1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.	1 Il giorno della Pentecoste volgeva al suo termine, ed essi stavano riuniti nello stesso luogo.
2 And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.	2 D'improvviso vi fu dal cielo un rumore, come all'irrompere di un vento impetuoso, che riempì tutta la casa in cui si trovavano.
3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them.	3 Apparvero ad essi delle lingue come di fuoco che si dividevano e che andarono a posarsi su ciascuno di essi.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.	4 Tutti furono riempiti di Spirito Santo e cominciarono a parlare in altre lingue, secondo che lo Spirito dava ad essi il potere di esprimersi.
5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.	5 Si trovavano allora in Gerusalemme Giudei devoti, provenienti da tutte le nazioni del mondo.
6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.	6 Al prodursi di questo rumore incominciò a radunarsi una gran folla, eccitata e confusa, perché ciascuno li udiva parlare nella propria lingua.
7 And they were amazed and wondered, saying, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?	7 Fuori di sé per la meraviglia dicevano: "Tutti costoro che parlano non sono forse Galilei?
8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?	8 Come mai ciascuno di noi li ode parlare nella propria lingua nativa?
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,	9 Parti, Medi, Elamiti, abitanti della Mesopotamia, della Giudea e della Cappadocia, del Ponto e dell'Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,	10 della Frigia e della Panfilia, dell'Egitto e delle regioni della Libia presso Cirene, Romani qui residenti,
11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God."	11 sia Giudei che proseliti, Cretesi e Arabi, tutti quanti li sentiamo esprimere nelle nostre lingue le grandi opere di Dio!".
12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?"	12 Tutti erano sbalorditi e non sapevano che pensare e andavano domandandosi gli uni agli altri: "Che cosa vuol dire tutto ciò?".
13 But others mocking said, "They are filled with new wine."	13 Altri poi beffandoli dicevano: "Sono ubriachi di mosto dolce!".
14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.	14 Allora Pietro, in piedi con gli Undici, levò alta la voce e parlò loro così: "Voi, Giudei, e abitanti tutti di Gerusalemme, fate attenzione a ciò che sto per dire e porgete l'orecchio alle mie parole.
15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day;	15 Costoro non sono ubriachi, come voi pensate, poiché sono soltanto le nove del mattino;
16 but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:	16 si sta invece verificando ciò che fu detto per mezzo del profeta Gioele:
17 'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;	17 Negli ultimi giorni, dice il Signore, effonderò il mio spirito su ogni essere umano e profeteranno i vostri figli e le vostre figlie, i vostri giovani vedranno visioni e i vostri anziani sogneranno sogni;
18 yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.	18 certo, sui servi miei e sulle mie ancelle effonderò in quei giorni il mio spirito e profeteranno.
19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;	19 Farò prodigi in alto nel cielo e segni prodigiosi giù sulla terra, sangue e fuoco e vapori di fumo.
20 the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day.	20 Il sole si trasformerà in tenebre e la luna in sangue, prima che venga il giorno del Signore, il gran giorno sfolgorante.
21 And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'	21 Allora chiunque invocherà il nome del Signore sarà salvo.
22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know--	22 Uomini d'Israele, udite queste parole: Gesù il Nazareno fu un uomo accreditato da Dio presso di voi con prodigi, portenti e miracoli, che per mezzo di lui il Signore operò in mezzo a voi, come voi ben sapete;
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.	23 Dio, nel suo volere e nella sua provvidenza, ha permesso che egli vi fosse consegnato: e voi, per mano di empi senza legge, lo avete ucciso inchiodandolo al patibolo.
24 But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.	24 Ma Dio lo ha risuscitato, liberandolo dalle doglie della morte; poiché non era possibile che la morte lo possedesse.
25 For David says concerning him, 'I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;	25 Dice infatti Davide a suo riguardo: Vedevo il Signore davanti a me continuamente, perché egli è alla mia destra, affinché non vacilli.
26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh will dwell in hope.	26 Perciò si rallegra il mio cuore e le mie parole sono piene di letizia: io, benché essere mortale, riposerò nella speranza,
27 For thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let thy Holy One see corruption.	27 perché non abbandonerai l'anima mia negl'inferi né permetterai che il tuo fedele veda la corruzione.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence.'	28 Mi hai fatto conoscere i sentieri della vita, mi colmerai di gioia con la tua presenza.
29 "Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.	29 Fratelli, parliamoci francamente. Il nostro patriarca Davide morì e fu sepolto e il suo sepolcro si trova in mezzo a voi fino a questo giorno.
30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,	30 Ma egli era profeta e sapeva che Dio gli aveva giurato solennemente di far sedere sul suo trono uno della sua discendenza.
31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.	31 Perciò, prevedendo il futuro, parlò della risurrezione del Cristo, quando disse che non sarebbe stato abbandonato allo sceòl, né la sua carne avrebbe visto la corruzione.
32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.	32 Questo è quel Gesù che Dio ha risuscitato, e noi tutti ne siamo i testimoni.
33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.	33 Egli è stato dunque esaltato dalla destra di Dio, ha ricevuto dal Padre il dono dello Spirito Santo secondo la promessa e ha effuso questo stesso Spirito, come voi ora vedete e ascoltate.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens; but he himself says, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,	34 Infatti Davide non ascese al cielo; tuttavia egli dice: Disse il Signore al mio Signore: siedi alla mia destra,
35 till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet.'	35 finché ponga i tuoi nemici sgabello dei tuoi piedi.
36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."	36 Sappia dunque con certezza tutta la casa d'Israele che Dio ha costituito Signore e Cristo questo Gesù che voi avete crocifisso".
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"	37 A queste parole furono profondamente turbati e dissero a Pietro e agli altri apostoli: "Che cosa dobbiamo fare, fratelli?".
38 And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.	38 Pietro rispose loro: "Pentitevi e ciascuno di voi si faccia battezzare nel nome di Gesù Cristo per ottenere il perdono dei vostri peccati: e riceverete il dono del Santo Spirito.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him."	39 Per voi infatti è la promessa e per i figli vostri e per tutti coloro che sono lontani, che il Signore Dio nostro chiamerà".
40 And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."	40 E con molte altre parole li scongiurava e li esortava: "Salvatevi da questa generazione perversa".
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.	41 Essi allora accolsero la sua parola e furono battezzati, e in quel giorno si aggiunsero a loro quasi tremila persone.
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.	42 Essi partecipavano assiduamente alle istruzioni degli apostoli, alla vita comune, allo spezzare del pane e alle preghiere.
43 And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.	43 In tutti si diffondeva un senso di religioso timore: infatti per mano degli apostoli si verificavano molti fatti prodigiosi e miracoli.
44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common;	44 Tutti i credenti, poi, stavano riuniti insieme e avevano tutto in comune;
45 and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.	45 le loro proprietà e i loro beni li vendevano e ne facevano parte a tutti, secondo il bisogno di ciascuno.
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts,	46 Ogni giorno erano assidui nel frequentare insieme il tempio, e nelle case spezzavano il pane, prendevano il cibo con gioia e semplicità di cuore,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.	47 lodando Dio e godendo il favore di tutto il popolo. Il Signore aggiungeva ogni giorno al gruppo coloro che accettavano la salvezza.
