Hebrews 8

1 Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,	1 O ponto capital de tudo o que acabamos de dizer é este: temos um pontífice tal, que está sentado nos céus à direita do trono da Majestade,
2 a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord.	2 ministro do santuário e do verdadeiro tabernáculo erigido pelo Senhor, e não pelo homem.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.	3 Sendo todo o pontífice constituído para oferecer dons e vítimas, é necessário que também este tenha alguma coisa que oferecer.
4 Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law.	4 Porque, se ele estivesse sobre a terra, nem sacerdote seria, visto que os há aí (filhos da tribo de Levi) que oferecem dons, segundo a lei,
5 They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary; for when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain."	5 que celebram um culto que é apenas imagem e sombra das coisas celestiais, como foi dito por Deus a Moisés, quando teve de construir o tabernáculo: Olha (disse) faze todas as coisas conforme o modelo que te foi mostrado sobre o monte (Ex. 25, 40).
6 But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry which is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.	6 Mas (Cristo) recebeu um ministério tanto mais elevado quanto melhor a aliança de que é mediador, a qual foi estabelecida sobre melhores promessas.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second.	7 De facto, se aquela primeira aliança tivesse sido sem defeito, não se buscaria lugar para uma segunda.
8 For he finds fault with them when he says: "The days will come, says the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;	8 Pois que (Deus), repreendendo-os, diz: Eis virão dias em que eu contrairei com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá uma nova aliança,
9 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and so I paid no heed to them, says the Lord.	9 diferente da aliança que fiz com os seus pais, no dia em que lhes peguei pela mão para os tirar da terra do Egito; porém, visto que eles não perseveraram na minha aliança, também me desinteressei deles, diz o Senhor.
10 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.	10 Mas esta é a aliança que estabelecerei com a casa de Israel depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor: porei as minhas leis no seu espirito, grava-las-ei no seu coração, e serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo;
11 And they shall not teach every one his fellow or every one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest.	11 ninguém ensinará mais a seu compatriota, ninguém a seu irmão, dizendo: "conhece o Senhor", porque todos eles me conhecerão, desde o mais pequeno até ao maior,
12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."	12 pois perdoarei as suas iniquidades e não me lembrarei mais dos seus pecados (Jer. 31,31-34).
13 In speaking of a new covenant he treats the first as obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.	13 Falando de aliança nova, Deus declarou antiquada a primeira. Ora o que envelhece e se torna antiquado, está prestes a perecer.
