1 In many places and in many ways, in past times, God spoke to the fathers through the Prophets;	1 Dio, che molte volte e in diversi modi nei tempi antichi aveva parlato ai padri per mezzo dei profeti,
2 lastly, in these days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed as the heir of all things, and through whom he made the world.	2 ultimamente, in questi giorni, ha parlato a noi per mezzo del Figlio, che ha stabilito erede di tutte le cose e mediante il quale ha fatto anche il mondo.
3 And since the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and is carrying all things by the Word of his virtue, thereby accomplishing a purging of sins, he sits at the right hand of Majesty on high.	3 Egli è irradiazione della sua gloria e impronta della sua sostanza, e tutto sostiene con la sua parola potente. Dopo aver compiuto la purificazione dei peccati, sedette alla destra della maestà nell’alto dei cieli,
4 And having been made so much better than the Angels, he has inherited a name so much greater than theirs.	4 divenuto tanto superiore agli angeli quanto più eccellente del loro è il nome che ha ereditato.
5 For to which of the Angels has he ever said: “You are my Son; today have I begotten you?” Or again: “I will be a Father to him, and he shall be a Son to me?”	5 Infatti, a quale degli angeli Dio ha mai detto: Tu sei mio figlio, oggi ti ho generato? E ancora: Io sarò per lui padre ed egli sarà per me figlio?
6 And again, when he brings the only-begotten Son into the world, he says: “And let all the Angels of God adore him.”	6 Quando invece introduce il primogenito nel mondo, dice: Lo adorino tutti gli angeli di Dio.
7 And about the Angels, certainly, he says: “He makes his Angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”	7 Mentre degli angeli dice: Egli fa i suoi angeli simili al vento, e i suoi ministri come fiamma di fuoco,
8 But about the Son: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.	8 al Figlio invece dice: Il tuo trono, Dio, sta nei secoli dei secoli; e: Lo scettro del tuo regno è scettro di equità;
9 You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”	9 hai amato la giustizia e odiato l’iniquità, perciò Dio, il tuo Dio, ti ha consacrato con olio di esultanza, a preferenza dei tuoi compagni.
10 And: “In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.	10 E ancora: In principio tu, Signore, hai fondato la terra e i cieli sono opera delle tue mani.
11 These shall pass away, but you will remain. And all will grow old like a garment.	11 Essi periranno, ma tu rimani; tutti si logoreranno come un vestito.
12 And you will change them like a cloak, and they shall be changed. Yet you are ever the same, and your years will not diminish.”	12 Come un mantello li avvolgerai, come un vestito anch’essi saranno cambiati; ma tu rimani lo stesso e i tuoi anni non avranno fine.
13 But to which of the Angels has he ever said: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?”	13 E a quale degli angeli poi ha mai detto: Siedi alla mia destra, finché io non abbia messo i tuoi nemici a sgabello dei tuoi piedi?
14 Are they not all spirits of ministration, sent to minister for the sake of those who shall receive the inheritance of salvation?	14 Non sono forse tutti spiriti incaricati di un ministero, inviati a servire coloro che erediteranno la salvezza?
