John 13

1 Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.	1 ולפני חג הפסח כשידע ישוע כי באה שעתו לעבר מן העולם הזה אל אביו כאשר אהב את בחיריו אשר בעולם כן אהבם עד הקץ
2 And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,	2 ויהי אחרי החל הסעודה והשטן נתן בלב יהודה בן שמעון איש קריות למסרו
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God,	3 וידע ישוע כי נתן אביו את הכל בידו וכי מאלהים בא ואל אלהים ישוב
4 rose from supper, laid aside his garments, and girded himself with a towel.	4 ויקם מעל השלחן ויפשט את בגדיו ויקח מטפחת ויחגרה
5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.	5 ואחר יצק מים בכיור ויחל לרחץ את רגלי תלמידיו ולנגב במטפחת אשר הוא חגור בה
6 He came to Simon Peter; and Peter said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"	6 ויקרב אל שמעון פטרוס והוא אמר אליו אדני האתה תרחץ את רגלי
7 Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not know now, but afterward you will understand."	7 ויען ישוע ויאמר אליו את אשר אני עשה אינך ידע כעת ואחרי כן תדע
8 Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part in me."	8 ויאמר אליו פטרוס לעולם לא תרחץ את רגלי ויען ישוע אם לא ארחץ אתך אין לך חלק עמי
9 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!"	9 ויאמר אליו שמעון פטרוס אדני לא לבד את רגלי כי אם גם את ידי ואת ראשי
10 Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but he is clean all over; and you are clean, but not every one of you."	10 ויאמר אליו ישוע המרחץ אין לו לרחץ עוד כי אם את הרגלים כי כלו טהור הוא ואתם טהורים אך לא כלכם
11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean."	11 כי ידע מי ימסרהו על כן אמר לא כלכם טהורים
12 When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?	12 ויהי אחרי אשר רחץ את רגלים וילבש את בגדיו וישב להסב ויאמר אליהם הידעתם מה הדבר אשר עשיתי לכם
13 You call me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.	13 אתם קראים לי רב ואדון והיטבתם אשר דברתם כי אני הוא
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.	14 לכן אם אני המורה והאדון רחצתי את רגליכם גם אתם חיבים לרחץ איש את רגלי אחיו
15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.	15 כי מופת נתתי לכם למען תעשו גם אתם כאשר עשיתי לכם
16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.	16 אמן אמן אני אמר לכם כי העבד איננו גדול מאדניו והשלוח איננו גדול משלחו
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.	17 אם ידעתם זאת אשריכם אם כן תעשו
18 I am not speaking of you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.'	18 לא על כלכם דברתי יודע אני את אשר בחרתי בהם אך למען ימלא הכתוב אוכל לחמי הגדיל עלי עקב
19 I tell you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he.	19 מעתה אני אמר לכם בטרם היותה למען בבואה תאמינו כי אני הוא
20 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me."	20 אמן אמן אני אמר לכם כי כל המקבל את אשר אשלחהו אתי הוא מקבל והמקבל אתי הוא מקבל את שלחי
21 When Jesus had thus spoken, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."	21 ויהי ככלות ישוע לדבר הדברים האלה ויבהל ברוחו ויעד ויאמר אמן אמן אני אמר לכם כי אחד מכם ימסרני
22 The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke.	22 ויתראו תלמידיו ויתמהו איש אל רעהו לדעת על מי דבר
23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus;	23 ואחד מתלמידיו מסב על חיק ישוע אשר ישוע אהבו
24 so Simon Peter beckoned to him and said, "Tell us who it is of whom he speaks."	24 וירמז לו שמעון פטרוס לדרש מי הוא זה אשר דבר עליו
25 So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?"	25 ויפל על לב ישוע ויאמר אליו אדני מי הוא
26 Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.	26 ויען ישוע הנה זה הוא אשר אטבל פתי לתתו לו ויטבל את פתו ויתן אל יהודה בן שמעון איש קריות
27 Then after the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly."	27 ואחרי בלעו בא השטן אל קרבו ויאמר אליו ישוע את אשר תעשה עשה מהרה
28 Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him.	28 ומן המסבים לא ידע איש על מה דבר אליו כזאת
29 Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the feast"; or, that he should give something to the poor.	29 כי יש אשר חשבו כי אמר אליו ישוע קנה לנו צרכי החג או לתת לאביונים יען אשר כיס הכסף תחת יד יהודה
30 So, after receiving the morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night.	30 והוא בקחתו את פת הלחם מהר לצאת החוצה ויהי לילה
31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is glorified;	31 הוא יצא וישוע אמר עתה נתפאר בן האדם והאלהים נתפאר בו
32 if God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.	32 אם האלהים נתפאר בו גם האלהים הוא יפארהו בעצמו ובמהרה יפארהו
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going you cannot come.'	33 בני עוד מעט מזער אהיה עמכם אתם תבקשוני וכאשר אמרתי אל היהודים כי אל אשר אני הולך לא תוכלו לבוא שמה כן אליכם אמר אני עתה
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.	34 מצוה חדשה אני נתן לכם כי תאהבו איש את אחיו כאשר אהבתי אתכם כן גם אתם איש את אחיו תאהבון
35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."	35 בזאת ידעו כלם כי תלמידי אתם בהיות אהבה ביניכם
36 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow afterward."	36 ויאמר אליו פטרוס אדני אנה תלך ויען אתו ישוע אל אשר אני הולך שמה לא תוכל עתה ללכת אחרי אך אחרי כן תלך אחרי
37 Peter said to him, "Lord, why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."	37 ויאמר אליו פטרוס מדוע לא אוכל עתה ללכת אחריך הן נפשי בעד נפשך אתן
38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the cock will not crow, till you have denied me three times.	38 ויען אתו ישוע הכי תתן נפשך בעד נפשי אמן אמן אני אמר לך בטרם יקרא התרנגל תכחש בי שלש פעמים
