1 After this he left Athens and went to Corinth.	1 Post haec discedens ab Athe nis venit Corinthum.
2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, lately come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them;	2 Et in veniens quendamIudaeum nomine Aquilam, Ponticum genere, qui nuper venerat ab Italia, etPriscillam uxorem eius, eo quod praecepisset Claudius discedere omnes Iudaeos aRoma, accessit ad eos
3 and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them, and they worked, for by trade they were tentmakers.	3 et, quia eiusdem erat artis, manebat apud eos etoperabatur; erant autem scenofactoriae artis.
4 And he argued in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.	4 Disputabat autem in synagoga peromne sabbatum suadebatque Iudaeis et Graecis.
5 When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with preaching, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus.	5 Cum venissent autem de Macedonia Silas et Timotheus, instabat verbo Paulustestificans Iudaeis esse Christum Iesum.
6 And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood be upon your heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."	6 Contradicentibus autem eis etblasphemantibus, excutiens vestimenta dixit ad eos: “ Sanguis vester supercaput vestrum! Mundus ego. Ex hoc nunc ad gentes vadam ”.
7 And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God; his house was next door to the synagogue.	7 Et migrans indeintravit in domum cuiusdam nomine Titi Iusti, colentis Deum, cuius domus eratconiuncta synagogae.
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.	8 Crispus autem archisynagogus credidit Domino cum omnidomo sua, et multi Corinthiorum audientes credebant et baptizabantur.
9 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent;	9 Dixit autem Dominus nocte per visionem Paulo: “ Noli timere, sed loquere etne taceas,
10 for I am with you, and no man shall attack you to harm you; for I have many people in this city."	10 quia ego sum tecum, et nemo apponetur tibi, ut noceat te, quoniampopulus est mihi multus in hac civitate ”.
11 And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.	11 Sedit autem annum et sex menses docens apud eos verbum Dei.
12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack upon Paul and brought him before the tribunal,	12 Gallione autem proconsule Achaiae, insurrexerunt uno animo Iudaei in Paulumet adduxerunt eum ad tribunal
13 saying, "This man is persuading men to worship God contrary to the law."	13 dicentes: “ Contra legem hic persuadethominibus colere Deum ”.
14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, I should have reason to bear with you, O Jews;	14 Incipiente autem Paulo aperire os, dixit Gallio adIudaeos: “ Si quidem esset iniquum aliquid aut facinus pessimum, o Iudaei,merito vos sustinerem;
15 but since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves; I refuse to be a judge of these things."	15 si vero quaestiones sunt de verbo et nominibus et legevestra, vos ipsi videritis; iudex ego horum nolo esse ”.
16 And he drove them from the tribunal.	16 Et minavit eos atribunali.
17 And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to this.	17 Apprehendentes autem omnes Sosthenen, principem synagogae,percutiebant ante tribunal; et nihil horum Gallioni curae erat.
18 After this Paul stayed many days longer, and then took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchre-ae he cut his hair, for he had a vow.	18 Paulus vero, cum adhuc sustinuisset dies multos, fratribus valefaciensnavigabat Syriam, et cum eo Priscilla et Aquila, qui sibi totonderat inCenchreis caput; habebat enim votum.
19 And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself went into the synagogue and argued with the Jews.	19 Deveneruntque Ephesum, et illos ibireliquit; ipse vero ingressus synagogam disputabat cum Iudaeis.
20 When they asked him to stay for a longer period, he declined;	20 Rogantibusautem eis, ut ampliore tempore maneret, non consensit,
21 but on taking leave of them he said, "I will return to you if God wills," and he set sail from Ephesus.	21 sed valefaciens etdicens: “ Iterum revertar ad vos Deo volente ”, navigavit ab Epheso;
22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch.	22 etdescendens Caesaream ascendit et salutavit ecclesiam et descendit Antiochiam.
23 After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.	23 Et facto ibi aliquanto tempore, profectus est perambulans ex ordine Galaticamregionem et Phrygiam, confirmans omnes discipulos.
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the scriptures.	24 Iudaeus autem quidam Apollo nomine, Alexandrinus natione, vir eloquens,devenit Ephesum, potens in Scripturis.
25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.	25 Hic erat catechizatus viam Domini; etfervens spiritu loquebatur et docebat diligenter ea, quae sunt de Iesu, scienstantum baptisma Ioannis.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him and expounded to him the way of God more accurately.	26 Hic ergo coepit fiducialiter agere in synagoga; quemcum audissent Priscilla et Aquila, assumpserunt eum et diligentius exposueruntei viam Dei.
27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed,	27 Cum autem vellet transire in Achaiam, exhortati fratresscripserunt discipulis, ut susciperent eum; qui cum venisset, contulit multumhis, qui crediderant per gratiam;
28 for he powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.	28 vehementer enim Iudaeos revincebat publice,ostendens per Scripturas esse Christum Iesum.
