1 On the third day there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there;	1 E il terzo giorno fecero le nozze in Cana Galilea; ed era quivi la madre di Iesù.
2 Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples.	2 E a queste nozze egli fu invitato Iesù, e gli suoi discepoli.
3 When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."	3 E mancando il vino, disse la madre di Iesù a lui (figliuolo), non gli è vino.
4 And Jesus said to her, "O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come."	4 E Iesù gli disse: femina, nè a me nè a te non fa nulla, imperò che non è venuta ancora l'ora mia.
5 His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."	5 Disse la madre alli servitori: fate ciò che egli vi dirà.
6 Now six stone jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.	6 Erano quivi sei mezzarole di pietra secondo l'usanza della purificazione de' giudei, e ciascuna teneva due o tre mezzarole.
7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim.	7 Disse a loro Iesù: empiete queste mezzarole d'acqua. Ed empierole insino al sommo.
8 He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the steward of the feast." So they took it.	8 E poi disse a loro: andatevi ora, e portatene al siniscalco delle nozze. E così fecero.
9 When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward of the feast called the bridegroom	9 E quando il siniscalco assaggiò l'acqua fatta vino, e non sapendo donde fosse venuto; ma li servitori bene il sapevano loro, imperò che aveano portata l'acqua; chiamò, il siniscalco lo sposo.
10 and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now."	10 E dissegli: ogni uomo pone in prima il buono vino, e quando la gente è avvinata, poi vi pone di quello che non è così buono; ma tu hai servato il buono vino insino a ora.
11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.	11 Questo fu il primo segno (e miracolo) che Iesù facesse in Cana di Galilea; e manifestò la gloria sua, e credettero in lui li suoi discepoli.
12 After this he went down to Caperna-um, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples; and there they stayed for a few days.	12 Dopo questo Iesù discendette in Cafarnao; e la sua madre e gli suoi fratelli e gli discepoli qui dimororono [non] molti giorni.
13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.	13 E approssimandosi la pasca de' giudei, andò Iesù in Ierusalem.
14 In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers at their business.	14 E trovò nel tempio gente che vendevano pecore e buoi e columbi, e cambiatori che sedevano (a cambiare moneta).
15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all, with the sheep and oxen, out of the temple; and he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.	15 E (vedendo questo Iesù) fece a modo di uno flagello di funi; e con esso tutti gli cacciò del tempio; e le pecore e gli buoi cacciò fuori; e gli denari de' cambiatori gittò per terra, e loro tavole gittò sotto sopra.
16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, "Take these things away; you shall not make my Father's house a house of trade."	16 E coloro che vendevano gli columbi, disse a loro portate via queste cose, e non vogliate fare della casa del Padre mio casa di mercanzia.
17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for thy house will consume me."	17 E ricordaronsi gli discepoli suoi, ch' era scritto: l'amore della casa tua mi ha mangiato.
18 The Jews then said to him, "What sign have you to show us for doing this?"	18 Risposero gli giudei a Iesù, e dissero: che segno ci mostri tu a noi, per che tu fai queste cose?
19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."	19 Rispose Iesù, e disse a loro: voi disfarete questo tempio, ma in tre giorni io lo rifarò.
20 The Jews then said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?"	20 Dissero gli giudei: questo tempio si stette a fare quaranta e sei anni; come adunque lo rifarai in tre giorni?
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.	21 Ma Iesù parlava del tempio del corpo suo.
22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.	22 Ed essendo poi Iesù resuscitato da morte, ricordandosi gli discepoli, che Iesù diceva del corpo suo, credettero alle scritture e alle parole che disse Iesù.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs which he did;	23 Ed essendo in Ierusalem per la pasca nel giorno della festa, molti credettero nel nome suo, vedendo gli segni (e miracoli) che faceva.
24 but Jesus did not trust himself to them,	24 Ma Iesù non si curava di loro; imperò che tutti gli conosceva,
25 because he knew all men and needed no one to bear witness of man; for he himself knew what was in man.	25 e (bene sapeva che) non era di bisogno che rendessero testimonianza dell' uomo; imperò che sapeva quello ch' era nell' uomo.
