Acts of the Apostles 8

1 And Saul was consenting to his death. And on that day a great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the region of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.	1 Saulus aber war mit dem Mord einverstanden. An jenem Tag brach eine schwere Verfolgung über die Kirche in Jerusalem herein. Alle wurden in die Gegenden von Judäa und Samarien zerstreut, mit Ausnahme der Apostel.
2 Devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him.	2 Fromme Männer bestatteten Stephanus und hielten eine große Totenklage für ihn.
3 But Saul was ravaging the church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison.	3 Saulus aber versuchte die Kirche zu vernichten; er drang in die Häuser ein, schleppte Männer und Frauen fort und lieferte sie ins Gefängnis ein.
4 Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word.	4 Die Gläubigen, die zerstreut worden waren, zogen umher und verkündeten das Wort.
5 Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ.	5 Philippus aber kam in die Hauptstadt Samariens hinab und verkündigte dort Christus.
6 And the multitudes with one accord gave heed to what was said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs which he did.	6 Und die Menge achtete einmütig auf die Worte des Philippus; sie hörten zu und sahen die Wunder, die er tat.
7 For unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice; and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.	7 Denn aus vielen Besessenen fuhren unter lautem Geschrei die unreinen Geister aus; auch viele Lahme und Krüppel wurden geheilt.
8 So there was much joy in that city.	8 So herrschte große Freude in jener Stadt.
9 But there was a man named Simon who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the nation of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great.	9 Ein Mann namens Simon wohnte schon länger in der Stadt; er trieb Zauberei und verwirrte das Volk von Samarien, da er sich als etwas Großes ausgab.
10 They all gave heed to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is that power of God which is called Great."	10 Alle hörten auf ihn, Jung und Alt, und sie sagten: Das ist die Kraft Gottes, die man die Große nennt.
11 And they gave heed to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic.	11 Und sie schlossen sich ihm an, weil er sie lange Zeit mit seinen Zauberkünsten betörte.
12 But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.	12 Als sie jedoch dem Philippus Glauben schenkten, der das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes und vom Namen Jesu Christi verkündete, ließen sie sich taufen, Männer und Frauen.
13 Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.	13 Auch Simon wurde gläubig, ließ sich taufen und schloss sich dem Philippus an; und als er die großen Zeichen und Wunder sah, geriet er außer sich vor Staunen.
14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John,	14 Als die Apostel in Jerusalem hörten, dass Samarien das Wort Gottes angenommen hatte, schickten sie Petrus und Johannes dorthin.
15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit;	15 Diese zogen hinab und beteten für sie, sie möchten den Heiligen Geist empfangen.
16 for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.	16 Denn er war noch auf keinen von ihnen herabgekommen; sie waren nur auf den Namen Jesu, des Herrn, getauft.
17 Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.	17 Dann legten sie ihnen die Hände auf und sie empfingen den Heiligen Geist.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,	18 Als Simon sah, dass durch die Handauflegung der Apostel der Geist verliehen wurde, brachte er ihnen Geld
19 saying, "Give me also this power, that any one on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."	19 und sagte: Gebt auch mir diese Macht, damit jeder, dem ich die Hände auflege, den Heiligen Geist empfängt.
20 But Peter said to him, "Your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!	20 Petrus aber sagte zu ihm: Dein Silber fahre mit dir ins Verderben, wenn du meinst, die Gabe Gottes lasse sich für Geld kaufen.
21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.	21 Du hast weder einen Anteil daran noch ein Recht darauf, denn dein Herz ist nicht aufrichtig vor Gott.
22 Repent therefore of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.	22 Wende dich von deiner Bosheit ab und bitte den Herrn; vielleicht wird dir dein Ansinnen vergeben.
23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity."	23 Denn ich sehe dich voll bitterer Galle und Bosheit.
24 And Simon answered, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."	24 Da antwortete Simon: Betet ihr für mich zum Herrn, damit mich nichts von dem trifft, was ihr gesagt habt.
25 Now when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.	25 Nachdem sie so das Wort des Herrn bezeugt und verkündet hatten, machten sie sich auf den Weg zurück nach Jerusalem und verkündeten in vielen Dörfern der Samariter das Evangelium.
26 But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert road.	26 Ein Engel des Herrn sagte zu Philippus: Steh auf und zieh nach Süden auf der Straße, die von Jerusalem nach Gaza hinabführt. Sie führt durch eine einsame Gegend.
27 And he rose and went. And behold, an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a minister of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of all her treasure, had come to Jerusalem to worship	27 Und er brach auf. Nun war da ein Äthiopier, ein Kämmerer, Hofbeamter der Kandake, der Königin der Äthiopier, der ihren ganzen Schatz verwaltete. Dieser war nach Jerusalem gekommen, um Gott anzubeten,
28 and was returning; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.	28 und fuhr jetzt heimwärts. Er saß auf seinem Wagen und las den Propheten Jesaja.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot."	29 Und der Geist sagte zu Philippus: Geh und folge diesem Wagen.
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"	30 Philippus lief hin und hörte ihn den Propheten Jesaja lesen. Da sagte er: Verstehst du auch, was du liest?
31 And he said, "How can I, unless some one guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.	31 Jener antwortete: Wie könnte ich es, wenn mich niemand anleitet? Und er bat den Philippus, einzusteigen und neben ihm Platz zu nehmen.
32 Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this: "As a sheep led to the slaughter or a lamb before its shearer is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.	32 Der Abschnitt der Schrift, den er las, lautete: Wie ein Schaf wurde er zum Schlachten geführt; und wie ein Lamm, das verstummt, wenn man es schert, so tat er seinen Mund nicht auf.
33 In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken up from the earth."	33 In der Erniedrigung wurde seine Verurteilung aufgehoben. Seine Nachkommen, wer kann sie zählen? Denn sein Leben wurde von der Erde fortgenommen.
34 And the eunuch said to Philip, "About whom, pray, does the prophet say this, about himself or about some one else?"	34 Der Kämmerer wandte sich an Philippus und sagte: Ich bitte dich, von wem sagt der Prophet das? Von sich selbst oder von einem anderen?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture he told him the good news of Jesus.	35 Da begann Philippus zu reden und ausgehend von diesem Schriftwort verkündete er ihm das Evangelium von Jesus.
36 And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?"	36 Als sie nun weiterzogen, kamen sie zu einer Wasserstelle. Da sagte der Kämmerer: Hier ist Wasser. Was steht meiner Taufe noch im Weg?

38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.	38 Er ließ den Wagen halten und beide, Philippus und der Kämmerer, stiegen in das Wasser hinab und er taufte ihn.
39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught up Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.	39 Als sie aber aus dem Wasser stiegen, entführte der Geist des Herrn den Philippus. Der Kämmerer sah ihn nicht mehr und er zog voll Freude weiter.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus, and passing on he preached the gospel to all the towns till he came to Caesarea.	40 Den Philippus aber sah man in Aschdod wieder. Und er wanderte durch alle Städte und verkündete das Evangelium, bis er nach Cäsarea kam.
