1 THE revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon take place; and he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,	1 Rivelazione di Gesù Cristo, che gli fu data da Dio affinché mostrasse ai suoi servi le cose che debbono accadere fra breve, e che egli comunicò, con l'invio del suo angelo, al suo servo Giovanni,
2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.	2 il quale attesta la parola di Dio e la testimonianza di Gesù Cristo, secondo quanto vide.
3 Blessed is he who reads aloud the words of the prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written therein; for the time is near.	3 Beato colui che leggerà e quelli che ascolteranno le parole di questa profezia e metteranno in pratica ciò che in essa è scritto! Sì, il tempo è vicino!
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,	4 Giovanni alle sette chiese dell'Asia. Grazia a voi e pace da parte di Colui che è, che era, che viene, e da parte dei sette Spiriti che stanno davanti al trono di lui
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood	5 e da parte di Gesù Cristo, colui che è il Testimone fedele, il Primo-nato fra i morti, il Principe dei re della terra. A lui che ci ama e ci ha prosciolti dai nostri peccati nel suo sangue
6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.	6 e ha formato di noi un regno di sacerdoti per il suo Dio e Padre, a lui gloria e impero nei secoli dei secoli. Amen!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.	7 Ecco: viene tra le nubi; tutti gli uomini lo contempleranno, anche quelli che l'hanno trafitto; e si batteranno per lui il petto tutte le tribù della terra. Sì, amen!
8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.	8 Io sono l'Alfa e l'Omega, dice il Signore Dio, Colui che è, che era, che viene, l'Onnipotente.
9 I John, your brother, who share with you in Jesus the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.	9 Io Giovanni, vostro fratello e a voi associato nella tribolazione, nel regno e nella costanza in Gesù, mi trovavo nell'isola chiamata Patmos, a causa della parola di Dio e della testimonianza di Gesù.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet	10 Rapito in estasi nel giorno del Signore, udii dietro a me una voce possente, come di una tromba, che diceva:
11 saying, "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to La-odicea."	11 "Ciò che vedrai scrivilo in un libro e invialo alle sette chiese: a Efeso, a Smirne, a Pergamo, a Tiatira, a Sardi, a Filadelfia e a Laodicea".
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands,	12 Mi voltai per vedere chi fosse quello che mi parlava; voltandomi, vidi sette candelabri d'oro
13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden girdle round his breast;	13 e in mezzo ad essi uno simile a figlio di uomo. Indossava una tunica lunga ed era cinto all'altezza del petto con una fascia dorata.
14 his head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; his eyes were like a flame of fire,	14 I capelli della sua testa erano bianchi, simili a lana candida, come neve. I suoi occhi erano come fiamma ardente.
15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of many waters;	15 I suoi piedi avevano l'aspetto del bronzo splendente, quando è stato purificato nel crogiolo. La sua voce era come lo scroscio di acque abbondanti.
16 in his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth issued a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.	16 Nella sua mano destra teneva sette stelle, mentre dalla bocca usciva una spada affilata, a doppio taglio. Il suo aspetto uguagliava il fulgore del sole in pieno meriggio.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand upon me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last,	17 A vederlo caddi ai suoi piedi come morto. Ma egli, posando la sua destra sopra di me, mi rassicurò: "Non temere! Io sono il Primo e l'Ultimo, il Vivente;
18 and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.	18 giacqui morto, infatti; ma ora eccomi vivo per i secoli dei secoli; nelle mie mani sono le chiavi della Morte e dell'Ade.
19 Now write what you see, what is and what is to take place hereafter.	19 Metti in iscritto le cose che vedrai, sia quelle riguardanti il presente, sia quelle che accadranno dopo di esse.
20 As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.	20 Quanto al significato delle sette stelle che vedi nella mia mano destra e dei sette candelabri d'oro: le sette stelle simboleggiano gli angeli delle sette chiese e i sette candelabri le sette chiese".
