1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.	1 Mikor elérkezett pünkösd napja, mindannyian együtt voltak, ugyanazon a helyen.
2 And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.	2 Hirtelen zaj támadt az égből, olyan, mint a heves szélvész zúgása. Betöltötte az egész házat, ahol ültek.
3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them.	3 Majd pedig szétoszló nyelvek jelentek meg nekik, olyanok, mint a tűz, és leereszkedtek mindegyikükre.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.	4 Ekkor mindnyájan beteltek Szentlélekkel és különféle nyelveken kezdtek beszélni, amint a Szentlélek megadta nekik, hogy szóljanak.
5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.	5 Ekkortájt az ég alatt található mindenféle nemzetből való istenfélő zsidók tartózkodtak Jeruzsálemben.
6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.	6 A zaj hallatára tömeg verődött össze, és teljesen elképedtek, mivel mindenki a tulajdon nyelvén hallotta beszélni őket.
7 And they were amazed and wondered, saying, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?	7 Mindnyájan álmélkodtak és csodálkoztak: »Íme, ezek, akik beszélnek, ugye mindnyájan galileaiak?
8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?	8 Hogyan halljuk hát mégis mindannyian a saját nyelvünket, amelyben születtünk?
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,	9 Mi, pártusok, médek, elamiták, Mezopotámiának, Júdeának, Kappadóciának, Pontusznak, Ázsiának,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,	10 Frígiának, Pamfíliának, Egyiptomnak és a Cirene körüli Líbia részeinek lakói, a Rómából való jövevények,
11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God."	11 zsidók, prozeliták, krétaiak és arabok: halljuk, hogy a mi nyelvünkön hirdetik Isten nagy tetteit.«
12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?"	12 Mindnyájan álmélkodtak, és csodálkozva mondták egymásnak: »Vajon mi ez?«
13 But others mocking said, "They are filled with new wine."	13 Mások azonban gúnyolódva azt mondták: »Tele vannak édes borral!«
14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.	14 Akkor Péter, aki a tizeneggyel ott állt, felemelte szavát, és beszédet intézett hozzájuk: »Zsidó férfiak, és Jeruzsálem összes lakója! Tudjátok meg ezt, s halljátok szavamat!
15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day;	15 Nem részegek ezek, ahogy ti gondoljátok, hiszen a nappalnak még csak a harmadik órája van,
16 but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:	16 hanem csak az történt, amit Joel próféta megmondott:
17 'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;	17 ‘És ez lesz az utolsó napokban – mondja az Úr –, kiárasztom Lelkemet minden emberre; akkor fiaitok és leányaitok prófétálni fognak, ifjaitok látomásokat látnak, öregjeiteknek pedig álomlátásaik lesznek.
18 yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.	18 Szolgáimra és szolgálóimra kiárasztom Lelkemet azokban a napokban, és prófétálni fognak.
19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;	19 Csodákat fogok tenni odafönn az égen és jeleket lenn a földön, vért, tüzet és füstpárát.
20 the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day.	20 A nap sötétséggé fog változni, a hold pedig vérré, mielőtt eljön az Úrnak nagy és nyilvánvaló napja.
21 And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'	21 És ez fog történni: mindaz, aki segítségül hívja az Úr nevét, üdvözül’.
22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know--	22 Izraelita férfiak, halljátok ezeket a szavakat: ti a Názáreti Jézust, azt a férfiút, akit Isten igazolt előttetek erőkkel, csodákkal és jelekkel, amelyeket, mint ti is tudjátok, Isten általa művelt közöttetek,
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.	23 ezt az embert istentelenek keze által felszegezve megöltétek, miután Isten elhatározott terve és előretudása szerint átadatott.
24 But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.	24 Isten azonban föloldozta a halál bilincseit, és föltámasztotta őt, amint lehetetlen is volt, hogy azok fogva tartsák,
25 For David says concerning him, 'I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;	25 mert Dávid róla mondja: ‘Magam előtt látom az Urat mindenkor, mert jobbomon áll ő, hogy meg ne inogjak.
26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh will dwell in hope.	26 Ezért örvend a szívem, és ujjong a nyelvem, sőt testem is békében nyugszik el,
27 For thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let thy Holy One see corruption.	27 mert nem hagyod lelkemet az alvilágban s nem engeded, hogy Szented rothadást lásson.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence.'	28 Megmutatod nekem az élet útját, és színed előtt örömmel töltesz el engem’.
29 "Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.	29 Férfiak, testvérek! Hadd szóljak hozzátok bátran Dávid ősatyáról! Ő meghalt, eltemették, és sírja a mai napig itt van nálunk.
30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,	30 Mivel azonban ő próféta volt, és tudta, hogy Isten esküvel fogadta meg neki, hogy az ő utódaiból ül majd valaki a trónjára ,
31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.	31 a jövőbe látva Krisztus feltámadásáról beszélt: hogy sem az alvilágban nem marad, sem a teste nem lát rothadást .
32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.	32 Ezt a Jézust Isten feltámasztotta, s ennek mi mindannyian tanúi vagyunk.
33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.	33 Miután tehát Isten jobbja felmagasztalta őt, és akit az Atya neki megígért, a Szentlelket, kiárasztotta – akit ti láttok és hallotok.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens; but he himself says, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,	34 Mert nem Dávid ment fel az égbe, hiszen ő azt mondja: ‘Szólt az Úr az én Uramnak: Jobbom felől foglalj helyet,
35 till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet.'	35 amíg én ellenségeidet lábad zsámolyává teszem’ .
36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."	36 Tudja meg tehát Izrael egész háza teljes bizonyossággal, hogy Isten Úrrá és Krisztussá tette őt, azt a Jézust, akit ti keresztre feszítettetek!«
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"	37 Amikor ezeket hallották, szívükben megrendültek. Így szóltak Péterhez és a többi apostolhoz: »Mit tegyünk, férfiak, testvérek?«
38 And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.	38 Péter azt felelte nekik: »Tartsatok bűnbánatot, és mindegyiktek keresztelkedjék meg Jézus Krisztus nevében bűneitek bocsánatára; akkor megkapjátok ajándékul a Szentlelket.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him."	39 Mert az ígéret nektek szól, valamint a ti fiaitoknak, és mindazoknak, akik távol vannak , de akik közül mindenkit meghív magához a mi Urunk Istenünk.«
40 And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."	40 Számos egyéb szóval is bátorította és buzdította őket: »Mentsétek meg magatokat ettől a gonosz nemzedéktől!«
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.	41 Azok tehát megfogadták szavát és megkeresztelkedtek; körülbelül háromezer lélek csatlakozott aznap hozzájuk.
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.	42 Ők pedig állhatatosan kitartottak az apostolok tanításában, a kenyérszegés közösségében és az imádságokban.
43 And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.	43 Félelem fogott el mindenkit: számos csoda és jel történt az apostolok által.
44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common;	44 A hívek mind összetartottak, és mindenük közös volt.
45 and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.	45 Birtokaikat és javaikat eladták, s az árát szétosztották, mindenkinek szükségéhez mérten.
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts,	46 Naponta egy szívvel-lélekkel ott voltak a templomban, házanként végezték a kenyérszegést, örvendezve és a szív tisztaságával vették magukhoz az eledelt.
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.	47 Dicsérték Istent, és az egész nép szerette őket. Az Úr pedig naponta növelte az üdvözülendők számát.
