ΠΑΡΟΙΜΙΑΙ - Proverbi - Proverbs 1

LXX	NEW JERUSALEM
1 παροιμιαι σαλωμωντος υιου δαυιδ ος εβασιλευσεν εν ισραηλ	1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
2 γνωναι σοφιαν και παιδειαν νοησαι τε λογους φρονησεως	2 for learning what wisdom and discipline are, for understanding words of deep meaning,
3 δεξασθαι τε στροφας λογων νοησαι τε δικαιοσυνην αληθη και κριμα κατευθυνειν	3 for acquiring a disciplined insight, uprightness, justice and fair dealing;
4 ινα δω ακακοις πανουργιαν παιδι δε νεω αισθησιν τε και εννοιαν	4 for teaching sound judgement to the simple, and knowledge and reflection to the young;
5 τωνδε γαρ ακουσας σοφος σοφωτερος εσται ο δε νοημων κυβερνησιν κτησεται	5 Let the wise listen and learn yet more, and a person of discernment wil acquire the art of guidance.
6 νοησει τε παραβολην και σκοτεινον λογον ρησεις τε σοφων και αινιγματα	6 for perceiving the meaning of proverbs and obscure sayings, the sayings of the sages and their riddles.
7 αρχη σοφιας φοβος θεου συνεσις δε αγαθη πασι τοις ποιουσιν αυτην ευσεβεια δε εις θεον αρχη αισθησεως σοφιαν δε και παιδειαν ασεβεις εξουθενησουσιν	7 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; fools spurn wisdom and discipline.
8 ακουε υιε παιδειαν πατρος σου και μη απωση θεσμους μητρος σου	8 Listen, my child, to your father's instruction, do not reject your mother's teaching:
9 στεφανον γαρ χαριτων δεξη ση κορυφη και κλοιον χρυσεον περι σω τραχηλω	9 they wil be a crown of grace for your head, a circlet for your neck.
10 υιε μη σε πλανησωσιν ανδρες ασεβεις μηδε βουληθης εαν παρακαλεσωσι σε λεγοντες	10 My child, if sinners try to seduce you, do not go with them.
11 ελθε μεθ' ημων κοινωνησον αιματος κρυψωμεν δε εις γην ανδρα δικαιον αδικως	11 If they say, 'Come with us: let us lie in ambush to shed blood; if we plan an ambush for the innocentwithout provocation,
12 καταπιωμεν δε αυτον ωσπερ αδης ζωντα και αρωμεν αυτου την μνημην εκ γης	12 we can swal ow them alive, like Sheol, and whole, like those who sink into oblivion.
13 την κτησιν αυτου την πολυτελη καταλαβωμεθα πλησωμεν δε οικους ημετερους σκυλων	13 We shal find treasures of every sort, we shall fil our houses with plunder;
14 τον δε σον κληρον βαλε εν ημιν κοινον δε βαλλαντιον κτησωμεθα παντες και μαρσιππιον εν γενηθητω ημιν	14 throw in your lot with us: one purse between us al .'
15 μη πορευθης εν οδω μετ' αυτων εκκλινον δε τον ποδα σου εκ των τριβων αυτων	15 My child, do not fol ow them in their way, keep your steps out of their path
16 οι γαρ ποδες αυτων εις κακιαν τρεχουσιν και ταχινοι του εκχεαι αιμα	16 for their feet hasten to evil, they are quick to shed blood;
17 ου γαρ αδικως εκτεινεται δικτυα πτερωτοις	17 for the net is spread in vain if any winged creature can see it.
18 αυτοι γαρ οι φονου μετεχοντες θησαυριζουσιν εαυτοις κακα η δε καταστροφη ανδρων παρανομων κακη	18 It is for their own blood such people lie in wait, their ambush is against their own selves!
19 αυται αι οδοι εισιν παντων των συντελουντων τα ανομα τη γαρ ασεβεια την εαυτων ψυχην αφαιρουνται	19 Such are the paths of al who seek dishonest gain: which robs of their lives al who take it for their own.
20 σοφια εν εξοδοις υμνειται εν δε πλατειαις παρρησιαν αγει	20 Wisdom cal s aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in the public squares;
21 επ' ακρων δε τειχεων κηρυσσεται επι δε πυλαις δυναστων παρεδρευει επι δε πυλαις πολεως θαρρουσα λεγει	21 she cal s out at the street corners, she delivers her message at the city gates.
22 οσον αν χρονον ακακοι εχωνται της δικαιοσυνης ουκ αισχυνθησονται οι δε αφρονες της υβρεως οντες επιθυμηται ασεβεις γενομενοι εμισησαν αισθησιν	22 'You simple people, how much longer will you cling to your simple ways? How much longer willmockers revel in their mocking and fools go on hating knowledge?
23 και υπευθυνοι εγενοντο ελεγχοις ιδου προησομαι υμιν εμης πνοης ρησιν διδαξω δε υμας τον εμον λογον	23 Pay attention to my warning. To you I wil pour out my heart and tel you what I have to say.
24 επειδη εκαλουν και ουχ υπηκουσατε και εξετεινον λογους και ου προσειχετε	24 Since I have cal ed and you have refused me, since I have beckoned and no one has taken notice,
25 αλλα ακυρους εποιειτε εμας βουλας τοις δε εμοις ελεγχοις ηπειθησατε	25 since you have ignored al my advice and rejected al my warnings,
26 τοιγαρουν καγω τη υμετερα απωλεια επιγελασομαι καταχαρουμαι δε ηνικα αν ερχηται υμιν ολεθρος	26 I, for my part, shall laugh at your distress, I shal jeer when terror befal s you,
27 και ως αν αφικηται υμιν αφνω θορυβος η δε καταστροφη ομοιως καταιγιδι παρη και οταν ερχηται υμιν θλιψις και πολιορκια η οταν ερχηται υμιν ολεθρος	27 when terror befal s you, like a storm, when your distress arrives, like a whirlwind, when ordeal andanguish bear down on you.
28 εσται γαρ οταν επικαλεσησθε με εγω δε ουκ εισακουσομαι υμων ζητησουσιν με κακοι και ουχ ευρησουσιν	28 Then they will cal me, but I shal not answer, they wil look eagerly for me and will not find me.
29 εμισησαν γαρ σοφιαν τον δε φοβον του κυριου ου προειλαντο	29 They have hated knowledge, they have not chosen the fear of Yahweh,
30 ουδε ηθελον εμαις προσεχειν βουλαις εμυκτηριζον δε εμους ελεγχους	30 they have taken no notice of my advice, they have spurned al my warnings:
31 τοιγαρουν εδονται της εαυτων οδου τους καρπους και της εαυτων ασεβειας πλησθησονται	31 so they wil have to eat the fruits of their own ways of life, and choke themselves with their ownscheming.
32 ανθ' ων γαρ ηδικουν νηπιους φονευθησονται και εξετασμος ασεβεις ολει	32 For the errors of the simple lead to their death, the complacency of fools works their own ruin;
33 ο δε εμου ακουων κατασκηνωσει επ' ελπιδι και ησυχασει αφοβως απο παντος κακου	33 but whoever listens to me may live secure, will have quiet, fearing no mischance.'
