1 After this he left Athens and went to Corinth.	1 - Dopo queste cose, Paolo, partitosi da Atene, venne a Corinto.
2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, lately come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them;	2 E avendo trovato un certo giudeo, di nome Aquila, oriundo del Ponto, venuto di fresco dall'Italia insieme con Priscilla sua moglie (perchè Claudio aveva ordinato che tutti i giudei se n'andasssero da Roma), s'accostò a loro;
3 and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them, and they worked, for by trade they were tentmakers.	3 e siccome era dello stesso mestiere, andò a stare e a lavorare con loro: facevano il mestiere di fabbricanti di tende.
4 And he argued in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.	4 Ogni sabato poi ragionava nella sinagoga, interponendo il nome del Signore Gesù, e persuadeva Giudei e Greci.
5 When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with preaching, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus.	5 Ma, venuti che furono Sila e Timoteo dalla Macedonia, Paolo si diè tutto alla predicazione, testimoniando a' Giudei che Gesù era il Cristo.
6 And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood be upon your heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."	6 Siccome però questi gli facevan contrasto e bestemmiavano, egli, scotendosi le vesti, disse loro: «Il sangue vostro ricada sul vostro capo; io non ne ho colpa; d'ora in poi me n'andrò a' Gentili».
7 And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God; his house was next door to the synagogue.	7 E, partitosi di là, entrò in casa d'uno chiamato Tito Giusto, adoratore di Dio; la casa di lui era presso alla sinagoga.
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.	8 Or Crispo, il capo della sinagoga, credette nel Signore con tutta la sua famiglia, e molti de' Corinti, udendo credevano, ed eran battezzati.
9 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent;	9 E il Signore, di notte in visione, disse a Paolo: «Non temere, ma parla e non tacere;
10 for I am with you, and no man shall attack you to harm you; for I have many people in this city."	10 perchè io son teco, e nessuno giungerà a farti del male: io ho un gran popolo in questa città».
11 And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.	11 Così Paolo si fermò a Corinto un anno e sei mesi, insegnando a tutti la parola di Dio.
12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack upon Paul and brought him before the tribunal,	12 Essendo poi Gallione proconsole dell'Acaia, i Giudei tutti d'accordo insorsero contro Paolo, e lo menarono al tribunale,
13 saying, "This man is persuading men to worship God contrary to the law."	13 dicendo: «Costui persuade la gente a rendere a Dio un culto contrario alla legge».
14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, I should have reason to bear with you, O Jews;	14 E come Paolo era lì pronto a parlare, Gallione disse a' Giudei: «Se si trattasse di qualche delitto, di qualche grave misfatto, io, o Giudei, vi darei ascolto come ragion vuole;
15 but since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves; I refuse to be a judge of these things."	15 ma, poichè si tratta di questioni di parole e di nomi, e appartengono alla vostra legge, pensateci voi: io non voglio farmi giudice di queste cose».
16 And he drove them from the tribunal.	16 E li mandò via dal tribunale.
17 And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to this.	17 Tutti allora presero Sostene, capo della sinagoga, e lo percossero dinanzi al tribunale; e Gallione non se ne curava affatto.
18 After this Paul stayed many days longer, and then took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchre-ae he cut his hair, for he had a vow.	18 Paolo rimase là molti giorni ancora, e dopo, preso commiato da' fratelli, s'imbarcò per la Siria, con Priscilla ed Aquila, fattosi tagliare i capelli a Cenerea, perchè aveva un voto.
19 And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself went into the synagogue and argued with the Jews.	19 Giunti che furono a Efeso, si separò da' compagni. Egli poi, entrato nella sinagoga, discuteva coi Giudei:
20 When they asked him to stay for a longer period, he declined;	20 e siccome questi lo pregavano di fermarsi più a lungo, Paolo non acconsentì;
21 but on taking leave of them he said, "I will return to you if God wills," and he set sail from Ephesus.	21 ma, nel congedarsi da loro, promise: «Un'altra volta, se piace a Dio, io tornerò a voi». Fece vela da Efeso,
22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch.	22 e, sbarcato a Cesarea, salì [a Gerusalemme], e, salutata la Chiesa, scese ad Antiochia.
23 After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.	23 Dove ebbe a fermarsi un qualche tempo; e si rimise in viaggio andando di luogo in luogo per il paese della Galazia e della Frigia, confermando tutti i discepoli.
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the scriptures.	24 Or giunse ad Efeso un certo Giudeo chiamato Apollo, oriundo di Alessandria, uomo eloquente e forte nelle Scritture.
25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.	25 Egli era stato istruito nella dottrina del Signore, e, fervente di spirito, parlava e insegnava con diligenza quanto concerneva Gesù, quantunque non avesse conoscenza che del battesimo di Giovanni.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him and expounded to him the way of God more accurately.	26 Con grande franchezza egli cominciò a parlare nella sinagoga; e Aquila e Priscilla, dopo averlo udito, lo presero con loro e gli esposero con maggior precisione la dottrina del Signore.
27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed,	27 Di poi, avuto l'idea di andare in Acaia, i fratelli, esortandolo, scrissero a' discepoli che lo accogliessero bene. E giunto là, fu di molto vantaggio a quelli che avevan creduto;
28 for he powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.	28 perchè con gran forza convinceva pubblicamente i Giudei, dimostrando con le Scritture che Gesù è il Cristo.
