1 Guardandosi attorno, vide alcuni ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nelle cassette del tempio.	1 He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury;
2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettava due monetine.	2 and he saw a poor widow put in two copper coins.
3 Allora disse: "In verità vi dico: questa vedova, povera com'è, ha offerto più di tutti gli altri.	3 And he said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them;
4 Tutti costoro infatti hanno dato come offerta parte del loro superfluo, questa donna invece ha dato, nella sua miseria, tutto il necessario per vivere".	4 for they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all the living that she had."
5 Siccome alcuni parlavano del tempio e dicevano che era molto bello per le pietre e per i doni votivi che lo adornavano, egli disse:	5 And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said,
6 "Verranno giorni in cui tutto quello che ammirate sarà distrutto e non rimarrà pietra su pietra".	6 "As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."
7 Ora, lo interrogavano: "Maestro, quando accadrà questo e quale sarà il segno che ciò sta per compiersi?".	7 And they asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign when this is about to take place?"
8 Gesù rispose: "Fate attenzione a non essere ingannati. Perché molti verranno e si presenteranno con il mio nome dicendo: "Sono io", e: "Il tempo è vicino". Voi però non seguiteli.	8 And he said, "Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and, 'The time is at hand!' Do not go after them.
9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non abbiate paura. Devono infatti succedere prima queste cose, ma non significa che subito dopo ci sarà la fine".	9 And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the end will not be at once."
10 Allora diceva loro: "Un popolo si solleverà contro un altro popolo e un regno contro un altro regno.	10 Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom;
11 Ci saranno dappertutto terremoti, carestie e pestilenze: vi saranno anche fenomeni spaventosi e segni grandiosi dal cielo.	11 there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.
12 Ma prima di tutto ciò vi prenderanno con violenza e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti ai loro re e ai loro governatori, a causa del mio nome.	12 But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake.
13 Allora avrete occasione di dare testimonianza.	13 This will be a time for you to bear testimony.
14 Ritenete per sicuro che non vi dovete preoccupare di quello che direte per difendervi;	14 Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer;
15 io stesso vi darò linguaggio e sapienza, così che i vostri avversari non potranno resistere né controbattere.	15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.
16 Sarete consegnati persino dai genitori e dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e molti di voi saranno uccisi;	16 You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and some of you they will put to death;
17 sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome.	17 you will be hated by all for my name's sake.
18 Eppure, nemmeno un capello del vostro capo andrà perduto.	18 But not a hair of your head will perish.
19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete le vostre anime.	19 By your endurance you will gain your lives.
20 Ora, quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, ricordate allora che la sua desolazione è vicina.	20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.
21 Allora quelli che sono nella Giudea fuggano sui monti, quelli che si trovano in città se ne allontanino e quelli che sono in campagna non tornino in città;	21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it;
22 poiché questi sono giorni di vendetta, affinché si compia tutto ciò che è stato scritto.	22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written.
23 Guai alle donne incinte e a quelle che allattano in quei giorni; vi sarà infatti grande tribolazione nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.	23 Alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! For great distress shall be upon the earth and wrath upon this people;
24 E cadranno a fil di spada e saranno portati via come schiavi tra tutti i popoli; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani, finché saranno compiuti i tempi dei pagani.	24 they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25 Ci saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle; e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in preda allo smarrimento per il fragore del mare e dei flutti.	25 "And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,
26 Gli uomini verranno meno per il timore e per l'attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. Infatti le forze dei cieli saranno sconvolte.	26 men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 Allora vedranno il Figlio dell'uomo venire sopra una nube con grande potenza e splendore.	27 And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 Quando queste cose cominceranno ad accadere, drizzatevi e alzate la testa, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina".	28 Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
29 Poi disse loro una parabola: "Guardate l'albero del fico e tutti gli altri alberi.	29 And he told them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 Quando vedete che cominciano a germogliare, voi capite che l'estate è ormai vicina.	30 as soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near.
31 Così pure, quando vedrete compiersi queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.	31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 In verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione prima che tutto questo avvenga.	32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all has taken place.
33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.	33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
34 State bene attenti che i vostri cuori non si intontiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e preoccupazioni materiali, e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso all'improvviso;	34 "But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare;
35 come un laccio esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che popolano la faccia della terra.	35 for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth.
36 Vegliate e pregate in ogni momento, per avere la forza di sfuggire a tutti questi mali che stanno per accadere e per comparire davanti al Figlio dell'uomo".	36 But watch at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of man."
37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio, di notte usciva e se ne stava all'aperto sul monte degli Ulivi.	37 And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet.
38 Ma già di buon mattino tutto il popolo andava nel tempio per ascoltarlo.	38 And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.
