so much better than the Angels, he has inherited a name so much greater than theirs.4 τοσουτον ανωτερος των αγγελων γενομενος, οσον εξοχωτερον υπερ αυτους ονομα εκληρονομησε.
For to which of the Angels has he ever said: “You are my Son; today have I begotten you?” Or again: “I will be a Father to him, and he shall be a Son to me?”5 Διοτι προς τινα των αγγελων ειπε ποτε? Υιος μου εισαι συ, Εγω σημερον σε εγεννησα; και παλιν? Εγω θελω εισθαι εις αυτον Πατηρ, και αυτος θελει εισθαι εις εμε Υιος;
And again, when he brings the only-begotten Son into the world, he says: “And let all the Angels of God adore him.”6 Οταν δε παλιν εισαγαγη τον πρωτοτοκον εις την οικουμενην, λεγει?
And about the Angels, certainly, he says: “He makes his Angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”7 Και περι μεν των αγγελων λεγει?
But about the Son: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.8 περι δε του Υιου? Ο θρονος σου, ω Θεε, ειναι εις τον αιωνα του αιωνος? σκηπτρον ευθυτητος ειναι το σκηπτρον της βασιλειας σου.
You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”9 Ηγαπησας δικαιοσυνην και εμισησας ανομιαν?
And: “In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.10 και? Συ κατ' αρχας, Κυριε, την γην εθεμελιωσας, και εργα των χειρων σου ειναι οι ουρανοι?
These shall pass away, but you will remain. And all will grow old like a garment.11 αυτοι θελουσιν απολεσθη, συ δε διαμενεις?
And you will change them like a cloak, and they shall be changed. Yet you are ever the same, and your years will not diminish.”12 και ως περιενδυμα θελεις τυλιξει αυτους, και θελουσιν αλλαχθη?
But to which of the Angels has he ever said: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?”13 Προς τινα δε των αγγελων ειπε ποτε? Καθου εκ δεξιων μου, εωσου θεσω τους εχθρους σου υποποδιον των ποδων σου;
Are they not all spirits of ministration, sent to minister for the sake of those who shall receive the inheritance of salvation?14 Δεν ειναι παντες λειτουργικα πνευματα εις υπηρεσιαν αποστελλομενα δια τους μελλοντας να κληρονομησωσι σωτηριαν;
