2 Chronicles 11

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 On his arrival in Jerusalem Rehoboam gathered together the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand seasoned warriors, to have them fight against Israel and restore the kingdom to him.	1 Roboam llegó a Jerusalén y convocó a la casa de Judá y a Benjamín –ciento ochenta mil guerreros adiestrados– para ir a combatir contra Israel y recuperar el reino.
2 However, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, a man of God:	2 Pero la palabra del Señor llegó a Semaías, un hombre de Dios, en estos términos:
3 "Say to Rehoboam, son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin:	3 «Di a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a toda la gente de Israel que está en Judá y en Benjamín:
4 'Thus says the LORD: You must not march out to fight against your brothers. Let every man return home, for what has occurred I have brought about.'" They obeyed this message of the LORD and gave up the expedition against Jeroboam.	4 Así habla el Señor: No suban a combatir contra sus hermanos; que cada uno vuelva a su casa, porque esto ha sucedido por disposición mía». Ellos escucharon las palabras del Señor y desistieron de su campaña contra Jeroboam.
5 Rehoboam took up residence in Jerusalem and built fortified cities in Judah.	5 Roboam habitó en Jerusalén y construyó ciudades fortificadas en Judá.
6 He built up Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,	6 Reconstruyó Belén, Etam, Técoa,
7 Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam,	7 Betsur, Socó, Adulam,
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,	8 Gat, Maresá, Zif,
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,	9 Adoraim, Laquis, Azecá,
10 Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron; these were fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.	10 Sorá, Aialón y Hebrón, ciudades fortificadas que están en Judá y en Benjamín.
11 Then he strengthened the fortifications and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, oil and wine.	11 El reforzó sus fortificaciones y puso en ellas comandantes y depósitos de víveres, aceite y vino.
12 In every city were shields and spears, and he made them very strong. Thus Judah and Benjamin remained his.	12 En cada ciudad había escudos y lanzas. El rey las hizo extremadamente fuertes, y así le estuvieron sometidos Judá y Benjamín.
13 Now the priests and Levites throughout Israel presented themselves to him from all parts of their land,	13 Los sacerdotes y levitas de todo Israel acudían desde sus territorios para plegarse a Roboam.
14 for the Levites left their assigned pasture lands and their holdings and came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons repudiated them as priests of the LORD.	14 En efecto, los levitas abandonaron sus campos de pastoreo y sus posesiones y se fueron a Judá y a Jerusalén, porque Jeroboam y sus hijos les impedían ejercer el sacerdocio del Señor,
15 In their place, he himself appointed priests for the high places and satyrs and calves he had made.	15 al instituir por su cuenta sacerdotes para los lugares altos, para los sátiros y para los terneros que él había fabricado.
16 After them, all those of the Israelite tribes who firmly desired to seek the LORD, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.	16 Gente de todas las tribus de Israel, que buscaba de todo corazón al Señor, el Dios de Israel, fue detrás de ellos a Jerusalén, para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
17 Thus they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam, son of Solomon, prevail for three years; for they walked in the way of David and Solomon three years.	17 Así fortalecieron el reino de Judá y durante tres años, consolidaron a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, ya que durante tres años se siguió el camino de David y Salomón.
18 Rehoboam took to himself as wife Mahalath, daughter of Jerimoth, son of David and of Abihail, daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.	18 Roboam tomó por esposa a Majalat, hija de Ierimot, hijo de David y de Abijáil, hijo de Eliab, hijo de Jesé.
19 She bore him sons: Jehush, Shemariah and Zaham.	19 Ella le dio varios hijos: Ieús, Semarías y Zaham.
20 After her, he married Maacah, daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.	20 Después tomó a Maacá, hija de Absalón, de la que le nacieron Abías, Atai, Zizá y Selomit.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah, daughter of Absalom, more than all his other wives and concubines; he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.	21 Roboam amó a Maacá, hija de Absalón, más que a todas sus mujeres y concubinas, ya que tuvo dieciocho mujeres y sesenta concubinas, y fue padre de veintiocho hijos y de sesenta hijas.
22 Rehoboam constituted Abijah, son of Maacah, commander among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.	22 Roboam puso al frente de sus hermanos a Abías, hijo de Maacá, constituyéndolo príncipe heredero, porque quería hacerlo rey.
23 He acted prudently, distributing various of his sons throughout all the districts of Judah and Benjamin, in all the fortified cities; and he furnished them with copious provisions and sought an abundance of wives for them.	23 Además, supo distribuir hábilmente a sus hijos por todas las regiones de Judá y de Benjamín, en todas las ciudades fortificadas, dándoles gran cantidad de víveres y procurándoles muchas mujeres.
