1 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems upon its horns and a blasphemous name upon its heads.	1 Entonces vi que emergía del mar una Bestia con siete cabezas y diez cuernos. En cada cuerno tenía una diadema, y sobre sus cabezas había leyendas con nombres blasfemos.
2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, its feet were like a bears, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority.	2 Parecía una pantera, pero tenía las patas como las de un oso y la boca como la de un león. El Dragón le cedió su poder y su trono con un inmenso imperio.
3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth followed the beast with wonder.	3 Una de sus cabezas parecía herida de muerte, pero su llaga mortal ya estaba cicatrizada. Toda la tierra, maravillada, siguió a la Bestia,
4 Men worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?"	4 y todos adoraron al Dragón porque él le había cedido el poder, y también adoraron a la Bestia, diciendo: «¿Quién se le puede igualar y quién puede luchar contra ella?».
5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months;	5 Y se permitió a la Bestia proferir palabras altaneras y blasfemias; y se le dio poder para actuar durante cuarenta y dos meses.
6 it opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.	6 Ella abrió la boca para maldecir a Dios y blasfemar contra su Nombre y su Santuario, y contra los habitantes del cielo.
7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation,	7 También le fue permitido combatir contra los santos hasta vencerlos, y se le dio poder sobre toda familia, pueblo, lengua y nación.
8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.	8 Y la adoraron todos los habitantes de la tierra cuyos nombres no figuran, desde la creación del mundo, en el Libro de la Vida del Cordero que ha sido inmolado.
9 If any one has an ear, let him hear:	9 ¡El que pueda entender, que entienda!
10 If any one is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if any one slays with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.	10 El que tenga que ir a la cárcel, irá a la cárcel; y el que tenga que morir por la espada, morirá por la espada. En esto se pondrá a prueba la perseverancia y la fe de los santos.
11 Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.	11 En seguida vi surgir de la tierra otra Bestia que tenía dos cuernos como los de un cordero, pero hablaba como un dragón.
12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.	12 Esta Bestia ejercía todo el poder de la primera y estaba a su servicio; y logró que la tierra y sus habitantes adoraran a la primera Bestia, a aquella cuya llaga mortal se había cicatrizado.
13 It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men;	13 También realizaba grandes prodigios, llegando a hacer descender fuego del cielo sobre la tierra a la vista de todos.
14 and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived;	14 Y por los prodigios que realizaba al servicio de la primera Bestia, sedujo a los habitantes de la tierra para que fabricaran una imagen en honor de aquella que fue herida por la espada y sobrevivió.
15 and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.	15 También se le permitió dar vida a la imagen de la Bestia, para hacerla hablar y dar muerte a todos aquellos que no adoran su imagen.
16 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,	16 Así consiguió que todos –pequeños y grandes, ricos y pobres, libres y esclavos– se dejaran poner una marca en su mano derecha o sobre su frente,
17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.	17 de manera que nadie podía comprar o vender, si no llevaba marcado el nombre de la Bestia o la cifra que corresponde a su nombre.
18 This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.	18 Para esto se precisa sutileza. El que tenga inteligencia calcule la cifra de la Bestia, porque es una cifra humana: 666.
